Moussa Sissoko Wants His Friend At Newcastle

Moussa Sissoko got to know Bafetimbi Gomis when both players were in the full French squad, and while the transfer of Gomis to Newcastle is looking a little dodgy these days, the 23 year-old powerful Newcastle midfielder is still hoping Joe Kinnear can get the deal done before early September.

Motherwell v Newcastle United - Pre Season Friendly

Moussa Sissoko – wants Gomis at Newcastle

This is what Moussa said last night:

“Bafe Gomis is my friend and he says to me that he wants to come to Newcastle, but it is not easy with the President of Lyon or an agent.”

“I don’t know if it’s finished yet or not. If he comes here, it is a very good move for him. I will keep the message the same to him – we would like him to come to Newcastle. Maybe I will talk to him this week again.”

“Newcastle are a very good team and now we have to show it. The team is feeling good ahead of Manchester City. We have one of the toughest games you could have on the first game of the season but if I play well and hard maybe we can win there.”

In fact Bafe seems to be the innocent party in all of this, and has agreed terms with Newcastle and Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas has accepted Newcastle’s bid of up to €10M (long term) for the striker.

Bafe Gomis – his Newcastle move is still possible

The hold-up is his agents asking for exorbitant fees, so it must be difficult for the 28 year-old at the moment, so maybe it’s a good thing that Moussa gives him a call.

And we still think there’s a decent chance we can get Bafe in during the next three weeks, but ti’s a pity we didn’t get him a couple of weeks ago and he could have been ready for the start of the season – but better late than never..

What do you think?

Would like Gomis but there seems to be something fishy about the whole situation the young Belgium lad could potentially be better than Gomis

Only watched the highlights but he looks to have serious potential

Get him signed for about half the price of Gomis and put the money saved to get Ince !

Imagine if by the end of the week we had this guy , Sinclair and Ince signed ?? I would love it as the blog would go into meltdown

It always terrifies me when the lads say anything like this…

the belgian lad story is all guesswork if true at all !

i cant alter or change anything but if we only sign remy it will not have been a very good window imo as other teams have got stronger than us !

we need a winger or main striker with some muscle aswell as remy to move ahead of other clubs in our league.

how do you mean on saylor ?

my view of him is that he’s an avg cb great on some games but far too mistake prone in a lot of others with rash challenges that he definatly should know better for by now !
i think if anything people on here take saylor into a blinkered view for the fact he’s a homegrown and we obv want him to do well but reality is after watching him since he was a sprog he aint going to improve over what he is now and he will never become a collo or even near his class tbh.

The good thing about Joe Kinnear is that he got rid of the players that needed to go but his negotiation skills and attention to detail are horrible on the otherhand i wouldnt mind seeing DL back to take care of our transfers for Incomming players and Joe Kinnear to oversee players that need to leave

you can’t compare sailor and colo, they are very different types of cb’s with different strengths. the question is do they compliment each other, and I think they do. Mbiwa I suppose will get his chance through injury and needs to be able to forge a partnership with one or the other to stay there most likely.

croftus wat i mean is the constant bashing of him as an “average cb” that imo he is not !
and then the constant saying that m’bwia or “insert any other name here! usually players that have never played in this league” is so much better than him!
a load of bollicks in my eyes
and you say he’s prone to mistakes which is again over exagerated
tell me a defender that doesn’t make mistakes or the odd rash challenge? name 1?
infact just in pre-season our captain and starter has made 2 (penalty n sending off)! is he useless from now on?

    @9 jimmy

would you say saylor has a good partnership with anyone else at the club ?

    collo/saylor = ok-good most of the time
willo/collo= ok-good most of the time
    willo-saylor = >.<
    mbiwa/collo = imo best partnership

collo may be leaving us soon and we will be knackered if a collo doesnt carry our other defenders !

i cant compare mbiwa to saylor/willo either as he hardly does silly challenges or big lapses in concentration ect.

and since saylor has been at the club a long time now can you honestly say who was our best cb pairing while collo has not been in the team ? it was allways a problem for us.

ofc all players make mistakes they are only human its the consistancy of mistakes and choices they make that tells one defender from a better one imo.

and yes agree on collo he’s getting old now and will not be with us long he lost his legs a season or so ago and lives on his reading of the game now but he’s still our best cb atm purely for the fact that saylor/willo play mostly decent when collo is in the back 2 but when he’s out can you watch the game without hiding behind a cusion everytime the opposing team attack us ?

i base it on (i dont think collo needs to be explained tbh his organisation/reading and most decision making are mostly correct)
mbiwa is fast strong has more prescence i better final decision under pressure has good positional sence and has good vision and composure for building from the back (and yes agree not all his games are great games but like you say no one is 100% consistant) but most importantly for mbiwa is his track record in organising and leading the back line (when he learns english i.e. something to grow into)

croftus i had issue solely with people slating saylor as a defender and i believe he’s alot more than average thats wat you called me up on but i actually am more worried with anyone with m’bwia i.e willo paired wit mbwia
or saylor paired wit m’bwia or collo paired wit m’bwia!
just because he hasn’t proved himself and he’s the new boy
but to say he’s so much better than saylor is a joke and then to slate saylor for me ain’t a fan at all imo!

What i ment was if DL was still involved with with incomming transfers, i can bet my bottom dollar Gomis would already be a Newcastle player by now.

I think Joe’s appointment and rants gave us bad a publicity and on top of that he has a gift of messing up basic information he ought to know like player names, age etc…

When I look at stats earlier Mbiwa, Taylor and Willo had a least one major leak in their game and few minor. While I would say Colo only minor leaks.

I also looked at Sakho since thread was about him he did well in most categories. Even better than Colo in most of them.

That’s my assement from watching the games as well.

Although I’m bit suprise Taylor made so few tackles and interceptions.

Just checked…Cisse as more tackles and interceptions than S Taylor!

Also worth noting is that Sissoko and Anita has about half as many as Cabaye and Tiote.

Gouffran and Marv makes more than Obertan and Ben-arfa.

If you only go on tackles and interceptions or most hardworking team would be:
    Krul
    Santon Mbiwa Colo Haidara
    Sissoko Cabaye Tiote Jonas
    Cisse Gouffran

I’m not sure about that. Debuchy, Anita, De Jong and Douglas come to mind from last summer. Remy and Thauvin in January. And I’m still thinking Llambias and Barnetta is trying to get a deal done. =)

Sissoko started off like a house on fire, then tailed off a bit in fairness and his mystery injury robbed us of the last 4 games of the season, he for me needs to show up more in our games, goes missing a bit to much, an undoubted talent he just needs to impose himself on games and demand the ball, the ball that nearly always seems to go to tiote or Jonas, get that space attacked in front of him as well, he has loads of pace and a good engine, come on Moussa were are you as Delia would say!!!!

Our squad is far better than it was 2 years ago add one class centre forward and we’re in good shape. I can’t see why there is so much doom and gloom on this blog.

We aren’t going to get relegated, Palace, Hull, Stoke, Sunderland would be on my list for that fight.

Even with a dumb ass owner; DOF and an average manager. We might do suprising well support the lads it’s what we are after all… supporters.

Some of the teams people put out on here for the city game are ridiculous.

Away from home to one of the favourites to win the league? I understand any team can beat any other on the day but, putting santon at lb who a lot of you have already said isn’t a good defender to cover Jesus navas?

You need to balance the team, ben arfa, cabaye, gouffy and cisse up front? Your inviting them in!

Id say put mbiwa on the left (had Walcott in his pocket) and his decision making should see him stop navas 9 times out of 10.

Taylor n colo in the middle, proven pairing who can communicate where it matters.

Rb is tough because debuchy is an attacking full back, id have had simmo there if it was an option, as it’s not would tell him to not bomb forward too often.

Jonas n tiote in dm those two are in control of taking the ball from the attackers and building a counter as both can pick a pass, jonas box to box n tiote shouldn’t venture far from our box, he doesn’t add enough to attack anyway.

Ben on the left and gouffy on the right, when ben inevitably loses the ball hes got mbiwa behind him sweeping up rather than debuchy

Cisse hopefully playing the offside trap a bit better than usual.

That for me is well balanced team based defensively who can break quickly and cause problems on the attack.

It’s a matter of opinion but I’d go with Le Toon Army on this one. Taylor-Colo not as rock solid as some think. Taylor needs to up his game to get in the team. Two better internationals ahead of him there…
And HBA inevitably losing the ball? That’s so unfair. But if you think that you shouldn’t have him in your team.

Its not unfair, he loses possession, its well known, however when he keeps the ball and makes the runs we know he can he’s lethal, he also will make the defence worry, n thats why iv got him in.

And in regards to colo, Taylor 11 game unbeaten run suggests otherwise. I also cant stress enough how important I believe the two cb being able to communicate is and as mbiwa isn’t quite there with English it could, not saying it will, but its possible it might cause problems.
