    Very well taken goal.

If he can start doing that in the league again…

James Troisi is now co-owned by Atlanta and Juventus… Something must be wrong!

    wow!!! Great goal

  • 5 Rooster // Jul 31, 2013 at 1:52 AM

A win is a win, comfortable, we had chances for more, but we got put under serious pressure by an average st Mirren, Pardew again shut up shop and rode out the win, again its a win, but we cant ride these storms throughout a season again we got caught time and again last season, please learn Pardew, its awful watching us defend 1 goal leads.

  • 6 arroeben // Jul 31, 2013 at 3:52 AM

Wow never thought he could control the ball! Credit to sammy who played it early. If not cisse was running straight for offside there!

Our midfield should start playing it early instead of waiting him to run past defenders(and being offside) then pass.

  • 7 arroeben // Jul 31, 2013 at 3:53 AM

But then again great finish by cisse!! Looking like the cisse of our 5th pos finish season!

  • 8 djm... // Jul 31, 2013 at 4:18 AM

Ermmm.. I don’t think you will find a player that can’t control a ball like that! Plus all he did was run in behind the full back, looking along the line like that he wouldn’t have strayed offside.

  • 9 gonufc (not Arf' bad) // Jul 31, 2013 at 4:44 AM

@arroeben – About playing the ball early- that is exactly right. The only player i think who really feeds Cisse the way he wants is Cabaye. He spots the run early enough that Cisse’s runs are actually timed well.

It’s all this hoofing which is making him look below par- what’s he actually expected to do with those Pardew lumps forward?

    wow… like a new signing

  • 11 swemag // Jul 31, 2013 at 5:07 AM

Toon should look to Brazil and Cruzeiro, get Ricardo Goulart and Vinícius Araújo. Forget about Bent, Gomis and Remy.

  • 12 gonufc (not Arf' bad) // Jul 31, 2013 at 6:06 AM

@swemag – To be honest, it looks like we’ll be lucky if Kinnear and Ashley actually look ANYWHERE this summer.

TV money goes up by 70% (!) and yet we are still spending nothing at all- the exact reason why after last summer we had such a terrible season- we bought one squad player in Anita (good signing though he is) when we needed improving- same this year to a greater extent and we are looking to only buy one first team player!

It’s at best unbelievable and at worst truly insulting.

  • 13 Santon03 // Jul 31, 2013 at 6:21 AM

The story about Niang might be true.
AC Milan is struggling for cash right now, they are having trouble selling Robinho and they need the cash to get Honda transfer completed this summer. Otherwise Honda will be able to join Milan in January for free, but they want him now.
The asking price could be 7 to 8 mil.

  • 14 NotEvenGeordie // Jul 31, 2013 at 6:35 AM

Apparently Jamie Redknapp said last night that Remy would be joining Newcastle today. Here’s hoping.

  • 15 Toon73 // Jul 31, 2013 at 6:56 AM

Let me have a guess…Remy is in the north east today..? Must be sightseeing

  • 16 Dannyo // Jul 31, 2013 at 6:57 AM

    @Santon03
The story is true mate, and it’s already been denied by their manager and/or president. A year loan plus a €6M buyout bid was given from us.

  • 17 fog on the tyne // Jul 31, 2013 at 7:09 AM

Got a txt late last night saying meds booked at nutfield hospital today for a player, dont know who, but my man reckons its remy. This lad has been proven to talk a load of shhit before, ie bent medical few weeks back…

  • 18 Magpies-till-d3ath // Jul 31, 2013 at 7:13 AM

Okay I’ve looked over our possible XI. Finally think I’ve got it this time! Providing the Remy deal goes through(THIS TIME). How bout this?

    Krul
    Debuchy Coloccini M’Biwa Santon
    Cabaye Sissoko
    Ben Arfa
    Remy Cisse Gouffran

Ben Arfa as no. 10, chances will come. Remy’s pace. Gouffran’s became one of my favourite players the past couple of games. Think he’d be a great centre forward. He never stops running!

    Bench:

    Elliot
    Williamson
    Taylor
    Anita
    Tiote
    Marveaux
    Shola

Couple more back ups and we should be fine and dandy. Keep Ben Arfa fit and we’re flying. Cabaye gets back to form and Sissoko just does what he does and we’re looking good. Cisse scores 30 goals and a further 20 which are ruled out for offside and we gonna kill City! :D

  • 19 fog on the tyne // Jul 31, 2013 at 7:16 AM

    Here’s the txt;

Toon giving medical tomorrow, derek been up today with paperwork. Remy looking fav, will txt tmoro when he arrives. Sharon been phoning abbey, she off thurs?

  • 20 Santon03 // Jul 31, 2013 at 7:16 AM

    Dannyo

the story was denied or the bid was rejected?
I could understand if it was rejected, Milan only have Balo, El-Shaarawy, and Pazzini for strikers other than Niang.
So.. they are pretty much the same situation with us.

  • 23 Lilongwe Geordie // Jul 31, 2013 at 7:23 AM

    Santon/Dannyo,
I read that Milan were happy to loan him to us this year, but weren’t interested in attaching a buy option or fee for the end of it…

    Magpies til Death,
I get why people put HBA as a number 10, and he certainly has the talent to play there. I’m not sure whether he is intelligent enough, and unselfish enough to play it properly.

  • 24 Lilongwe Geordie // Jul 31, 2013 at 7:26 AM

    Santon,
Having Balo, Shaarawy, Pazzini and Niang is similar to having Cisse, Goofy, Shola and Campbell? Only in the sense that they have 4 attackers, huge gulf in terms of quality. 4 quality strikers is all most top clubs would have, maybe 3 and 1 for developing.

  • 25 Santon03 // Jul 31, 2013 at 7:26 AM

Milan only have Balo & Pazzini as real strikers, we have Shola and Cisse. El-Shaarawy is not real striker, he is like HBA. Niang is like Sammy or Campbell. They have cheap and thin squad, but they will be in CL and they are planning to off load Boateng and Robinho, because of their wages, money coming in from those 2 will be used to bring in Honda probably 7 to 8 mil.

Honda is much better than Gomis, his contract is also expiring soon and Lyon is asking 10mil plus 2mil add on for Gomis? It’s ridiculous and it’s even more ridiculous that a lot of people angry we refused to pay that amount.

    I hate rumours

  • 29 Santon03 // Jul 31, 2013 at 7:30 AM

    Lilo

Yes, they have much better quality, but they also have defects. Balo isn’t actually easy character to manage and El Shaarawy is bit injury prone.
Pazzini is a goal poacher probably same quality as Cisse. Their midfield are young, but they play great and better football. Not taka tiki, but more direct and attacking football.

Santon…it is a recurrent topic on this blog, but most people seem to love spending other people’s money :-D

    …it is so easy!

So…it is August and still no signing! Wonder what a guy like Joke is doing to keep himself busy lol

  • 31 Santon03 // Jul 31, 2013 at 7:36 AM

    Indian

Robinho also injured, so.. they are really thin.

  • 32 Lilongwe Geordie // Jul 31, 2013 at 7:36 AM

    Santon,
All players have defects. Most of the top players are difficult to manage. Anyway, I wasn’t having a go at you, they aren’t really similar to us as the quality is much higher. That is what we need to improve. We have strikers in the squad, just most would say they aren’t good enough/ready.

Anyway, Robinho is staying now, as his move to Santos fell through, that is why Niang is available for loan, although Robinho picked up a knock and could miss the qualifier which is why they want Niang to stay until after that.

    RVD,
Yeah, had a listen to that last night after someone posted it. Quite interesting, and worth a listen.

I would have Joey back in a heartbeat, he has the quality, but he also has that tenacity, drive, and the will to win that we seemed to lack at times last season. Shame he wouldn’t come back.

  • 36 nut meg // Jul 31, 2013 at 7:42 AM

    Lilo@22
    Good morning /afternoon Lilo
I feel the same about HBA. I don’t think he shows any real responsibility & I feel he also loses the ball a wee bit too much/hangs onto a tad too long also.
Have you seen much of Dusan Tadic from FC Twente ? I seem to recall he was mentioned a good few months ago ( and yesterday by someone on here ) so I had a quick look at his stats 1/ played 101 2/ 26 goals 3/ 43 assists which is very decent imho. Your opinion would be appreciated.

  • 37 Indian Magpie // Jul 31, 2013 at 7:42 AM

    other people’s money?

Does the club have no money. It is wasted by paying money to the likes of pardew and Kinnear

  • 38 Santon03 // Jul 31, 2013 at 7:42 AM

    Lilo

    I know.
They may have better quality at front, but they are also as thin as us. Their mid and def, probably equal with us. If Balo and El-Shaarawy are injured they will have big problem especially if they play 3 times a week.

They have better manager and coaches, that’s the big different imo.

  • 39 Santon03 // Jul 31, 2013 at 7:43 AM

    We mean Gomis and Honda.

  • 40 jesperfuglsang - captain of the lemon crew // Jul 31, 2013 at 7:47 AM

Indian…which part of my post is hard to comprehend mate?

…should be quite straight forward what I meant, but I will happily spell out the facts for you. ;-)

  • 41 Lilongwe Geordie // Jul 31, 2013 at 7:52 AM

    Nut meg,
I don’t really know too much about him, but a quick look over his stats seem to show he is a player who is getting progressively better. 12 goals and 14 assists last season from mainly RW is a good record, and improved on his goals and assists from the previous 2 seasons, which is crucial when looking at a player coming from a weaker league. You don’t want them to have plateaued as a general rule. I guess we are talking in the region of 7-10million pounds for him so that would be a stumbling block for us I’d imagine, especially as reports are linking Arsenal and Everton with him as well.

    Santon,
You could say that about most clubs though. Just look at how poor Barca were minus Messi, or PSG if Ibra was out(obviously Cavani remedies that slightly). Milan would still have Robinho, Pazzini who are both international strikers and very good back up imo.

  • 42 jesperfuglsang - captain of the lemon crew // Jul 31, 2013 at 7:59 AM

Doesn’t Twente play with three men up front so to speak?

…the Dutch brand of football (total football)

If is not like he plays RW in the sense of English word ;-)

  • 43 RonVanDam // Jul 31, 2013 at 8:00 AM

You have been yellow carded, indian, take time to cool off, gather your thoughts and come back :)

  • 44 Lilongwe Geordie // Jul 31, 2013 at 8:09 AM

    Jesper,
If we got Remy, then he would be Left Wing in the Dutch Style with A.N.Other on the right for me, HBA, maybe. Tadic would be an ideal fit in that case. :-) That would be the way that best suits Cisse imo.

  • 45 ToonDanno // Jul 31, 2013 at 8:13 AM

    @37 Indian magpie

The club has money, MA operates the club with the profit it makes so its self sufficient. Do you think Mike will invest more of his money after finding the club owed further 100+m to its creditors after purchase? Best thing he did was pay it off on behalf of the club from his own pocket and no charge any interest.

As for pardew, he is on 30k a week. His contract is filled with objective incentives and bonuses. He’s a ok coach, still learning, I’m sure there are younger and better coaches out there but who wants to work for MA and his underhand tactics, on top of that he doesn’t pay much.
Pardew is the best we can AFFORD, I for one can’t fathom his team selection and tactics at times but in time he’ll be good enough to keep us in the top 10 chasing for that Europa spot

  • 50 Offkey // Jul 31, 2013 at 8:26 AM

    Mike Ashley 14/09/2008

I was always prepared to bank roll Newcastle up to the tune of £20 million per year… That was my bargain. I would make the club solvent. I would make it a going concern. I would pour up to £20 million a year into the club and not expect anything back.

    Alan Pardew 25/02/2011

Mike wants to build something here but wants to build it in such a way it’s not costing him £10m or £15m a year of his own money.

………………………………………I prefer the first 5 year plane

Really? Can we be categorized with Barca and PSG as well?
Milan are nolonger in the same category with those clubs, you could say they are down graded to our category. Now they are pretty much like us, they can’t even pay Honda’s transfer which is 7mil according to CSKA. They were in financial ruin and probably still, they have to let go a lot of players (big erners like Nesta, Gatuso, Inzaghi, Pirlo, Seedorf, Pato, Zambrotta, Van Bommel) and those players understood why. The difference is their name still big, and players are proud and want to play for Milan. People around the world know Milan, but NUFC maybe not.
It is reality that we are not giants or one of the big boys and Milan are nolonger one of the big boys.
I love AC Milan and I have followed them longer than NUFC, I accept the fact that they are nolonger in the same league with Barca, Madrid, PSG.
You can compare Milan with NUFC, Everton, Spurs.
