Moussa Sissoko Wants His Friend At Newcastle

11:52 pm, Sunday, August 11th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 146 Comments

Moussa Sissoko got to know Bafetimbi Gomis when both players were in the full French squad, and while the transfer of Gomis to Newcastle is looking a little dodgy these days, the 23 year-old powerful Newcastle midfielder is still hoping Joe Kinnear can get the deal done before early September.

Motherwell v Newcastle United - Pre Season Friendly

Moussa Sissoko – wants Gomis at Newcastle

This is what Moussa said last night:

“Bafe Gomis is my friend and he says to me that he wants to come to Newcastle, but it is not easy with the President of Lyon or an agent.”

“I don’t know if it’s finished yet or not. If he comes here, it is a very good move for him. I will keep the message the same to him – we would like him to come to Newcastle. Maybe I will talk to him this week again.”

“Newcastle are a very good team and now we have to show it. The team is feeling good ahead of Manchester City. We have one of the toughest games you could have on the first game of the season but if I play well and hard maybe we can win there.”

In fact Bafe seems to be the innocent party in all of this, and has agreed terms with Newcastle and Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas has accepted Newcastle’s bid of up to €10M (long term) for the striker.

Bafe Gomis – his Newcastle move is still possible

The hold-up is his agents asking for exorbitant fees, so it must be difficult for the 28 year-old at the moment, so maybe it’s a good thing that Moussa gives him a call.

And we still think there’s a decent chance we can get Bafe in during the next three weeks, but ti’s a pity we didn’t get him a couple of weeks ago and he could have been ready for the start of the season – but better late than never..

Would like Gomis but there seems to be something fishy about the whole situation the young Belgium lad could potentially be better than Gomis

Only watched the highlights but he looks to have serious potential

Get him signed for about half the price of Gomis and put the money saved to get Ince !

Imagine if by the end of the week we had this guy , Sinclair and Ince signed ?? I would love it as the blog would go into meltdown

The team is feeling good ahead of Manchester City.

It always terrifies me when the lads say anything like this…

haha thump i agree (and also agree about the saylor hammering!! joke fans in my eyes!!)
but we do seem to do alot worse when players come out to say how confident we are jinxing seems to happen at this club more than most!!

  • 5 Sazzer // Aug 12, 2013 at 12:13 AM

    Great stuff!

  • 6 croftus5678 // Aug 12, 2013 at 12:17 AM

the belgian lad story is all guesswork if true at all !

i cant alter or change anything but if we only sign remy it will not have been a very good window imo as other teams have got stronger than us !

we need a winger or main striker with some muscle aswell as remy to move ahead of other clubs in our league.

  • 7 croftus5678 // Aug 12, 2013 at 12:23 AM

    @4 manxpie

how do you mean on saylor ?

my view of him is that he’s an avg cb great on some games but far too mistake prone in a lot of others with rash challenges that he definatly should know better for by now !
i think if anything people on here take saylor into a blinkered view for the fact he’s a homegrown and we obv want him to do well but reality is after watching him since he was a sprog he aint going to improve over what he is now and he will never become a collo or even near his class tbh.

  • 8 RonVanDam // Aug 12, 2013 at 12:24 AM

The good thing about Joe Kinnear is that he got rid of the players that needed to go but his negotiation skills and attention to detail are horrible on the otherhand i wouldnt mind seeing DL back to take care of our transfers for Incomming players and Joe Kinnear to oversee players that need to leave

  • 9 jimmysmith // Aug 12, 2013 at 12:29 AM

you can’t compare sailor and colo, they are very different types of cb’s with different strengths. the question is do they compliment each other, and I think they do. Mbiwa I suppose will get his chance through injury and needs to be able to forge a partnership with one or the other to stay there most likely.

  • 10 manxpie // Aug 12, 2013 at 12:32 AM

croftus wat i mean is the constant bashing of him as an “average cb” that imo he is not !
and then the constant saying that m’bwia or “insert any other name here! usually players that have never played in this league” is so much better than him!
a load of bollicks in my eyes
and you say he’s prone to mistakes which is again over exagerated
tell me a defender that doesn’t make mistakes or the odd rash challenge? name 1?
infact just in pre-season our captain and starter has made 2 (penalty n sending off)! is he useless from now on?

  • 11 croftus5678 // Aug 12, 2013 at 12:37 AM

    @9 jimmy

would you say saylor has a good partnership with anyone else at the club ?

    collo/saylor = ok-good most of the time
willo/collo= ok-good most of the time
    willo-saylor = >.<
    mbiwa/collo = imo best partnership

collo may be leaving us soon and we will be knackered if a collo doesnt carry our other defenders !

i cant compare mbiwa to saylor/willo either as he hardly does silly challenges or big lapses in concentration ect.

and since saylor has been at the club a long time now can you honestly say who was our best cb pairing while collo has not been in the team ? it was allways a problem for us.

  • 12 manxpie // Aug 12, 2013 at 12:43 AM

croftus wat do you base the collo m’bwia partnership being the best?

  • 13 manxpie // Aug 12, 2013 at 12:45 AM

and you say m’bwia doesn’t make mistakes or big lapses did you watch the liverpool game?

  • 14 croftus5678 // Aug 12, 2013 at 12:46 AM

    @10 manx

ofc all players make mistakes they are only human its the consistancy of mistakes and choices they make that tells one defender from a better one imo.

and yes agree on collo he’s getting old now and will not be with us long he lost his legs a season or so ago and lives on his reading of the game now but he’s still our best cb atm purely for the fact that saylor/willo play mostly decent when collo is in the back 2 but when he’s out can you watch the game without hiding behind a cusion everytime the opposing team attack us ?

  • 15 Sazzer // Aug 12, 2013 at 12:49 AM

I’m not sure what you are getting at. So far the difference haven’t been huge between the two.

  • 16 croftus5678 // Aug 12, 2013 at 12:51 AM

    @12 manx

i base it on (i dont think collo needs to be explained tbh his organisation/reading and most decision making are mostly correct)
mbiwa is fast strong has more prescence i better final decision under pressure has good positional sence and has good vision and composure for building from the back (and yes agree not all his games are great games but like you say no one is 100% consistant) but most importantly for mbiwa is his track record in organising and leading the back line (when he learns english i.e. something to grow into)

  • 17 manxpie // Aug 12, 2013 at 12:54 AM

croftus i had issue solely with people slating saylor as a defender and i believe he’s alot more than average thats wat you called me up on but i actually am more worried with anyone with m’bwia i.e willo paired wit mbwia
or saylor paired wit m’bwia or collo paired wit m’bwia!
just because he hasn’t proved himself and he’s the new boy
but to say he’s so much better than saylor is a joke and then to slate saylor for me ain’t a fan at all imo!

  • 18 manxpie // Aug 12, 2013 at 1:00 AM

    croftus @16
yes he might have all them attributes n potential but he certainly ain’t proved it yet has he? i totally agree he has the potential and i’m very excited by him but the constant slating of saylor who imo is a very good and competant defender is a joke!!

  • 19 RonVanDam // Aug 12, 2013 at 1:09 AM

    @ 15 Sazzer

What i ment was if DL was still involved with with incomming transfers, i can bet my bottom dollar Gomis would already be a Newcastle player by now.

I think Joe’s appointment and rants gave us bad a publicity and on top of that he has a gift of messing up basic information he ought to know like player names, age etc…

  • 20 Sazzer // Aug 12, 2013 at 1:11 AM

When I look at stats earlier Mbiwa, Taylor and Willo had a least one major leak in their game and few minor. While I would say Colo only minor leaks.

I also looked at Sakho since thread was about him he did well in most categories. Even better than Colo in most of them.

That’s my assement from watching the games as well.

Although I’m bit suprise Taylor made so few tackles and interceptions.

  • 21 Sazzer // Aug 12, 2013 at 1:29 AM

Just checked…Cisse as more tackles and interceptions than S Taylor!

Also worth noting is that Sissoko and Anita has about half as many as Cabaye and Tiote.

Gouffran and Marv makes more than Obertan and Ben-arfa.

If you only go on tackles and interceptions or most hardworking team would be:
    Santon Mbiwa Colo Haidara
    Sissoko Cabaye Tiote Jonas
    Cisse Gouffran

  • 22 Sazzer // Aug 12, 2013 at 1:37 AM

I’m not sure about that. Debuchy, Anita, De Jong and Douglas come to mind from last summer. Remy and Thauvin in January. And I’m still thinking Llambias and Barnetta is trying to get a deal done. =)

  • 23 Rooster // Aug 12, 2013 at 1:54 AM

Sissoko started off like a house on fire, then tailed off a bit in fairness and his mystery injury robbed us of the last 4 games of the season, he for me needs to show up more in our games, goes missing a bit to much, an undoubted talent he just needs to impose himself on games and demand the ball, the ball that nearly always seems to go to tiote or Jonas, get that space attacked in front of him as well, he has loads of pace and a good engine, come on Moussa were are you as Delia would say!!!!

“but if I play well and hard maybe we can win there.” i love moussa, but this is underwhelming to say the least… also, Hello everyone.

  • 29 soundoid // Aug 12, 2013 at 5:03 AM

Our squad is far better than it was 2 years ago add one class centre forward and we’re in good shape. I can’t see why there is so much doom and gloom on this blog.

We aren’t going to get relegated, Palace, Hull, Stoke, Sunderland would be on my list for that fight.

Even with a dumb ass owner; DOF and an average manager. We might do suprising well support the lads it’s what we are after all… supporters.

  • 30 soundoid // Aug 12, 2013 at 5:20 AM

Also keep a look out for Troy Deeney of Watford, 20 goals last season and missed the start of it because he was in prison. Scored 4 goals in 2 games already. He’s a bit like Leon Best on crack.

  • 31 jasper // Aug 12, 2013 at 5:49 AM

    Soundoid @ 29
Because the current coaching staff could make Barca look like a pub team, that’s why.

  • 32 SeanNufc87 // Aug 12, 2013 at 6:14 AM

Some of the teams people put out on here for the city game are ridiculous.

Away from home to one of the favourites to win the league? I understand any team can beat any other on the day but, putting santon at lb who a lot of you have already said isn’t a good defender to cover Jesus navas?

You need to balance the team, ben arfa, cabaye, gouffy and cisse up front? Your inviting them in!

Id say put mbiwa on the left (had Walcott in his pocket) and his decision making should see him stop navas 9 times out of 10.

Taylor n colo in the middle, proven pairing who can communicate where it matters.

Rb is tough because debuchy is an attacking full back, id have had simmo there if it was an option, as it’s not would tell him to not bomb forward too often.

Jonas n tiote in dm those two are in control of taking the ball from the attackers and building a counter as both can pick a pass, jonas box to box n tiote shouldn’t venture far from our box, he doesn’t add enough to attack anyway.

Ben on the left and gouffy on the right, when ben inevitably loses the ball hes got mbiwa behind him sweeping up rather than debuchy

Cisse hopefully playing the offside trap a bit better than usual.

That for me is well balanced team based defensively who can break quickly and cause problems on the attack.

  • 33 SeanNufc87 // Aug 12, 2013 at 6:17 AM

Oh and cabs linking play between dm to the front

  • 34 cyprus // Aug 12, 2013 at 6:33 AM

It’s a matter of opinion but I’d go with Le Toon Army on this one. Taylor-Colo not as rock solid as some think. Taylor needs to up his game to get in the team. Two better internationals ahead of him there…
And HBA inevitably losing the ball? That’s so unfair. But if you think that you shouldn’t have him in your team.

  • 35 SeanNufc87 // Aug 12, 2013 at 6:41 AM

Its not unfair, he loses possession, its well known, however when he keeps the ball and makes the runs we know he can he’s lethal, he also will make the defence worry, n thats why iv got him in.

  • 36 cyprus // Aug 12, 2013 at 6:42 AM

    Fair enough

  • 37 SeanNufc87 // Aug 12, 2013 at 6:44 AM

And in regards to colo, Taylor 11 game unbeaten run suggests otherwise. I also cant stress enough how important I believe the two cb being able to communicate is and as mbiwa isn’t quite there with English it could, not saying it will, but its possible it might cause problems.

Sean your on it this morning mate arnt ya-have you got a big board in front of you with all the strategies for our upcoming game lol.
In all seriousness lads I think as of yet this summer has been a disaster for Nufc, Both transfer wise and pre season warm up games.Everything feels dis-jointed-Like we are just treading water-Pards is already spouting the same bs as last season.
My optimism is wavering fast as the curtain raiser approaches guys !!

Morning. Nah as I said to bills, im being driven to Scotland so have a lot of time on my hands lol

The window could be worse tbf but I agree, bringing people in this late isn’t ideal but hopefully we will have a couple new faces before the window slams shut.

  • 45 jesperfuglsang - captain of the lemon crew // Aug 12, 2013 at 7:41 AM

    Morning lads!

So is anyone an agent in here or does anybody know how it really works with these people?

…can they just ask what ever they want and that if a player and club have agreed, but the agent is the hold up! Can the player do the transfer without the agent or change agent?

    How does it all work?

  • 46 jazzyp // Aug 12, 2013 at 7:42 AM

I hope your right mate as I think we desperately need them.
Take out the first eleven and I think our squad looks very very weak.I know they were only fringe players-perchinio -simpson -harper ect but they still played there part last season when injuries were ravaging the squad, And this is where I feel we are lacking in depth.

  • 47 eaststandgeordie1982 // Aug 12, 2013 at 7:45 AM

I think we will go back for gomis in jan as he will cheaper and cashley loves a bargin and saving money

  • 48 jazzyp // Aug 12, 2013 at 7:45 AM

    Good morning Jesper
Any other pl club seems to go in for a player and have a done deal within a few days.
Nufc go in for a player and it takes a few seasons lol

  • 49 Slank // Aug 12, 2013 at 7:45 AM

    Stan @ 44

Not knowing the stats but, it feels like there has been less transfer activity in the Premiership this window than previous windows although if you take a calender year view we have brought in quite a few, possibly more than many other teams.

  • 50 SeanNufc87 // Aug 12, 2013 at 7:48 AM

I agree, think simmo was a massive loss, perch I can understand as he was never getting a new contract really was he? But hopefully bigi or vukic can play that role, if not then it was poor business, would have made more sense to have the cover and lose out on the 700k for me.

  • 51 Slank // Aug 12, 2013 at 7:51 AM

    Jazz @ 48

‘….player and have a done deal within a few days’.

Rooney, Suarez, Fabregas, Luiz, and Renaldo ?

It might appear a few days but that is only the public perception. I’m sure that there would have been private talks and negotiations behind the scenes out of the public and press spotlight before any news leaks.

  • 52 headtheball // Aug 12, 2013 at 7:53 AM

As our esteemed manager used to be a glazier, perhaps he should replace this window.

  • 53 check the toastie // Aug 12, 2013 at 7:56 AM

The club needs a new manager, doesn’t matter who we sign or who is selected (granted Shola and Jonas/Tiote should not play) but it is the manager who is dragging the whole club down.

Ashley should be brave and appoint Gary Neville and draft in Mike Phelan and the backroom staff who have been shifted out of Man Utd, it is clear that these people know all about a winning mentality and also on how to actually be able to get a team to pass without having 4 or 5 touches first.

I am beginning to feel real hatred for what Pardew is doing to the club a love. What is a matter with the man, still picking Sammy over Marv.

If I was Marv or Anita or Goofy I would have put a transfer request in by now. Disgraceful manager.

  • 54 Slank // Aug 12, 2013 at 7:57 AM

    SeanNufc87 @ 50

Last season I can’t recall seeing or hearing a groundswell of support for Simmo not to leave because it would be a massive loss as he was so good a fullback.

We better start a campaign to keep Willo as he too will be a massive loss to the club. And Shola too of course.

  • 55 jazzyp // Aug 12, 2013 at 7:58 AM

True mate, If we are to let players leave then you would hope that the hierarchy have in place an allocated transfer kitty for every upcoming transfer window.
So you let or sell a player and reinvest in the squad to hopefully bring in a better quality player.
I know people keep saying we bought a flurry of players in January, But for me that was a must to keep us in the PL-And I think Ashley realised that.

  • 56 check the toastie // Aug 12, 2013 at 7:59 AM

Don’t know what is going on with all this Saylor bashing, the lad is a decent centre half when fit, don’t understand that one.

Wonder how many times Jonas and Tiote can give the ball away against Man City, looking forward to another ‘Groundhog Game’.

  • 57 check the toastie // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:02 AM

Simpson was totally limited and his footballing ability is average at best. Yep, granted he could stand in the RB slot and defend his area of the pitch, but is that what we are looking for in a full back. A player who liked to hide as soon as we had the ball. No it isn’t and the fact he has gone is good news.

If Simmo is/was so good how come not one PL club came in for him. He plays in the championship that tells the story of how good the lad was. For f#ck sake there are some serious clowns on here.

  • 58 jazzyp // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:02 AM

    Morning pal
Maybe you are quite right regarding transfers at other clubs.
I just look at Caulker to Cardiff-how easy that deal was done within a week…….Scumderland how easy they seam to have done deals ect.
All I am saying that we seam to have a ridiculous policy when it is getting transfer targets over the line !!

  • 59 Slank // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:06 AM

    Check @ 53

Gary Neville maybe able to talk the talk but can he walk the walk? As he is newbe at being a pundit why not go for more experienced pundits like Matt Le Tissier, Paul Merson, Phil Thompson, Charlie Nicholas or Alan Hansen, Mark Lawrenson or even mogodon Alan Shearer as I believe he has managed a club before – now how well did he do?

  • 60 nico // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:09 AM

Fact – At the moment Saylor is better than m’bwia.

Fact Collo and Saylor are our best central defensive partnership

Fact – All defenders make mistakes. Saylor doesn’t make many and always gives 100%

Fact – m’bwia has the potential to be an excellent player for us

Fact – We now have 3 very good centre backs

  • 61 Markaccus // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:10 AM

I assume that comment was aimed at me?

Unnecessary insult aside, we have one rb in the team, a very attack minded one, say what you like about simmo but 9 times out of 10 he was solid defensively.

The main point stands we have one right back.

It makes you wonder about Them-Down-The-Road. Was it so easy to recruit those players possibly because their clubs wanted to get rid of them ?

I just feel that the unwashed are going repeat what QPR did last year – hopefully !

  • 65 nico // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:12 AM

Jonas went off injured against Braga, hopefully he’ll be out for City game. That’s the only way Pardew will not play him.
I did used to like Jonas 2 seasons back. Now he gives the team little apart from tracking back. Problem is, he wins the ball then just gives it away or plays a pass to a player that has got 3 opponents around him.

  • 66 SeanNufc87 // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:13 AM

  • 67 check the toastie // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:14 AM

Slank – Gary Neville is already part of the England setup coaching, personally believe he knows his stuff and would make a good manager, he could bring along last years Man Utd coaching staff and there you have a team of winners in charge of looking after our super squad of players, instead of the bunch of no hopers we have.

Very clever insinuating that I think any TV pundit would be a good idea to run the club, I like how you did that, Brainiac.

  • 68 nico // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:14 AM

Don’t think so mate. QPR went out and spent big money on average players. Blunderland have spend low money on average players. Sadly, they will finish mid table.

  • 69 Markaccus // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:15 AM

I see stelling as more of a DOF. The dream team would be him in that role and Kammy as manager!

  • 70 Markaccus // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:18 AM

You probably shouldnt be on your high horse about slanks insinuation considering you were calling some people clowns on here, simply because they claimed simmo was solid defensively. Is no one allowed to jave a differing oppinion without being insulted?

With the ladbroooks fella as an attacking coach, that fella can hit a ball like a rocket!

  • 74 Premiership Manager // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:20 AM

I got bored of the slating of Simpson and it’s the same as Taylor. One of the reasons our defence suffered last year was our inability to retain possession and pass the ball in the middle of the park. Because our attacking players always cut in rather than running down the line and crossing the ball it was so easy to defend against.

Our defence copped the blame and midfield who also failed to supply our forwards got off scott free. Taylor is a very good defender and was also carrying an injury did a good job. Players like HBA, Cabaye and Sissoko often went missing or gave away possession cheaply. Some people sing their praises as world beaters however for me they have a lot to prove this season.

As Shaun has said we need balance in the team and that starts with players who can tackle back, pass and retain possession especially at MC. I’d rather play 4-5-1 and grind out a result than play 4-3-3, and get thrashed as a result for the arrogance of thinking we can go to MC and attack however the formation should not be rigid as we need to be able to adapt to suit and that is where Pardew often falls short.

Should HBA start? I wouldn’t like to say as I wouldn’t be upset of he’s left on the bench.

  • 75 NUFCarter // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:21 AM

Valencia has changed his shirt no. From 7 to 25 which must mean only 1 thing – Ronaldo is returning and his numbers waiting for him or thats what MUFC fans seem to think. Few fans seem to realize how much debt (over 400 mil) Man U are in and still think they can buy all these players they’re ‘after’. Its all rumours made up to sell papers and just getting those glory supporters hopes up

  • 76 noir9 // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:22 AM

It’s far easier signing players when no other teams are interested, we seem to have our targets which we are struggling to “get over the line” but I’d rather we were after players that other clubs want & that Carr has scouted than someone who just happens to be available, quality not quantity.

  • 77 Slank // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:22 AM

Gosling gets a game because we have no other centre mid to play in that position.

  • 82 Markaccus // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:25 AM

    Kammmyyyyyyy! Tiote nooooooooo. Anita yesssssssss!

  • 83 nico // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:27 AM

4-4-2. We played 4-4-2 for a large part of the Braga game. Pards will have Gutti instead of Marvo though.

  • 84 jazzyp // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:27 AM

before debuchy it was simmo, When debuchy was signed and didn’t play we again turned to simmo and have not replaced him still.
God bless harps for his loyalty but he has now gone to new pastures-but has not been replaced.
Perchinio has been sold to wigan-i wish him the best as I thought he was at least one of our more consistent players last season and I can understand us selling him because this an area we are well stocked in.
But for me we still need some quality additions to come through the door as we are seriously lacking in other departments !!

  • 85 nico // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:30 AM

Me to, nothing like a good implosion. It’s going to go one of two ways for the mad Italian. He will either motivate them to over achieve, or by Xmas they will be that sick of him, they’ll be on strike. Hopefully the latter.

  • 86 SeanNufc87 // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:31 AM

We have nobody else to play there? Sissoko? Marv?

  • 87 Markaccus // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:31 AM

    You dont like sissoko then?

  • 88 nico // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:32 AM

    Players we desperately need.
At least one winger – Ince or Sinclair
At least one centre forward – Gomis
At least one attacking centre mid who will score – ???
I think Swansea have a player in Shelvey, never really was given enough chance at Liverpool, but I think he could become a very good player this year.

  • 89 Slank // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:32 AM

    Markaccus @ 69

Kammy would be great, a laugh a minute although Pardew generates quite a few groans!

However, I wouldn’t employ Paul Merson as I don’t think the club could afford the bar bill.

  • 90 Markaccus // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:35 AM

Merson would be cheaper than gazza on that score 😀

  • 91 nico // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:36 AM

    Sean and Markaccus

Sissoko is a similar player to Tiote. He won’t score many goals, he’s not clever enough in the box. I like Marvo, but against City I’m not sure he’ll get a kick. For me Gosling has played well on a number of occasions this pre-season. He is a type of Nolan player who will get in the box on the end of crosses. Given the opportunity and confidence he might do well. Vuckic is another player I’d like to see more of as he could play that role.

  • 92 JAMSHA // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:38 AM

debuchy will giv away many penaltys….+ his slightly better dan simo goin foward

  • 93 Markaccus // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:38 AM

In which case would sissoko not play instead of tiote, as i think he offers more?

  • 94 Markaccus // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:39 AM

Who does Dan Simo play for?

  • 95 jazzyp // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:39 AM

would you not consider Anita in that role either ??

  • 96 Ben3arfa // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:40 AM

Kinnear is a stupid old man with a dodgy heart and serious dementia.

He is way out of his depth trying to sign players in today’s transfer market.

  • 97 SeanNufc87 // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:41 AM

I agree on dan but you might be wrong on sissoko, 15 appearance in that position and 3 goals and 3 assists, pretty good return for someone still bedding in.

Wheres Pards’ head right now? Is he the PR tea lady or what? ‘I do hope nobody makes a BIG offer for one of our BIG stars’ and now ‘I hope Cabaye stays’ when there hasn’t even been an offer. Someone tell him to can it. Please.

Morning mate. No and v v tired thanks for asking.

  • 103 nico // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:45 AM

I would def consider playing Sissoko instead of Tiote.
I don’t rate Anita much. He never really offers much apart from 5-10 yard square passes. He is also weak and poor in the air. Maybe he would improve if he played more, I’m not sure though.

  • 104 Slank // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:46 AM

    Markaccus @ 90

Yep, can you imagine all the fines the club would have to pay with Gazza. !

  • 105 jazzyp // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:47 AM

HARIS Vuckic’s set for a loan spell away from Newcastle United – to get him up to speed for the second half of the season !!
obviously another player not ready to step up to the plate this season if they are prepared to loan yet another player out.

  • 106 Pokat // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:48 AM

  • 109 nico // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:48 AM

Sissoko started really well, scoring goals and getting assists. However the last 5 games he played there he was quite poor and offered little. He even seemed reluctant to go forward.
I as at the Braga game on Saturday and apart from us scoring from a corner, there was nothing really to get excited about.

  • 110 nico // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:50 AM

Harris on loan again, really? I thought he might burst onto the scene this season.
It seems we bring players in at 17-18 loan them out for 5 years and then let them go on a free.

  • 111 Markaccus // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:50 AM

Surely its a bad idead to loan him to a lower league club (as i assume thats where he’d go). He is made of candy floss and will die horribly if he gets a tough tackle!

  • 117 martoon // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:54 AM

Morning all – Off topic can I ask if any ST holders out there have actually recieved there ticket yet? I’ve started paying for mine but no actual ticket has arrived yet – this is my first one so I don’t know if this is the usual NUFC box office inefficiency or should I be contacting them?

  • 118 Pokat // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:54 AM

Vukic, Ferguson and Campbell will not make it at NUFC imo. The loans are for display purposes. Campbell is only being kept back until a striker comes in. Tavernier too. Dummett however, looks more promising.

  • 119 jimmysmith // Aug 12, 2013 at 8:56 AM

  • 123 jimmysmith // Aug 12, 2013 at 9:02 AM

Jee, I’d can the whole reserves and simply invest in youth development and send all the guys who graduate from the youth ranks out on loan at around 17 and only bring them back if they were legitimately ready to challenge for a first team spot.

  • 124 jazzyp // Aug 12, 2013 at 9:03 AM

Sacho has officially been in contact with Liverpool.
what a massive shame this would be guys to not even consider this player as a direct replacement for colo should he move on at the end of the season.
He is in his final year of his contract and would not possess a massive fea.
Ambition is everything and that is something we sadly lack.

  • 125 ballerfan2 // Aug 12, 2013 at 9:04 AM

I just hope that our players don’t read this blog and believe it is how the majority of supporters think. If they believe that no matter what they do, how well they play, that “fans” are not going to ever “support” them, then why should they give that extra 5% when all they ever get is abuse. Taylor is just the latest target, and you know, I can’t think of one Newcastle player who hasn’t come in for way over the top criticism at some time in the last few months. The country’s best fans? I despair. Frustration I can understand but never this mindless abuse of players we should hope to encourage to play at their best.

Then it seems we are investing profits back into infrastrure and strengthening the 1st team, contrary to what is believed by many. The problem, if there is one, is the pace of progress, along with perhaps quality of management and coaching. Although my personal gripe is more with Ashley’s shallow exploitation of the clubs good name, which I’ll forgive if he does actually forge ahead and get us consistently challenging the top 6 as we should.

Lads we can only F**k with the cocks we’ve got. TBH we have a really great squad. I can’t understand all the negativity about the team.

I can understand the negativity about the owner DOF and manager but we are the 12th man if we lose interest this club is only going to get worse.

Managers Players and Owners come and go, we remain. This could be a great season for us and it depends on me and you don’t underestimate that, it’s really important.

  • 135 martoon // Aug 12, 2013 at 9:29 AM

  • 136 NotEvenGeordie // Aug 12, 2013 at 9:30 AM

Just scanned through the comments, here’s a few points I picked up on:

Nico, you are an absolute tool. Fact.
People slating santon seem to forget that he marked Ronaldo out of the game when inter beat Madrid in the CL semi final on their way to claiming the trophy, now try telling me he’s useless?
Steven Taylor is an average cb, capable of the odd brilliant game, like everyone is, but far too many mistakes and not enough attributes to be considered anything better than average.

  • 137 BuckLuck // Aug 12, 2013 at 9:31 AM

For me personally it has come to that i hope we still got the players we’ve got now when we get a new manager. No matter who we bring in we will base the play on Pardews philosophy. That is a hopeless starting point.

I think we will finish bottom half, 11-15, if not worse if Pardew is given a full season.

The squad is good and with a couple of additions we should in reality finish as high as 6-8. No way will we do that under Pardew again. Other teams are progressing, we’re not.

  • 138 jazzyp // Aug 12, 2013 at 9:31 AM

Well said mate, Nice to see a fan with optimism !!

  • 139 NotEvenGeordie // Aug 12, 2013 at 9:37 AM

As for the city game, opening day, they’ve got a new manager, no form to go on, a lot of pressure on them, best time to play them imo, who says we can’t go there, work our socks off, take our chances and defend like dogs? At 9/1 we are definitely worth a tenner.

  • 140 Heslop Toon // Aug 12, 2013 at 9:37 AM

Your right no way pardew can get a team into the top 8.
Oh wait what about 2 seasons ago when we finished 5th. Some people have short memories.

  • 141 NotEvenGeordie // Aug 12, 2013 at 9:40 AM

And Remy? I’d put money on him being on the bench against city, I think pardew is playing games. He says his injury is preventing him from running, but we’ve seen him running on the training pitch, I reckon he’ll play, I hope so anyway.

  • 142 Jail for Ashley // Aug 12, 2013 at 9:43 AM

Pardew was firmly put back in his place for having the audacity to finish fifth and heighten our expectations after the appropriate humiliations were admonished we won’t be seeing anymore foolish high places for our double manager of the year.

  • 143 soundoid // Aug 12, 2013 at 9:43 AM

As a club we have problems and I’m not running away from that. It’s not as bad as people paint on this blog. We have a really good team! The club has many faults the main one at the moment is the fans.

  • 144 potski // Aug 12, 2013 at 9:44 AM

It’s not harsh to criticize Debuchy. It was not a “soft penalty” on Saturday, please don’t try to blame the officials. It was a clear foul, having a swipe at the ball and getting no where near it. After he had backed off 3-4 yards into the penalty area.

The penalty he conceded against QPR could have seen us relegated. We can’t afford to be giving teams headstarts like that.

  • 145 lesh // Aug 12, 2013 at 9:51 AM

Pokat….. Perch, Jonas, Simpson, Williamson, Tiote, Taylor, Shola, Elliott, Cabaye and now Debuchy is the target of those so called fans who are never happy unless they’ve got someone to bash and sicken.

That’s almost a whole PL starting line up they say are rubbish.

Any suggestions for a starting eleven of supposedly crap players we should get rid of?

Come on you player bashers, it shouldn’t take long if you get your highly pinned ju-ju dolls out and lined up, should it?

  • 146 Greebol1892 // Aug 12, 2013 at 10:05 AM

Oh dear…. can’t believe somie of the tosh in this article. Taylor better than MYM!!???!!! Simpson better than Debuchy!!!???!!! Comparing Williamson to MYM……..

FFS…… how many goals against us were Williamson and Simpson solely resonsible for? TOO MANY! Both try/tried their best but are Championship standard….. but still they are better than the amoeba brothers.

Sammy our 2nd choice LM????!!!! WTF!?!?!?!!
No.23 is our No.2 striker behind Cisse – we have to accept that until the lazy lump retires from the Toon and football.
Remy, Gouffran, Marveaux and Anita will always be bench warmers under Pardew.
If they are fit, Jonas is the 1st name on the team sheet, followed by Tiote – REGARDLESS OF FORM – so we just have to accept that while AP is manager.
If Cisse gets injured, the amoeba could make a name for himself as an up-and-coming 1st choice “striker”. Shamefully, no place for Campbell when we have a lump of shite as the manager’s favourite, knocking on the door to be our no1 striker.

To be optimistic, the best we can hope for is a 3-1 defeat vs Man C. HTL.
