What a way to start the season – as Newcastle United have left Yohan Cabaye out of the side for tonight’s game at Manchester City, and that follows a bid from Arsenal of 12M that was immediately rejected but maybe there’s more going on behind the scenes than we realized.
As expected Yanga-Mbiwa has come in for the injured Davide Santon at left-back, but the terrible news for Newcastle fans is that Yohan Cabaye has been withdrawn from the squad – which usually happens when a player is near the Newcastle exit door.
Yohan is not on the bench, but the two Ameobi brothers are – and it seems that Yoan Gouffran gets the start in place of Cabaye – but we expect Cheick Tiote and Moussa Sissoko to be in central midfield tonight – although Jonas can play there too.
It also looks like Newcastle will play in a 4-2-3-1 formation tonight with Papiss Cisse the lone striker up front, and there’s even more reason for Newcastle to get a good result tonight, since it seems Yohan Cabaye could soon be on his bike.
But of course we suppose Yohan could have picked up an injury and just cannot play tonight…..and there again maybe PSG have finally come in with a massive bid?
And in our poll with almost 1800 having voted today – 64% think we’ll lose and only 17% – one in six – think we can win this game.
