Newcastle “Strongly Interested” In Top French U21 Forward

11:23 pm, Tuesday, July 30th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 30 Comments

18 year-old French U21 International Mbaye Niang joined AC Milan from Caen last summer, and English clubs Arsenal, Everton, and Tottenham Hotspur were also interested in him at that time.

Mbaye Niang

Mbaye Niang – 18 year-old AC Milan player

Niang plays primarily as a forward, and he can play on either wing and in attacking midfield too, and he’s one of the best young French players around, and he made his debut at the age of 16 in April of 2011, in a league match for Caen against Toulouse.

While Sampdoria are said to be very interested in the French youngster the Italian media are reporting that Newcastle are strongly interested in the youngster, who can also play up front as a striker, and has style (and looks) is like that of former Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli, who is also now at Milan.

Milan paid €3M (£2.5M) for him last summer, but he played 25 times for the Italian side last season, and he will be worth more than that now.

There are reports in La Gazzetta dello Sport that Newcastle are supposed to be strongly interested in the 18 year-old.

While at Caen, Niang played 30 times with 5 goals for the first team before he left for Italy last summer, when he was only 17.

With Newcastle losing out on strikers Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and maybe Bafetimbi Gomis, Newcastle will be looking at their list of strikers, to see who else they can go after this summer.

Niang could be one of those players, but there are lots of top clubs following this Frenchman’s progress in Italy.

What do you think?

    Has anyone seen these comments?:

Alan Pardew insists he is not concerned by the lack of new arrivals under director of football Joe Kinnear. He told Sky Sports News: “I’m not frustrated. I have to work with the players we’ve got, I have a good squad of players, and I have no problem starting the season with the group we’ve got.”

Ferk sake. Would of been ideal for us

  • 9 toonarmydownsouth // Jul 30, 2013 at 11:32 PM

@nufcfans: Alan Pardew hopeful “something will happen” on transfer front before #NUFC face Rangers next Tue (6/8). It’s a “realistic deadline,” he says

Sounds like he’s set a date for JFK to get his fcuking finger out

  • 10 Belfast // Jul 30, 2013 at 11:33 PM

That’s Pardew covering his own ass for when we sign nobody lol

  • 11 Black and White with an army lol // Jul 30, 2013 at 11:35 PM

i would love to hear the excuse AP has got prepared after the Rangers game and explains why MA or JFK hasn’t bought any 1 in

Shane about Sinclair like 🙁 .

    @ Avenger

Possibly m8 . Maybe Ashley knows people will be put of buying the home shirt with the Wonga saga, so he will get all the signings 90% done and then unveil them with the new strips .

Could be a reason for the lack of signings.

Funny how some believe all the rumours as gospel that we’ve lost out on a player, but when it’s players coming in its just paper talk and gob shite haha

Milan are focusing on youth development so i doubt they will sell him. There are reports that they are scraping the bottom of there coffers to find some money so they can bid for Honda, so will probably be selling someone, just not him.

    lets see now —-

    Sinclair ( loaned out )
    Remy ( staying put )
Gomis ( going somewhere else and soon )
Bent ( Fulham, i certainly hope so )

leaving Newcastle with what ?! ( free players over the age of 32 )

  • 16 Big Pappa Cissé // Jul 30, 2013 at 11:40 PM

Or I could be clutching at straws 🙂 .

Mike Ashley is a smart man, doing the same thing he did last year and going into the season without reinforcements would be crazy.

If this happens I think some fans will have had it and boycott the ground.

  • 17 Belfast // Jul 30, 2013 at 11:40 PM

I’ve got a feeling we’ll be here in 3 weeks time moaning about the same thing lol

Hope i’m wrong and Kinnear suprises me

  • 18 Black and White with an army lol // Jul 30, 2013 at 11:41 PM

    oh i forgot

Mbaye Niang ( ha, don’t make laugh, he’s a top young player with a sell on fee, not MA cup of tea now )

  • 20 Black and White with an army lol // Jul 30, 2013 at 11:43 PM

here’s a thought — if MA has put he club up for sale then why would he buy players???????????

  • 21 MacToon // Jul 30, 2013 at 11:44 PM

I’ll ask them to save a shirt for you Belfast lol

The next NUFCFansUTD meeting is tomorrow evening if anyone’s interested:

  • 24 jimmysmith // Jul 30, 2013 at 11:47 PM

Joe was brought to take over only one aspect of Llambreezies multi faceted job and he’s apparently worse at this one very thing his predecessor got 86’d for and the one very thing he’s there to do. We really are run by hacks.

Who said I haven’t already Belfast….. Noticed you’ve got a thing with Wraith and his radio show lol, he’s actually helping set up Harper’s testimonial match and he organised the entertainers match a few years ago with KK’s toon against Liverpool. He quite often gets bad press imho.

  • 28 toonicle // Jul 31, 2013 at 12:31 AM

Interesting. He would be a great addition.

  • 29 Greebol1892 // Jul 31, 2013 at 2:09 AM

Rubbish – not a chance of getting this lad. All ready proved we have no ambition to seriously sign anyone this window.

  • 30 Premiership Manager // Jul 31, 2013 at 7:07 AM

Toon Avenger Pardew also let it slip that Joe will bring one player over the line during the post Blackpool match interview and then reiterated that we have a strong squad.

My guess is that he is getting very frustrated by the lack of support and is dropping hints to let the fans know what is going on behind the scenes.

I’ve always maintained that JFK has been bought in as the hatchet man to weed out the surplus players and cut down the wage bill while recruiting kids to replace established players. Because we are overloaded with central midfielders if an offer comes in for Cabaye, Tiote or HBA they will not be replaced as we have Anita, Bigi, Vucic and Gosling to step straight into their shoes.

Lots of fans have written Gosling off however if he gets fit and gets an established run in the first team he will surprise a lot of fans as he is a good typical English central midfielder who just needs first team football and a run in the team.

We need a forward and I wouldn’t be surprised if that is the only senior player we sign.

Would love to see Moses on loan with an option to buy as that would suit Chelsea who also have Bertrand and Lukaku coming through the ranks, which means that Moses may be surplus to requirements. However that is something that will escape the likes of JFK and Ashley as it makes good sense and would be a sound business proposition.
