Loic Remy Finally Signs For Newcastle – It’s Official

Just got back home from giving my daughter Elaine a lift back to her home, from one of her make-up appointments, and we see that Newcastle have finally signed Loic Remy from QPR on a season-long loan deal – which of course is great news – Loic is a terrific striker.

loic remy joe kinnear

Loic Remy – with Joe Kinnear

This is what the 26 year-old 18 times capped French International said after signing along the dotted line:

“I’m very happy to be a Newcastle player.” “It will be a huge honor to play for such a big club. I was very flattered by the club’s interest in me back in January, and also very happy that they showed interest in me again this summer.”

“The Premier League is the best league in the world and that’s where I want to play.” “I am very motivated this year to get into the World Cup squad for my country. I know in order to do that I need to have a big season and a successful campaign with Newcastle United.”

“I am focused on helping the team achieve success this season and scoring as many goals as I can.”

Newcastle United’s Director of Football, Joe Kinnear, added this:

“”The need for us to strengthen up front was a priority and I have been working very hard to secure one of our targets in this position.” I’m delighted to have secured Loic for the season.”

“Now we have him I’m sure he’ll be a huge success for us; I know he’s hungry for goals and is absolutely committed to helping us achieve success this season.”

And Newcastle manager Alan Pardew was also delighted to have Loic on board:

“Loic is a great player and I’m delighted that Joe has got him on board for us.” “He’ll be a great addition to the squad, he gives us strength and pace up front and I’m sure he’ll bring plenty of goals.”

“It’s a big season for Loic, like it is for all our international players ahead of the World Cup, which will only provide extra incentive for him to play at the very top of his game.”

Joe Kinnear had said yesterday in a rather good interview he gave to Sky Sports, that Loic could be signed today or tomorrow, and it’s to Joe’s credit he has made this signing, even though it took a long time.

So it’s a first for Joe, and maybe he is getting to know the job he has been hired for – and that’s good.

And now surely we have the momentum to now tie up the services of a certain 27 year-old Bafe Gomis from Lyon, and after seeing this news, Bafe must be more determined than ever to arrive on Tyneside – he’s a bright lad is Gomis. 😀

We always thought at the very least we needed one top striker brought in during the summer, and then with Papiss Cisse, Yoan Gouffran and Shola Ameobi we would be in decent shape, and this signing will be a huge relief to Newcastle fans everywhere.

But as Kinnear said yesterday, he is determined to bring in at least one more striker, and that will probably be French International Gomis – we hope it will be French International Gomis.

And after he’s achieved that, Joe has said he will go after one more player to strengthen a specific position at Newcastle, so it will be interesting to see who that may be – but first things first, and we need Bafe Gomis on Tyneside as the next signing.

Congratulations to Joe Kinnear, and what Joe needs to do in this job to be really successful,  is simply to bring in some excellent players to Newcastle, and convince owner Mike Ashley to spend the money.

Loic Remy is not a bad start.

Did I say this was excellent news? 😀

Remy hs gone up in my estimation as a footballer since January.

I was always excited by him but short he was all about pace power and a hard shot…but some of the finishes for QPR showed goal scoring instinct, a touch of class and finesse.

For instance his first goal against west ham, side footing the ball near post from 20 yards when one on one. His goal vs Wigan speaks for itself.

Well I’ll be damned..the Joker delivered.

I’ll withold my celebrations until he’s scoring goals though. But all in all Remy will be an excellent backup for Jonas.

Our strongest team now IMO is :

    ——————————-Krul——————————-

    –Debuchy——–M’biwa——–Collocini——–Santon–

    ——Sissoko—————Cabaye—————-Anita——

    ——-HBA——————Cisse—————–Remy——

I think this team has nice balance as Anita can cover Santon as he used to be a Left back, and he also has pace and can get down the line and cross. Same with Sissoko.

Also with that team we have one of the strongest benches I have seen NUFC have for a long time :

    Subs – Elliot,Haidara,Taylor,Tiote,Gutierrez,Marv,Gouffran

    Wow 🙂

Also how much of a farce is the new home kit launch. Since when does the new kit get released after the first game of the season.

Gonna have to go Man city in my Perch 14 shirt!

Something is not right with your lineup. Think it has to do with that left wing area….

Who is going to be the first person to get negative and find fault in this deal…thus bringing the mood down??!! Place your bets…

Apparently we have a clause written in which states we have first refusal and can activate his release clause (by paying it minus 2mil) at any point this season. Awesome!!!

calm down, Menez is Ben Arfa class we’ll get nowhere near him!

I’d be happy with just Gomis, anything on top of that is a plus.

    JFK junior…i can.

Remy has a cracking season, doesnt get locked up, someone whispers in his ear Arsenal want him, he refuses to join us and goes there.

Who cares though, good to see proper top top class players being brought in.

gomis does want to be here he wouldnt have agreed personal terms over 3 weeks ago and added some of our players to his twitter account if he did not !

the problem is his sell on fee ! ol want it wavered because he was in a court case which apparently made them look bad..so they are waiting to see if gomis backs down under pressure.

Cisse, Remy and Gofran, Campbell and HBA are all we need up front. I don’t want the club to sign Gomis and would rather we bought or loaned a young up and coming player like Moses.

Not sure if we’ll make anymore signings but a couple of up and coming hungry young players would be my choice.

sorry, i’ll decrease my level of optimism.

I’ll settle for Gomis and Ince then!

Wonder if the deal is, we get first option if QPR don’t come back up (which is unlikely, but they could bottle it a la Wolves).
