Newcastle “Strongly Interested” In Top French U21 Forward

18 year-old French U21 International Mbaye Niang joined AC Milan from Caen last summer, and English clubs Arsenal, Everton, and Tottenham Hotspur were also interested in him at that time.

Niang plays primarily as a forward, and he can play on either wing and in attacking midfield too, and he’s one of the best young French players around, and he made his debut at the age of 16 in April of 2011, in a league match for Caen against Toulouse.

While Sampdoria are said to be very interested in the French youngster the Italian media are reporting that Newcastle are strongly interested in the youngster, who can also play up front as a striker, and has style (and looks) is like that of former Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli, who is also now at Milan.

Milan paid €3M (£2.5M) for him last summer, but he played 25 times for the Italian side last season, and he will be worth more than that now.

There are reports in La Gazzetta dello Sport that Newcastle are supposed to be strongly interested in the 18 year-old.

While at Caen, Niang played 30 times with 5 goals for the first team before he left for Italy last summer, when he was only 17.

With Newcastle losing out on strikers Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and maybe Bafetimbi Gomis, Newcastle will be looking at their list of strikers, to see who else they can go after this summer.

Niang could be one of those players, but there are lots of top clubs following this Frenchman’s progress in Italy.
