There are reports in France that French Champions PSG are readying a £17M (€20M) offer for Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye, who missed the second game of the season for Newcastle today – and we assume Newcastle will dock his wages for missing the first two games of the season – or fine him – or both.
Yohan Cabaye – missing again today
The report is that PSG manager Laurent Blanc attended a PSG board meeting last week, and tried to persuade the club to put in a big enough bid to tempt Newcastle United to part with their star French International play-maker.
This is in conflict with reports yesterday that PSG had pulled out of the race with Arsenal to sign Cabaye, and that their summer transfer business was complete.
Arsenal will hardly be willing to raise their £12M bid by much, and Mike Ashley will hold out for a full £20M – and we think that’s exactly what the Newcastle owner should do.
And if no club comes in with that offer – then Yohan stays with Newcastle – whether he likes that or not – and we’d like to see Newcastle get a little bit tougher with this player.
It’s hard to know if this latest news has any truth to it – but the Yohan Cabaye affair, and his apparent bizarre and selfish refusal to play for Newcastle has only had a detrimental effect on Newcastle’s start to this Premier League season.
Newcastle need to tell the fans exactly what’s going on with Yohan Cabaye, and why he hasn’t been playing for the team.
Cabaye has progressed from a decent player to be a world-class French International since he joined Newcastle two years ago – and maybe he should remember that, and pay the club some respect by playing for the team that pays him big money to play.
