Loic Remy Finally Signs For Newcastle – It’s Official

8:54 pm, Monday, August 5th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 265 Comments

Just got back home from giving my daughter Elaine a lift back to her home, from one of her make-up appointments, and we see that Newcastle have finally signed Loic Remy from QPR on a season-long loan deal – which of course is great news – Loic is a terrific striker.

loic remy joe kinnear

Loic Remy – with Joe Kinnear

This is what the 26 year-old 18 times capped French International said after signing along the dotted line:

“I’m very happy to be a Newcastle player.” “It will be a huge honor to play for such a big club. I was very flattered by the club’s interest in me back in January, and also very happy that they showed interest in me again this summer.”

“The Premier League is the best league in the world and that’s where I want to play.” “I am very motivated this year to get into the World Cup squad for my country. I know in order to do that I need to have a big season and a successful campaign with Newcastle United.”

“I am focused on helping the team achieve success this season and scoring as many goals as I can.”

Newcastle United’s Director of Football, Joe Kinnear, added this:

“”The need for us to strengthen up front was a priority and I have been working very hard to secure one of our targets in this position.” I’m delighted to have secured Loic for the season.”

“Now we have him I’m sure he’ll be a huge success for us; I know he’s hungry for goals and is absolutely committed to helping us achieve success this season.”

And Newcastle manager Alan Pardew was also delighted to have Loic on board:

“Loic is a great player and I’m delighted that Joe has got him on board for us.” “He’ll be a great addition to the squad, he gives us strength and pace up front and I’m sure he’ll bring plenty of goals.”

“It’s a big season for Loic, like it is for all our international players ahead of the World Cup, which will only provide extra incentive for him to play at the very top of his game.”

Joe Kinnear had said yesterday in a rather good interview he gave to Sky Sports, that Loic could be signed today or tomorrow, and it’s to Joe’s credit he has made this signing, even though it took a long time.

So it’s a first for Joe, and maybe he is getting to know the job he has been hired for – and that’s good.

And now surely we have the momentum to now tie up the services of a certain 27 year-old Bafe Gomis from Lyon, and after seeing this news, Bafe must be more determined than ever to arrive on Tyneside – he’s a bright lad is Gomis. :D

We always thought at the very least we needed one top striker brought in during the summer, and then with Papiss Cisse, Yoan Gouffran and Shola Ameobi we would be in decent shape, and this signing will be a huge relief to Newcastle fans everywhere.

But as Kinnear said yesterday, he is determined to bring in at least one more striker, and that will probably be French International Gomis – we hope it will be French International Gomis.

And after he’s achieved that, Joe has said he will go after one more player to strengthen a specific position at Newcastle, so it will be interesting to see who that may be – but first things first, and we need Bafe Gomis on Tyneside as the next signing.

Congratulations to Joe Kinnear, and what Joe needs to do in this job to be really successful,  is simply to bring in some excellent players to Newcastle, and convince owner Mike Ashley to spend the money.

Loic Remy is not a bad start.

Did I say this was excellent news? :D

    excellent!!!! and about time!

lets just hope there’s some clause that gives a chance of making it permanent in jan or at the end of the season.

  • 2 geordie157 // Aug 5, 2013 at 8:57 PM

    so who’s next Gomis, then Bent…………………….then ince………….McCarthy…….Sinclair………….Zoet……

    Yes, optimism is back baby!!

  • 3 croftus5678 // Aug 5, 2013 at 8:57 PM

comon get us a winger now times running out !!!!
and pls sign gomis also we will need him.

  • 4 Rainrix // Aug 5, 2013 at 8:57 PM

    Better late then never :)

  • 5 Toon73 // Aug 5, 2013 at 8:58 PM

    Yeeeeaaahhh!!

    All hail JFK !!

  • 6 Robby Bobson // Aug 5, 2013 at 8:58 PM

Remy hs gone up in my estimation as a footballer since January.

I was always excited by him but short he was all about pace power and a hard shot…but some of the finishes for QPR showed goal scoring instinct, a touch of class and finesse.

For instance his first goal against west ham, side footing the ball near post from 20 yards when one on one. His goal vs Wigan speaks for itself.

  • 7 ToonDanno // Aug 5, 2013 at 8:58 PM

Gomis in then were all but there! Nice to see everyone getting that buzz back

  • 8 Toon73 // Aug 5, 2013 at 8:59 PM

Took him 6 months to find SJP

  • 9 89Norcal // Aug 5, 2013 at 8:59 PM

Well I’ll be damned..the Joker delivered.

I’ll withold my celebrations until he’s scoring goals though. But all in all Remy will be an excellent backup for Jonas.

  • 10 croftus5678 // Aug 5, 2013 at 8:59 PM

would love to see a young english lad next who can break into the england team and make watching that excuse for a country worth watching.

  • 11 Big Pappa Cissé // Aug 5, 2013 at 8:59 PM

Our strongest team now IMO is :

    ——————————-Krul——————————-

    –Debuchy——–M’biwa——–Collocini——–Santon–

    ——Sissoko—————Cabaye—————-Anita——

    ——-HBA——————Cisse—————–Remy——

I think this team has nice balance as Anita can cover Santon as he used to be a Left back, and he also has pace and can get down the line and cross. Same with Sissoko.

Also with that team we have one of the strongest benches I have seen NUFC have for a long time :

    Subs – Elliot,Haidara,Taylor,Tiote,Gutierrez,Marv,Gouffran

    Wow :)

Just logged on and shock joe has got a star for us … Kitkat dropped in my coffee

  • 14 Robby Bobson // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:00 PM

Also how much of a farce is the new home kit launch. Since when does the new kit get released after the first game of the season.

Gonna have to go Man city in my Perch 14 shirt!

  • 15 AmeriToon // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:00 PM

Hopefully we can sign Ince/Sinclair, Zoet and alderweild

  • 16 Big Pappa Cissé // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:01 PM

Well done Joe Kinnear, If I see you in Town I will buy you a pint. Can’t guarantee I wont spit in it like :)

i’ll add Menez to my list.

  • 18 sks_toon // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:01 PM

I hope we get a defender, it is odd that we haven’t been linked with one recently .

What’s the latest on Gomis, ToonDanno?

Doesn’t sound too convincing he wants to be here?

  • 21 89Norcal // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:02 PM

    BPC,
Something is not right with your lineup. Think it has to do with that left wing area….

  • 22 geordie157 // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:03 PM

    Big Pappa

Just the signing of Remy makes the side look stronger and more balanced. and no Shola or Obertan in sight!!

  • 23 JFK junior // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:03 PM

Who is going to be the first person to get negative and find fault in this deal…thus bringing the mood down??!! Place your bets…

Apparently we have a clause written in which states we have first refusal and can activate his release clause (by paying it minus 2mil) at any point this season. Awesome!!!

  • 24 Robby Bobson // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:03 PM

    goerdie 157

calm down, Menez is Ben Arfa class we’ll get nowhere near him!

I’d be happy with just Gomis, anything on top of that is a plus.

  • 25 jayjo // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:03 PM

    8m for ince too much

  • 26 Jail for Ashley // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:04 PM

Great signning if he stays out of jail.
    Sean….

  • 27 Toon73 // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:04 PM

Wonder the fine points of the deal? Do we get first crack at signing him permanently?

  • 28 Novocastrian66 // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:04 PM

That’s not Remy, it’s Marveaux holding Remy’s shirt:)

  • 29 geordie157 // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:04 PM

Alderwiereld can surely be got, he considered Norwich. Get him signed.

  • 30 low fell mag // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:05 PM

This man is top draw, thankfully he is here at last ,worried at times that Spurs were going to hijack the deal’
Keep up the good work Joe, looks like im going to Ibrox.

  • 31 Robby Bobson // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:05 PM

    JFK junior…i can.

Remy has a cracking season, doesnt get locked up, someone whispers in his ear Arsenal want him, he refuses to join us and goes there.

Who cares though, good to see proper top top class players being brought in.

  • 32 croftus5678 // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:06 PM

    @19 toon73

gomis does want to be here he wouldnt have agreed personal terms over 3 weeks ago and added some of our players to his twitter account if he did not !

the problem is his sell on fee ! ol want it wavered because he was in a court case which apparently made them look bad..so they are waiting to see if gomis backs down under pressure.

  • 33 Jail for Ashley // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:06 PM

Personally I think it should be the manager in that photo or maybe it is !

  • 34 Big Pappa Cissé // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:06 PM

    @ Norcal

Yeah Gutierrez will probably start but doesn’t hurt to dream :)

  • 35 Toon73 // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:06 PM

Wow! Out of the blue signing. We’re we ever linked with Remy???

    Never saw this coming :)

  • 36 Premiership Manager // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:07 PM

Cisse, Remy and Gofran, Campbell and HBA are all we need up front. I don’t want the club to sign Gomis and would rather we bought or loaned a young up and coming player like Moses.

Not sure if we’ll make anymore signings but a couple of up and coming hungry young players would be my choice.

  • 37 geordie157 // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:07 PM

sorry, i’ll decrease my level of optimism.

I’ll settle for Gomis and Ince then!

Wonder if the deal is, we get first option if QPR don’t come back up (which is unlikely, but they could bottle it a la Wolves).

  • 38 ToonDanno // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:07 PM

Toon73 expect deal to take off in next couple days.80% of deal already agreed

Has any one else seen that both Ince and alderweiled are on the last years of their contracts? Yet they would still cost massive fees? We should try and get both of them, Mbiwa and alderweiled combo at cb could be devastating for other teams and ince would gives us some great width

i dont know the fee but would guess at around that lol…ol are broke though so they are after every penny and obv gomis is entitled to it (nothing to do with us) in court gomis wins hands down so ol just trying to pressure him incase we sign someone else.

ince will get far far more assists than sinclair tbh his vision is great (in fact blackpool are playing now if you get a stream) and think sinc/ince will both get around the same goals also so imo ince is worth the 8mil even though he’s untested !

Cautious optimism today but will reserve judgement, good or bad, for the 2nd of September when we can all calculate MA’s net investment this window and assess our squad after all in comings and outgoings. No questioning Remy’s ability on the pitch, even if his character is somewhat questionable. If he bangs in the goals and provides a bit of excitement at SJP then it will be a welcome change from watching Cisse get caught offside six times per match. Will Cisse still be with us though?

  • 84 Newcastle for alltid // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:28 PM

Great news, to finally land a quality striker this summer is a relief! Couldn`t be happier.

It would be great to see another striker/winger through the door though, and be able to play an effective 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1, like we did with Ben Arfa, Cissè and Ba. Still, I don`t think we need two more. Some of you ask for both Gomis and Menez, which is a mouth-watering thought in itself. But since we often blur the lines between wingers and strikers these days, with players like Gouffran and Remy capable of operating as both. We would have Ben Arfa, Cissè, Remy, Gomis, Menez, Gouffran and Marveaux essentially competing for 3 slots, since we would probably use Cabaye or Sissoko as CAM. IMO that would be overkill. We would have players on the bench who is essentially too good to be on the bench, and would probably end up in a rotation – which could hurt continuity. We should`t sign big names just for the sake of it. Big egos have a tendency to be complacent when placed on the bench – whereas players like Gouffran, Marveaux, Obertan, Campbell etc would see it more as motivation to push the established players. One more offensive signing should do it, even though in reality it`s enough with just Remy IMO.

  • 85 toonicle // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:29 PM

I’ll admit I wasn’t thrilled with the idea of gettng him, but finally having a first team signing in is wonderful news! Got a feeling it’s going to be a good season with Remy Cisse and HBA up front.

I think the only way we’ll find out is the hard way and if he’s scored say 10 goals by January and we haven’t given him a four/five year contract then you’ll know he’s going back to QPR.

Ha ha, well enjoy your sherry, I’ll be at Durham next Monday kitted out in WG Grace gear :)

  • 102 Jamesthefirst // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:38 PM

Hats off to Remy. He could’ve easily engineered a move elsewhere. He’s realised the mistake he made in Jan and coming here to rectify it with plenty of goals.

Don’t want Ince. Not in the class of Vuckic. He should be in the squad every weekend.

  • 103 Big Pappa Cissé // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:38 PM

good to see torq make an appearance!

@blew, light years away? if he was 5-6mill he’d be a great addition and a useful option off the bench. Plus it would mean no more Obertan!!!!

  • 106 JackButler // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:39 PM

Any word on whether Remy will play any part tomorrow night???

  • 107 lesh // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:39 PM

    Right. There’s Joe’s first.

Now, last window it was 5 incomers in a short space of time.

His challenge for the next few weeks is better those deals in terms of overall quality and he’ll have cracked it!

  • 108 kevymartins // Aug 5, 2013 at 9:40 PM

If we play 4-3-3 with Remy and HBA what effect does everyone think will be the pressure on the defensive, both Remy and HBA wont track back, serious attacking force with attacking full backs but think the midfield will have to be top draw.

    lesh,
Band B assures me that Jak Alnwick is good for third choice, despite the goals against I am fairly comfortable with Elliot as second, so I would like to see a LW and RB that could possibly challenge Debuchy brought in, I’ve just looked on NUFC.com and they also find it strange that it is Kinnery rather than Pards photographed with the new loan signing.

We can have 17 foreign players, we have 16.
We can have 25 players, we have 23, so if we want 25 players we have to get another home-grown in.

    Home-grown (7)
    Krul
    Elliot
    Williamson
    R Taylor
    S Taylor
    Gosling
    Ameobi

    Foreign (16)
    Coloccini
    Santon
    Yanga-Mbiwa
    Debuchy
    Cabaye
    Sissoko
    Anita
    Ben Arfa
    Amalfitano
    Gutierrez
    Marveaux
    Tiote
    Obertan
    Cisse
    Gouffran
    Remy

    Jail,

I here you, but we won’t see chunky with any new signings. He’s just got his wingman to sort it out. Do DoF’s do it at other clubs? I don’t know.
It shouldn’t bother Pardew though, think he’s still up in the political struggle.
If JFK delivers a few more class signings then all eyes are back on Pardew!
Was JFK not quoted somewhere about using a DoF role to get back into management? He hasn’t done anything yet to suggest constructive dismissal. What will annoy me is if Pardew gets the boot for bad results, for reasonable compo due to a contract clause why did he last the season?

  • 208 bollance // Aug 5, 2013 at 10:32 PM

    Downing or bent?

Fee and wages more or less the same. Both 29 and former England players.

  • 209 Shearer.Milburn // Aug 5, 2013 at 10:33 PM

KEVYMARTINS could be on to a belter chant with Lets Get Remy To Rumble!! Get Ant and Dec on board lol

  • 210 ToonBano // Aug 5, 2013 at 10:34 PM

Ive slated & laughed at Downing as much as the next man over the past couple of years…but i’d have him on the left wing over Jonas any day

  • 211 Spuggy // Aug 5, 2013 at 10:34 PM

Cabaye in forward role please not sissoko please. We have enough up front now.

  • 212 piers18 // Aug 5, 2013 at 10:34 PM

  • 213 Robby Bobson // Aug 5, 2013 at 10:34 PM

French XI anyone? Even with Amalfitano in goal and only three at the back, Obertan left wing would still be our weakest link .

    Amalfitano
    Debuchy Mbiwa Haidara
    Sissoko Cabaye
    Obertan Marveuex Ben Arfa
    Remy Gouffran

  • 214 Big Pappa Cissé // Aug 5, 2013 at 10:36 PM

    @ I am geordie

Its funny how as soon as someone mentions we have not seen the mackem troll Viv for a few hours, a first time poster suddenly surfaces and wants to know who it is rather than talk about a signing we have just made .

Oh and on Remy, he is much bettet than Altidore ;)

  • 215 Unbelievable Tekkers // Aug 5, 2013 at 10:37 PM

  • 216 tiotelly bonkers // Aug 5, 2013 at 10:37 PM

Its gomis birthday tomorrow be nice present for him to hav a medical and sign on the dotted line. Also remy on wiki say a newcasle player and number 14

  • 217 ToonDarnSarf // Aug 5, 2013 at 10:38 PM

I wish I had kept a list of those people insisting that we won’t sign anyone this summer…of course, they are probably still saying that we’ll now sell Cabaye to balance the books…

Excellent signing! If we get Gomis too then our forward line is looking excellent. Next targets should be 3rd choice GK (if Alnwick is not up to it or injury is bad?) and consider a RB too. And we should always be after young hungry players to push the first team.

    Four relevant comparisons:
    – us last summer
    – Everton now
    – our squad the season we got relegated
    – our squad when we were last in the CL

I think we win the first 3. The 4th probably not yet…

  • 221 papscrunt // Aug 5, 2013 at 10:40 PM

Finally some news! :D Although will we be going nuts when we find out he has a clause and buggers of him Jan? Also Alderweireld is up for grabs and £6m and Everton have made official moves for him.

    http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/aug/05/everton-ajax-toby-alderweireld?

  • 222 Big Pappa Cissé // Aug 5, 2013 at 10:41 PM

    @ gazza

Remy is right footed so playing him on the left allows him to cut in & shoot . Not rocket science, he is still a striker after all, not a winger looking to hit the line and cross it in.

  • 223 manxpie // Aug 5, 2013 at 10:43 PM

toonbano i can’t really remember or was bothered tbh but was downing still playing much for em much in the latter stages?
he’s certainly got talent n can whip a ball in plus it’d be quite funny gettin him at another massive loss for them

  • 224 kt97toonarmy // Aug 5, 2013 at 10:44 PM

Half of you think that just caz we signed remy that everything will b different nd we will start signing. Although I hope ur right but it ain’t gonna happen we might sign gomis but I won’t b surprised if that was it for our summer but I could be wrong. To b honest I hope I’m wrong caz we need more then that

  • 226 Pizzicato The Arizona Geordie // Aug 5, 2013 at 10:45 PM

Actually, I think one more good thing is that Remy and Ben Arfa play with each other @ Marseille before, and of coz the national team. If we are getting Gomis, that’s really the French international front line.

  • 227 kevymartins // Aug 5, 2013 at 10:45 PM

@Kt97 Didn’t Kinnear say we were going after 2 strikers and a winger?

  • 228 paul24 // Aug 5, 2013 at 10:46 PM

    @Big Pappa Cisse
    The numbers suggest otherwise

    Remy App=210 Goals=75
    Altidore App=191 Goals=74

That said, Jozy is a dirty mackem bastard, so numbers dont mean much ;)

    Kt97

If we just sign Gomis and Remy and nobody else leaves then that will be an excellent transfer window for us! We’re building a really good squad here and we can push on from there. The idea should be that youth players push the first team, the top players only leave for big money, and then we only have to sign someone who is already excellent.

Don’t be so negative, look at our squad if we get Gomis!

  • 235 Pizzicato The Arizona Geordie // Aug 5, 2013 at 10:50 PM

Besides Jozy being a scrum, the number would mean nothing because Jozy’s been playing in a lower-standard league.

  • 241 Pizzicato The Arizona Geordie // Aug 5, 2013 at 10:57 PM

I actually reckon HBA and Remy could switch throughout the whole match.

Yeah but he also said he gave krul his debut. Didn’t he?

  • 243 Big Pappa Cissé // Aug 5, 2013 at 10:59 PM

    @ gazza

I don’t suppose it matters really as him & Ben Arfa can switch as much as they want during a game. If it were me I would put Hatem on the side of the oppositions weakest full back .

  • 244 kevymartins // Aug 5, 2013 at 10:59 PM

@Pizzicato Fitst Ben Arfa has to stay fit and find form again.

  • 245 kevymartins // Aug 5, 2013 at 11:00 PM

@BPC Why not just just Ben Arfa a free role and let him go where he wants?

  • 246 Novocastrian66 // Aug 5, 2013 at 11:01 PM

Pizzicato The Arizona Geordie; That’ll be Liverpool trying to get HBA on the cheap. Funny how they,ve priced Downing around the same price they supposedly offered for Ben Arfa in Jan.

  • 247 yo-yo // Aug 5, 2013 at 11:01 PM

how do we get rid of that stupid installation racket ?

  • 248 Spuggy // Aug 5, 2013 at 11:03 PM

First Cisse has to find some form or remy will be replacing him up front.

  • 249 jimmysmith // Aug 5, 2013 at 11:04 PM

Joe looks genuinely happy and years younger alongside Remy in the photo, hope he isn’t getting a taste for more, but it is unlikely isn’t it, that at 66 and after a life threatening illness he’s out to knife a younger man in the back with the blessing of both their bosses. Maybe these guys can work together, although salad days, if there are to be any, rarely last. Toon, so intriguing!

  • 250 richyg01 // Aug 5, 2013 at 11:04 PM

Downing is a half decent winger, and we need one of them.

Fee being touted is £5M, sounds a decent deal to me.

    Would rather Downing over Bent.

Would prefer Menez or Ince over Downing tho.

  • 251 Sazzer // Aug 5, 2013 at 11:05 PM

    Jonas vs Downing?

  • 252 Pizzicato The Arizona Geordie // Aug 5, 2013 at 11:06 PM

@kevymartins, sadly true. I hope the fitness trainer could do something great for HBA.

@Novocastrian66, that’s sick of them. Having Downing in the team is just like wasting a spot.

  • 253 Pizzicato The Arizona Geordie // Aug 5, 2013 at 11:07 PM

    @Sazzer, I prefer Jonas.

  • 254 LEROI // Aug 5, 2013 at 11:07 PM

Why haven’t nufc.com reported this yet? Are they still warey of fake pics & reports? Should we wait on their full commital to this signing? Or are niall & biffa on the pxss in glaysgay b4 tomorrow’s friendly haha.

  • 255 richyg01 // Aug 5, 2013 at 11:07 PM

    @251

    Downing. He can cross

  • 256 kevymartins // Aug 5, 2013 at 11:08 PM

For me Jonas has more to offer than Downing, I know a lot of liverpool fans and they will all tell you he is useless he is far far to slow and can bearly get to the line to put a ball in he also played LB once when jose was out and they claim it was one of the worst performances the have seen anyone play in a liverpool shirt. I would take our chances else where 5 million could bring in a decent winger and not a liverpool reject running up there wage bill.

  • 257 jimmysmith // Aug 5, 2013 at 11:09 PM

I’d be well happy with Downing cos he can pass, cross and shoot, rarely gives the ball away and works his flank. We have plenty of flair there now, a little quality service from wide areas when needed and we are up and running.

  • 258 gazzaforever // Aug 5, 2013 at 11:09 PM

If it were me, big papa cisse, I would play with cisse and remy upfront with Benny CAM , but it wont happen.

  • 259 lukes26 // Aug 5, 2013 at 11:12 PM

jonas can defend. downing can cross.

prefer jonas. his acting abilities are superb. falls down at the slightest touch with such understatement

  • 260 Harley // Aug 5, 2013 at 11:16 PM

    ToonDarnSarf

I like reading your posts, you always talk sense.

I think anyone else we sign from now is for the bench. I can’t see us getting any better than we currently have as our first 11.

The bench looks great (especially if we get ince and gomis) but I don’t think we’ll be getting a right back.

Santon and mbiwa I feel are the cover there, with dummett and Haidara cover for left back. I’d love to see dummett really come through this season.

It’s amazing the lift a really top new signing can give. I think remy is a fantastic signing.

  • 261 aidytoon9 // Aug 5, 2013 at 11:16 PM

A good start so let’s hope a few more follows, it’s good people being in decent fettle things looking brighter.

Would like ince/ Sinclair now and another forward then we will have a decent squad.

  • 262 faustino asprilla newcastle // Aug 5, 2013 at 11:19 PM

    Krul
    Santon Coloccini Mbiwa Debuchy
    Anita Cabaye
    Marveaux Gouffran BenArfa
    Remy

  • 263 lesh // Aug 5, 2013 at 11:25 PM

Jail @136… do need a RB? Can’t Mbiwa play their as well as Santon?

Why Kinnear pictured with Remy? Coz Joe needs to establish himself after all the stick he’s had.

Nowt to worry about and we’ll see it again when Gomis and/or Bent sign up.

  • 264 AmeriToon // Aug 5, 2013 at 11:47 PM

I still wish we signed altidore. Granted i have an obvious prejudice for wanting him. But he would have one huge benefit and that is he would attract american fans. If the toon really wants to compete with the top four it needs to expand its fan base. The usa is about to explode with every epl game on tv and im afraid newcastle will miss a great opportunity to expand our fan base. The usa is just waiting to become black and white

  • 265 Shadow_Shearer // Aug 6, 2013 at 1:11 AM

Jfk got off 2 a really bad start, mis-prouncing top players names, insulting the the fans, all talk about how he’s goin 2 bring in quality, no action after weeks of not signing a single player. Left us all in a sense of frustration.
I know this is only one signing, but what a difference it makes. Also a 2nd signing of Gomis not far away.
Keep up the good work Joe and rest of the team involved in the transfer, what a story this could turn out 2 be, the man who brought back hope 2 the longest suffering fans!
