Cabaye Left Out Of Newcastle Team After Arsenal Bid

manchester-city-crestnufc

What a way to start the season – as Newcastle United have left Yohan Cabaye out of the side for tonight’s game at Manchester City, and that follows a bid from Arsenal of 12M that was immediately rejected but maybe there’s more going on behind the scenes than we realized.

As expected Yanga-Mbiwa has come in for the injured Davide Santon at left-back, but the terrible news for Newcastle fans is that Yohan Cabaye has been withdrawn from the squad – which usually happens when a player is near the Newcastle exit door.

Yohan is not on the bench, but the two Ameobi brothers are – and it seems that Yoan Gouffran gets the start in place of Cabaye – but we expect Cheick Tiote and Moussa Sissoko to be in central midfield tonight – although Jonas can play there too.

It also looks like Newcastle will play in a 4-2-3-1 formation tonight with Papiss Cisse the lone striker up front, and there’s even more reason for Newcastle to get a good result tonight, since it seems Yohan Cabaye could soon be on his bike.

But of course we suppose Yohan  could have picked up an injury and just cannot play tonight…..and there again maybe PSG have finally come in with a massive bid?

And in our poll with almost 1800 having voted today – 64% think we’ll lose and only 17% – one in six – think we can win this game.

What do you think?

Teams:

Manchester City (4-4-2): Joe Hart; Pablo Zabaleta, Vincent Kompany (c), Joleon Lescott, Gael Clichy; Jesus Navas, Fernandinho, Yaya Toure, David Silva; Edin Dzeko, Sergio Aguero
Substitutes: Costel Pantilimon, Aleksandar Kolarov, Javi Garcia, Jack Rodwell, James Milner, Samir Nasri, Alvaro Negredo

Newcastle United (4-2-3-1): Tim Krul; Mathieu Debuchy, Steven Taylor, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa; Cheick Tiote, Jonas Gutierrez; Hatem Ben Arfa, Moussa Sissoko, Yoan Gouffran; Papiss Cisse
Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Paul Dummett, Vurnon Anita, Sylvain Marveaux, Gabriel Obertan, Sammy Ameobi, Shola Ameobi

We rejected the bid, so did he refuse to play today? Wouldn’t surprise me at all to be honest.

If cabaye pulled out due to a ten mill bid that’s unprofessional, if Pards pulled him out why, will Anita ever get a chance? Calling Jonas man of the match

So no doubt Cabs will be off, Arsenal forcing our hand like we do to so many players.

That’s him gone. Give us 12 days to replace him.
    Will we bother though?

Well that’s a great bargaining technique – start of saying “we want three times what you’re offering”, then leave the player out of the squad.

Protecting the asset . Bye bye Yohan . This pre-season has been like a FCUKING nightmare :

    .No players in
    .Kinnear director of football.
    .Cabaye on his way out

And that team is just the icing on the cake, total garbage . Not watching tonight like 🙁

I don’t care, but Marveaux should be starting ahead of players like Gutierrez and Gouffran. Anita should be playing instead of Tiote. We have no attacking midfielder in the team, so were not going to score.

So basically arsenal have decided our lineup. Bloody hell next week we will get a bid for every one of our plays and we will fail to field a team.

I never said Cabaye wouldn’t go. I’ve said before that the only way that we can sign players like Cabaye at the moment is if they see us as a stepping stone to an established CL team. You complaining about us not replacing Carroll in the same transfer window (with no time to go) is about as relevant as NUFC’s bank manager complaining that they didn’t sell Cabaye in January to make up for those signings.

I’ve made my views quite clear on what I expect from the club this transfer window and this season. Your overreaction to be is just unnecessary.

Jonas playing central instead of Anita? I’m not a fan of Anita but surely he must play now Cabaye’s not there.
I think Arsenal will up offer to 15 million and he’ll be gone.
I hate supporting Newcastle, Cabaye could have still played, but as I’ve said before, French are like that.

    “to me” I meant.

As for Cabaye, it still doesn’t mean he’s off. Obviously he’s unsettled and Pardew’s job is to pick the best team for the job. Arsenal still have to bid enough for him. It’s happened before with other clubs, sometimes they go and sometimes they stay.

We need to get Willian and Eriksen in with the Cabaye money and sign Alderweireld and Gomis. We need to sack Pardew and find a manager that’ll play ANITA and MARVEAUX more.
