We may be setting the bar really low at the moment, but we were pleased Newcastle didn’t end up on the losing side today, although Gouffran missed an absolute sitter with one minute to go in added time, but that would have given Newcastle a lucky win today – but we would have taken it. 😀
Yohan Cabaye – manager wants this player’s future sorted
It was not a good performance from the lads today and we had absolutely no cutting edge up front – none – but the defense was solid enough and Moussa Sissoko and Vurnon Anita had good game in the middle fo the park today, and that was a positive coming out of the game, especially for Anita who is a very good technical player, and can still become an important player on Tyneside.
Alan Pardew seemed happy enough at the outcome – but we don’t blame the manager for saying the future of Yohan Cabaye needs to be sorted out – and quickly too.
This is what Alan told Sky Sports after the game:
“The Cabaye situation needs to resolve itself one way or the other, because if we lose him we need to replace him.” “We had to dig in after Manchester City and really show our resilience which we did today.”
“Defensively we did not put in a bad performance, offensively we know we have to improve, but we had some key players missing today and hopefully when we play Fulham one or two will be back.”
It’s a very delicate time for Newcastle at the moment, and the team had not played well in the first two games, but it was important to suffer another defeat today – and that was really the food news.
But now Joe Kinnear and Mike Ashley need to get to work and deal with the Cabaye situation and if he goes get another equivalent player in.
And we need at least one more striker – and we don;t know what Newcastle are not going back in for Bafe Gomis, who will become a free agent next summer – so surely Newcastle can get a decent deal done now and bring Bafe Gomis to Newcastle.
Newcastle fans deserve some action this week – after what has been an embarrassing and inept display by the club this summer in the transfer market.
And that’s the truth.
And we know some Newcastle fans don’t rate manager Alan Pardew – but let’s give the man a chance in the next few vital games – for the good of the club – since he’s had a lot to deal with last week – given the apparent negative attitude of Yohan Cabaye – one of our best players.
We need to keep behind the lads in this crucial early period of the season, so we can at least get off to a decent start to the season – and then take it from there.
