News today that despite reports to the contrary, Newcastle United midfielder and play-maker Yohan Cabaye is not close to joining French club Paris Saint-Germain.
Yohan Cabaye – not close to leaving Newcastle
It seems obvious the 22 times capped Frenchman wants to leave Newcastle for better things, and because of that most Newcastle fans are OK if he leaves, as long as Newcastle get a big fee for him and spend that cash on bringing new players to Tyneside in the next 11 days.
PSG manager Laurent Blanc has been a pain in the behind this summer, by continually mentioning Cabaye, and that he wants him at PSG, and that Yohan should join a big club.
There are reports that a source close to the player (Yohan Cabaye himself?) has said that the player is not about to a move to the French club, who seem willing to spend ridiculous amounts of money to improve their team over the last couple of years.
And if Cabaye is to leave Newcastle, we have to believe that owner Mike Ashley will hold out for big bucks for the Frenchman – who we signed for just €5M (£4.3M) two years ago, when we met the release clause in his Lille contract.
Newcastle are said to be wanting £20M for Cabaye, but we are hoping that figure is closer to £25M, and if Arsenal or PSG are not willing to pay out that amount, then Yohan will find himself at Newcastle on September 3rd, whether he likes it or not.
And we wonder what will happen on Saturday if Yohan is still at Newcastle, and whether he will be in the side for the very important home game against a good-looking West Ham United side?
We’ll just have to wait and see what happens, but if the 27 year-old does finally make a move – Newcastle must replace him quickly.
What do you think?

Comment #6So the top brass may not even have watched a game when they were all over in the south of France. They apparently met Ashley at his holiday hideaway. JFK said it was a ‘positive meeting’.

Comment #10Pardew wanted more british players…perhaps to add more fight and pl experience into the squad…But we look for bargains in france.
I think everyone at newcastle has a different mission and vision for the club, wants a differnt players and a different type of football
Top 10 crap is made up.

Comment #11I seriously doubt he is going to be sold. We want too much for him and nobody is going to pay that.

Comment #12Nolan, Barton, smith, Guthrie, duff, Owen, harper, Taylor, raylor.
All British players we’ve let go over the last few years.
All were in the team that got relegated.
There’s no guarantee that British players are better than or have more spirit than foreign players.
A good manager will always get the best out of his team.
That’s 1 game down and 9 to go for pardew!

Comment #17geordiemark… I’d guarantee it was ashley. Pardew was visibly angry in his pre-match interview so it obviously wasn’t his decision. Im sure cabaye is professional enough to play even if his head been turned. Ashley just protecting his investment again.

Comment #18We just need a true leader, ala Vidic, Kompany, Petrov, Lampard, Gerrard, Nolan etc. They don’t have to be British, just have the right qualities.

Comment #19geordiemark / Rainrix … We will never know but at the age of 27 a good offer needs to be snapped up. However the club needs to put a deadline in place, i.e. no sale after 23rd so that we could buy a replacement before the transfer deadline.

I dont think we will sign anyone really think ashley is looking for as much as he can get for cabaye so it fills his back pocket again at the clubs expense the man has no morals at all to the club he just simple doesnt give a shit, if ashley has any sence then he should really stay away from st james park because its a powder keg its ready for lift off

Comment #23Liverpool’s handling of Suarez is an excellent example of how Newcastle should handle Cabaye. We do not have to sell Cabaye unless we achieve our market price for him. If he refuses to play – dock his wages and let him train and play in the reserves. For once let us show the world we are a proud club and it is the Badge Of Honour to play for Newcastle and one player and his agents do not call the shots !

Comment #25Despite all the love-bombs from Blanc at PSG, I don’t reckon Cab will fetch 25million – or even 20 and will still be here for the season looking abashed. So to make a go of it, he better knuckle down pronto or there’ll be no World Cup and no glory move afterwards unless he pulls his finger out. – And to think he was depressed LAST season!
