Newcastle have been interested in French International center-back Mamadou Sakho, and have kept an eye in the PSG defender as he has tried to win a first team starting position at the French club.
Mamadou Sakho – wants to leave PSG
But with Brazilian International Thiago Silva staying at PSG, it may be that Mamadou will be struggling again to get a first team place in his club side, the season before the World Cup in Brazil next summer, and he would want to be in the French squad.
There a report in L’Equipe today that has the headline “Sakho wants to leave Paris!” and the 23 year-old says the following:
“I was waiting to talk with the coach and the President, Nasser al-Khelaïfi. Now that it’s done in my head, everything is clear. We will see in the near future which will be my decision.”
Mamadou’s contract ends next summer, so if he does seek a transfer than his transfer fee should be reduced, and it would remain to be seen if Newcastle decider they want to bring in another center-back.
It’s a toss-up between Steven Taylor or Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa who starts at Manchester City alongside Fabricio Coloccini, so Joe Kinnear and Alan Pardew may decode that the defense is OK for next season with three defenders having been acquired in January and Paul Dummett looking very good at left back.
And Paul can also play at right back too, and he already looks to be a very good attacking full-back, whose confidence has risen after his successful loan spell at St. Mirren last season.
Didier Deschamps did not give Mamadou a call-up for friendly match between France and Belgium on Wednesday, and L’Equipe are reporting they think the French International will soon put in transfer request.
AC Milan and Liverpool are mentioned as possible suitors, but Newcastle are not mentioned.
What do you think?

Comment #2wonder if we are being used.Marseille will be telling him to stall as long as he can, keep saying he wants Toon move, blame agents and all the way to the end of the window. In Jan they will offer 2/3 million hence saving them 5/6 million which they will offer him a good wage.If Gomis wants to come he would of told his agents to accept what they were offered or he could of threatened to sign a new contract at his current club and they got nothing.Remy ruled out of opener according to FTB Pro, calf strain.

Comment #9What is it with MA and France you would think it was the only country in the world we can get signings from. Don’t get me wrong there’s some great players come out of France. I suppose he doesn’t want to pay a penny over the odds. Trouble is it usually takes a couple of seasons for them to adapt to the premier league.

STaylor is heading for Shola territory by the sounds of it.
Fat, slow, short and not good enough seem to be the buzz words from ‘fans’ on here.

Comment #16Thump – Jonas out injured now so attention has turn to Saylor 😀
On Sakho, he’s a very good player but he’s never gonna leave PSG to come here to warm our bench as Pardew will not drop Saylor or Colo for the lad so he’ll be in the same position as he’s in now, anyway we need a left winger and striker in before we look at anywhere else on the field

Sakho is better passer of the two.
and he puts in more tackles and make more interceptions.
Otherwise they are rather similar in terms of stats.

Sakho vs Taylor
You cannot compare a central defender who has played in the premiership for quite a few years and one who has never played in this country let alone the Premiership.

I totally disagree – we need two defenders, a tall dominant centre half and a full back who can defend.
Our ‘best’ defence of Debuchy – STalor/Mbiwa – Colo – Santon is imo one of the weakest in the Prem.
Two full backs who can’t defend and first choice central defenders who, Mbiwa as a possible exception, have no pace and none of then STaylor included have a real physical presence.

Comment #27How many would take Hernandez plus £10m for Cabaye and buy Ince or Sinclair with the cash or Hernandez and Nani for Cabaye? Would we really need to replace Cabaye when we have Sissoko, Marveaux, Vuckic and maybe Gosling if he stays to play in there, just change the system slightly which may help as the one we play at the minute seems to be choking the teams balance – Cabaye goes and striker and winger in for nil spend?

Comment #29http://thespectatorsview.com/2013/08/11/kinnear-in-belgium-to-watch-liege-youngster/?
Joe Kinnear has this morning been pictured by @Matt_Skeen1 at Newcastle train station on his way to London to get the Eurostar to northern Europe.
According to the Newcastle season ticket holder’s Twitter profile, he claimed he was ‘after Sinclair, Ince and a young Belgian striker’.
While Ince and Sinclair have been heavily linked with the Toon by the media over the past week, the supposed Belgian target is new. And it’s presumed to be Standard Liege’s young starlet, Michy Batshuayi.

Comment #31Whilst a feeble attack (non existent)puts pressure on the midfield and defence and therefore makes it slightly more difficult to judge exactly where better players are needed there can be no doubt that if our one and only signing is Remy -we will still have difficulties up front. A powerful front player is needed in addition along with someone who can play on the wing. AND a central defender -tall/commanding. Anyone who cannot see this really needs to change their game -perhaps to netball or ladies rugby.

Comment #32Saylor does the old chest thumping and chorus leading bit to a tee but he gets turned so easily its embarrassing. just look at Southampton’s 2 goals to SJP as yet another example.
Moyes has now won more in one game than we have in 60 years!!

It doesn’t matter that he cares about the club, what matters is can he play at the top level. Putting the injuries aside, then the answer has to be no.
No top club have ever been seriously interested in him, and no England manager has ever let him near the team. Given that we are not exactly well stocked with world class CBs at the minute, what does that tell you? The guy was the England U21 captain if I remember correctly, but he has never gone on to prove he can play consistently since then.
Not dreadful, despite all the mistakes he makes, but only good enough as a regular starter in a midtable team.
If you want more then you want something like:
Santon – Sakho – Collo – Mbiwa
With Saylor on the bench. Then when Colli finally gets his move back to San Lorenzo, Sakho and Mbiwa are the CB pairing.

You have to otherwise you would only be able to buy players from Premier League.
If compare Mbiwas L1 and his PL stats there isn’t huge difference.
So let’s compare Taylor and Mbiwa then.
Taylor is more accurate passer , blocks more shots and win more aerial duels ( Sakho as good in this parts though)
Mbiwa puts in double amount of tackles and makes double amount of interceptions. (Similar to Sakho) He’s loses the ball more often and as well making more dribbles.
Sakho looks to have the best parts from Taylor and Mbiwa.

Comment #38Lol, of course it’s not true. As if he’s going to tell some random bloke at a train station that he wants of Shola?
The guy is putting 2+2 and getting 10! If he was really going to Belgium/Holland he would have flown from Newcastle to Amsterdam. You can’t get a train from Newcastle through the Channel Tunnel, you would have to change trains (and get a tube?) in London. More likely he was going back to his home down south.
