Moussa Sissoko can play as a box-to-box midfielder, so that if Yohan Cabaye again refuses to play for Newcastle this afternoon (that will not be good), then Moussa will get a chance to show what he can do in that position.
Moussa Sissoko – could get box-to-box role today if Cabaye is absent
That’s player power to the extreme and cannot be good for the game.
But it’s hardly been a good start to the season for Newsletter when arguably our best player seems to want to leave the club and will not even play for Newcastle – who are paying him good wages on Tyneside.
And Alan Pardew commented on that in his press conference for the game, when the Londoner said he aged two years last week – with everything that was going on at the club, and if there’s still some turmoil caused by the Yoan Cabaye affair – it could cost us points today against West Ham.
Hopefully, at some point we will get to know exactly what has been going on with Yohan Cabaye and what really happened that he didn’t make the squad last Monday night.
This is what Moussa had to say in the Evening Chronicle today:
“Maybe the manager will say one of us won’t play.” “We have a big group here and some big players, so we need to work hard.” “Others may also come in like Loic Remy.”
“But there’s still so much to play for.” “We can aim for top 10 but maybe we can finish higher than that if we continue to work hard.” “My style of play has been to win the ball.” “It is much more physical in the Premier League.”
“I like the English league because we play box-to-box which is better for my quality. I run fast and progress quickly.” “The manager likes my profile because I can play box to box.”
“If it is possible I will have a good season and maybe get called up for France.” “Here this is a hard league – in France sometimes the teams keep the ball for long periods.” “Here everyone wants the ball back.”
“I hope for more goals. I want to score eight to 10 goals this year.” “The important thing is that we play well as a team. If I score it’s better for me, but the team is the most important.”
Today at 2:00 pm will be an important time for Newcastle fans, because that’s about the time the team will be announced, and we’ve got to admit if Cabaye is not in the squad for the second game running, we are not going to be happy, and that’s an understatement – a big one.
We hope he plays today.
But fans must also keep right behind the players on the pitch today, and it also helps to support the manager right now, even if you don’t rate Alan Pardew – he’s doing his best in what is a very difficult situation for the manager.
