Newcastle’s odds of signing Loic Remy in this summer transfer window have today been cut from 4/1 to 1/2 odds on.
Loic Remy – Newcastle odds on to sign the Frenchman
Sky Sports is reporting that since Newcastle have now pulled out of their efforts to sign Bafetimbi Gomis of Lyon, because the price was far too high for a player who is available as a free agent next June, Newcastle have turned their full attentions to Loic Remy.
And the odds have been cut dramatically on a striker who Newcastle thought they were going to sign in January, but at the last moment the French International signed for QPR for £75K/week – obviously a huge mistake by the Frenchman.
And the question we posed earlier today was whether Newcastle would now try to sign Remy on a full-time basis, but we still think a loan deal is probably still best for the Tyneside club.
But of course we’ve been wrong before.
Here’s the current betting on which club will sign Loic Remy this summer, with Newcastle at 1-2 on, Tottenham next at 4-1, with West Ham next at 6-1.
Quite honestly, we just hope that Joe Kinnear can get Remy or Gomis through the door very soon, so at least we have one new striker into the club at least.
And news today that former Newcastle manager Chris Hughton has just signed English striker Gary Hooper from Celtic for £5M.
And that follows their capture of Sporting Lisbon striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel in April for £8.5M, and Gary is now the seventh signing by Chris for Norwich this summer.
Sort note to Joe Kinnear – please get a move on – we only need two players – two strikers this summer.
