Another Reason Magpies Must Sign Top Striker Soon

9:29 am, Thursday, August 15th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 35 Comments

Bad news today that new singing Loic Remy could be a month away from playing for Newcastle united, and that’s the l;ast thing we want to hear this morning.

loic remy

Hello – I am Loic Remy

When Remy was first interviewed last week after signing he admitted to a calf problem, after undergoing a medical on Tyneside, and apparently Newcastle had not known about that slight in jury.

But that slight injury is not looking so slight any more and manager Alan Pardew spilled the beans today:.

“Remy is still on the road to recovery.” “Man City will come too soon, and so might West Ham and Fulham. “It’s becoming increasingly likely he will be unavailable – he’s not kicked a ball yet, and only been running.”

“It’s very important that we make sure he’s right,” “It was a good work out for us. A lot of players played 45 minutes.” “I think we needed a game more than a training session, and one or two were ready for that, people like Obertan and Gosling.”

“It was a good game played in good spirit. We’re getting the players right.”

It is important not to rush Remy into playing as that could rebound and the first thing is to get that calf injury cleared up.

So maybe Remy will make his first appearance for Newcastle at Aston Villa on September 14th – and that’s even more reason why Joe Kinnear has to bring in another striker as soon as possible.

Over to you Joe.

Just got back from 2 weeks in a remote part of brittany. Quickly, who have we signed so far?

  • 2 Rainrix // Aug 15, 2013 at 9:32 AM

Hopefully this is just pardews rubbish mind games cropping up a la ben arfa last year against spurs. We can hope :)

  • 3 Ben3arfa // Aug 15, 2013 at 9:34 AM

Kinnear deserves to be out – for good

  • 4 nico // Aug 15, 2013 at 9:34 AM

Surely he’s not another Ireland. He made about 2 appearances in his loan spell.

  • 5 bobby mango // Aug 15, 2013 at 9:34 AM

    So typical of Newcastle.
Starting the season with the same lacklustre team we finished with, minus the Perch.
Absolutely demoralising supporting NUFC… Would be surprised if we lost by anything less than 3 goals to City.

    bobby mango

And apparently soon to be without Cabaye.

  • 7 Tommyy // Aug 15, 2013 at 9:43 AM

What a load of rubbish. Why is it at Newcastle that everyone who is actually capable of playing football is always injured. This summer has been an absolute shamble, get rid of Kinnear he’s done nothing! Never before have I felt so disappointed to be a Newcastle fan.

  • 8 microbar // Aug 15, 2013 at 9:44 AM

So how the fruck did he pass his medical ???.

  • 9 Spoof // Aug 15, 2013 at 9:44 AM

Out for a month, it could be mind games, don’t forget that Ben Arfa was ruled out for the season last season but he came back to play, I wouldn’t be surprised if he is on the bench for the City game.

  • 10 Tommyy // Aug 15, 2013 at 9:45 AM

The hierarchy have ripped the excitement and optimism out of football for me, by now I’m buzzing for the start of the season normally. This year I’m dreading it. Thank you Ashley, thank you.

  • 11 nut meg // Aug 15, 2013 at 9:45 AM

    Edd Case @ 7
    Charlie @10
Both 100% correct in IMHO. Doesn’t matter how many CFs we play with we MUST have creative players to give the forwards chances. I have put this guy up a few times so take a look, he creates chances for fun.In the last 3 seasons + 1 game this season 1/ played 102 2/ goals 28 3/ assists 45 He plays LW-RW-AMF & he creats from all positions. I JUST HOPE WE HAVE AT LEAST LOOKED AT HIM !!

Nico – good point. Thanks for cheering me up even more! ;)

Tbf I’m not so worried about losing Cabaye. He’s overrated imo, if he is really one of the best in the world it shows how bad Pardew is as a manager… Barely avoids relegation with one of the best midfielders in the world!?

The problem with losing him though is we won’t spend he money in this window. If I could swap him for Sinclair/Ince, Gomis and Toby A then I would. Won’t happen like that though.

  • 13 Edd Case // Aug 15, 2013 at 9:46 AM

Don’t get me wrong, I like the look of Gomis and he could definitely do a job, but honestly, look at our team, where’s the ammunition coming from?

Jonas offers so little these day, particularly going forward.
HBA cuts inside, so rarely puts in a cross.
Debuchy flatters to deceive in my opinion and although gets forward a lot, doesn’t really create a great deal.
Santon is more or less the same as HBA, cuts inside a great deal.

Our ‘best’ 11 is unbalanced and uncreative and always likely to concede because other teams aren’t scared of us and attack us.

We carry no ‘counter-attacking’ threat and we’re not a good enough ‘passing’ team to play like Swansea either.

We’re a very ordinary team and I just can’t see us doing well with what we have.

We desperately, desperately need more pacey, attacking quality on the wings.
Ince for me is easily the best option, and that lad at Wigan, McCarthy is it? Him too, plus Hughes from Derby who’s already much better than Vuckic.

If MA has any ambition at all for us, he’ll get us these players in.

Oh, and I’d happily let Cabaye go for £20M, Anita more than capable of playing in CM and a better passer than Cabaye in my opinion.

    Sell Cab’s, buy 1 x top striker, 2 x top attacking mids.

  • 14 Tommyy // Aug 15, 2013 at 9:47 AM

If he’s running why can’t he kick a ball? What the hell is wrong with that!

  • 15 jordijohnty // Aug 15, 2013 at 9:47 AM

Doing a bit of detective work, it seems the only “signing” we have made is remy on loan, who would rather play in the prem, and may have off-field problems. Surely I have missed something. What happened to all the rumours I saw at the start of the month?

  • 16 Spoof // Aug 15, 2013 at 9:48 AM

    microbar

you only fail a medical if the insurance company refuse to insure the player due to a possible career ending problem, a minor 3/4 week injury would not be cause for a failed medical.

  • 17 nut meg // Aug 15, 2013 at 9:48 AM

    Nico
James McCarthy for Cabs replacement, why,he does’n t score goals or create chances ?

  • 18 nufc 11 // Aug 15, 2013 at 9:50 AM

Surely AP and JFK know that a certain Demba Ba is availible love to see him back with alderweld and sinclair or ince

  • 19 nico // Aug 15, 2013 at 9:53 AM

    nut meg

Will Hughes would be better to be fair.

  • 20 gazzaforever // Aug 15, 2013 at 9:53 AM

That’s the problem with Remy, he s always injured, small injuries, but all the time,

I’m in Western Sydney, Blacktown but work in Alexandria. What about you?

    JFA
The juice is great you should try some :0) it may not be 20m in January but I think funds will be available if needed.

What about making a move for Shane Long?

  • 22 JaxtheMag // Aug 15, 2013 at 9:59 AM

    jordyjonty did you see jk

  • 23 Spartak Miserable // Aug 15, 2013 at 10:00 AM

Panto season is in full flow yet again. As a supporter paying hundreds for a season ticket, like most of you I’m assuming, I would really appreciate if for just ONE year, we were not the laughing stock of the league.

  • 24 south coast toon // Aug 15, 2013 at 10:19 AM

this is becoming a joke we sign 5 players quick as in january, we have had from then to know to have had everything in place and players OVER THE LINE. we are going to be in for a rough ride again this season, creative players and goalscorers from the wings and providers is what we need most not that we dont need a striker, im over the moon wiyh remy but a 2 mil investment after just escaping relagation is a joke………..i think we will finish higher than last season but we arnt top ten at the moment and the gap will be gaping if we dont invest in creativety, sinclair, ince bloody anyone. i personally just want us to play football and try 100 per cent win loose or draw is fine as long as we are tring to win
why did we go from one of the best defences in the prem a couple of years ago to last seasons joke and we had same players there,

  • 25 yorkymag // Aug 15, 2013 at 10:23 AM

    This is simply mad
By the time loic is fit he is likely be involved in a rape trial
For goodness sake even me the eternal optimist is getting down down down
I need something to cheer me up

  • 26 robbeer // Aug 15, 2013 at 10:34 AM

i jokingly told a friend Remy wouldnt play for us till he appeared at whichever police station he has to go to find out if hes being charged. if he doesnt play these games am certain this is whats happening . Maybe weve signed him on this basis and if he gets charged maybe he goes back to london? Conspiracy? when does he appear at the police station anyhow?

  • 27 yorkymag // Aug 15, 2013 at 10:36 AM

Maybe that is why he does not seem to have a squad number

  • 28 JP...from The Rock // Aug 15, 2013 at 11:05 AM

WTF is Joe Kinnear doing!!??? Seriously I wonder what he’s actually doing right now to solve our lack of signings.

We are heading for another frustrating season. How much more false dawns can we / should we take.

If we don’t sign a striker or creative players we should make some sort of demonstration to vent our anger at the way the board handles the club without any ambition.

They are wasting everyones time and don’t give a fcuk! That is the impression I get with Ashley and his sick way of thinking.

  • 29 Bedsmag77 // Aug 15, 2013 at 11:07 AM

IMO Remy injury prob isn’t as bad as quoted. I reckon might see him against Citehhhh!!! Prob be wrong, and I’ll get slated but its happened before. Bit of a smokescreen ????

  • 30 dcdick // Aug 15, 2013 at 11:22 AM

Great move…………………sign an injured player on loan for a year who also has a rape case hanging over him.

What next from the two clowns AKA Pardew & Kinnear ??

  • 31 stan anderson // Aug 15, 2013 at 11:27 AM

How many times do we sign players that get injured once we sign them or are injured when we sign them, totally unbelievable, you could not make it up as someone already said.To come out and say they were not aware of the injury tops it all.haha

  • 32 stan anderson // Aug 15, 2013 at 11:30 AM

We have to be the biggest joke in football and we still pack the stadium.I wish the penny would drop.

  • 33 south coast toon // Aug 15, 2013 at 11:35 AM

just been down the beach and was told we could sign punch and judy for the winter on a free until may
surely this is possably too good an offer for ashley to turn down
meanwhile i hear rumours from a source that the stadium will be renamed faulty towers park and a new tv programe will be screend with characters such as manwell pardew and apparently there will be alot of irate custumers….lol thats all we can do for now, there coming to take me away

  • 34 vipgreek // Aug 15, 2013 at 12:27 PM

May i ask what happened to the 30 million Newcastle received from the FA this year, i can see all the other teams in the league have invested heavily in signings and we get Remy on loan and sold perch so really have only spent 1.5 mil, Now il be honest i wont myself blame Pardew for our demise especially when we will most likely be on the bottom half of the table mid year , And will not be happy seeing Ashley try and save us mid year and get in 2-3 quick transfers it will be to little to late, i hope Ashley pockets the 30 mil, this year, seels Cabaye , Ben Arfa and who ever else gets his money back then plain and simple F’s OFF from Newcastle !
