Bad news again today that Yohan Cabaye is not included in the squad for today’s vital home game against West Ham – are we still paying this player?
But Alan Pardew makes four changes to the side that was torn apart at the Etihad Stadium on Monday night, and Davide Santon, Vurnon Anita, Sylvain Marveaux and Shola Ameobi all start this game.
Newcastle will play in an attacking 4-4-2 formation with Shola Ameobi and Papiss Cisse up front, and Ben Arfa and Sylvain Marveaux on the flanks, and Vurnon Anita has come in for the injured Cheick Tiote who has a groin strain, and he will partner Sissoko in central midfield.
For West Ham Kevin Nolan – the former Newcastle United captain – is the Hammer’s skipper and probably also their danger man, and former Newcastle striker target Modibo Maiga starts for West Ham up front.
Gael Bigirimana makes the bench today, as does Haris Vuckic.
We are not happy that Yohan Cabaye has again let the side down before a ball has been kicked – and we’ll leave it at the for the moment.
Newcastle need to win this game today – and out fans at the game need to support the players big time, and hopefully to victory.
Howay The Lads!!

I’d like santon as the right winger and hba on the left…santon did well the one game he moved advanced, got a goal against Wigan.
That’s more left field though so i can’t complain we don’t do that.

Comment #83Don’t know why people are going on about the bench
Apart fro Gosling and Sammy the rest of them can change a game Vuckic would be a perfect no 10 in a 5 man midfield and Gouffran is a good game changer to bring on might suit him better to come on later in games and would much rather Bigi gets a go than Tiote or Jonas because they are shite
Time to give youth a chance as the seniors have let us down for so long

Yeh Anita just needs to move the ball on a bit quicker and not get caught like that as he doesn’t have the strength or body positioning of HBA to shrug them off.
Hopefully is just us being rusty in our first game and he gets that zip about a bit better today.

The mere idea of Allardyce out maneuvering someone should be up there with bigfoot being real and nessie being a dinosaur
That being said, it is not hard for anyone to out maneover someone with barely an iota of management skills i.e. Pardew. I bet even a rock can out maneuver the man.

I think it’s not people dot want the kids to have a go just more that they’d be more comfortable having a few senior proven players on the bench too.

Comment #91I will say this now, expect some long balls today, from the looks of it we are going to be trying to get the ball out wide and get some crosses in but if that doesn’t happen we will try to play of Shola

Comment #93I think this is a very good starting 11 given the circumstances. Time for Sissoko and Anita to stamp their place in the team. My worry is Anita coming up against Diame.

In that Wigan game, Santon was used more as a right wing back, rather than a right winger, but it would be a left field move, something that Pardew is not known for.
We need more players, with the type of players we have, we simply have not got enough players of sufficient quality who can link the midfield and attack, that’s the long and short of it.

Comment #95I know I said earlier that I was thankful that we would be starting with 11 men, now that Tiote and Jonas are out of the picture for this game…
I admit it was a tad bit premature… seems like only 10 men and a bumbling idi0t are starting today.

Comment #97Sparky – You couldn’t be more wrong. The lack of a partner for Cisse has been the root cause of a) his inability to get into the game for months and b) the team’s inability to hold a higher line, and exert more sustained pressure in the final third.

Comment #101Anita may not be the biggest, most physical guy, but give him the ball and he will spread it around the field, time for our technically able players to get on the field and be allowed to show what they can do. Flair over strength any day of the week for me.

So would I!! But it looks like we probably wont spend the money to have game changing seniors
And the seniors who are missing would do nothing to change a game in a positive manner imagine an opposition team seeing Taylor, Jonas or Tiote coming off the bench?!?They would be like YEEEESSSS!!Because they are all shite and would only be good if we were parking the bus and holding onto a 1 goal lead which under Pardew would be most likely
Also how good would it be if we suddenly decided to press and attack like the Man Utd away game against West Ham ? Because West Ham are a poor poor side if you press them they cant hold onto the ball properly

He plays. Simple as.
Football has lost it’s soul.
Good to have a chance to see what Anita and marv can do – they need to play a quick passing game. The HBA, marv, Anita triangles look tasty when they played briefly last season.
On shola. He needs to play as Cisse need a striker to play off until remy is fit

Comment #118boater@96…couldn’t disagree more m8…cisse thrives off good crosses and being put in behind the defensive line like cabs used to do a couple of years ago…he’s definately not IMO someone who feeds off a lanky streak of p!ss.
Cisse has scored some wonderful long range goals but he’s a 10 yard finisher and that doesn’t often happen off a flick on following a long distance clearance up to Shola
Cisse needs service from wide and from a No 10 playing short passes in between centre halfs
