With not one shot on target the entire game I would have thought a highlight section was impossible. Can we please get some friggin forwards and stop relying on Shola.

Was actually impressed with Sammy’s energy when he was subbed. Of course he was attacked anyways for the fact he replaced marveaux but he didn’t have a great game anyways.

Sholas contribution, while still insufficient was light years ahead of his usual epl appearances. At least we were able to get into the area on the ground rather than hoofball for once.

As you can see I’ve set the bar on the ground to come up with those positives 🙂

I just listened to the 5 live podcast.

Alan Hansen is a twat, said Newcastle were awful and should have lost.

He obviously did not watch the game or even look at the stats.

We were not fantastic or anything but we were better than a shite West Ham whose only 2 strategies were long balls into the box or get it to Jarvis to beat Debuchy with pace.

I said this earlier, we lacked cutting edge but 14 shots on goal and 55% possession is not bad. I think Gouffy should have had a pen as well.

This was an improvement however small.

Hansen was right, we were awful. I watched the game and think we should have lost too.

West Ham had chances every time it went into the box, scrambles, Reid just missing a touch on it in first half, nolans header etc If they had finished any of their chances we would have rightfully lost.

As for the stats, they mean nothing when taken out of context. How many of our shots were from 25-30 yards and went way way over or wide?? These are not chances, these were not created, they came about because we had no idea what to do when we got within 35 yards of their goal, no plan, strategy or movement and so whoever had the ball thought sod it and smashed it.

It doesnt matter which player if any come in, it doesnt matter if everyone is fit, as long as pardew is the manager we are in trouble as the team have no clue about pass and move, how to create space etc. to get a team of talented players to play this bad takes serious ability.

How can he seriously keep shola on all match? and firstly play Marveaux on the wing when we all know he doesnt play well there, he should be behind the CF. And then take him off for Sammy ffs.

That team we had out should have produced a much better performance and it is the manager who tells them all week how he wants them to play.

Norcal, i think is was the inclusion of anita and a lack of taylor which meant the ball on the deck, i think shola is not good enough for this league

Jd, we’ll have to agree to disagree. For me, we were not great but we were the much better team. Collins was my mom which says something.

I do agree with you on pardew to a large extent. He is no more than mediocre and without some momentum and players in form etc (like 2 seasons ago) he looks out of his depth.

I truely think this is a sad period for fans. Players from both side pleased with performances, Pardew pleased. It seems only Fat Sam is with us in being disappointed with the game and result.

For the first time in my life, I wanted my team to lose. I was thinking perhaps a string of bad results can get Pardew fired. Being a little more radical, perhaps the quickest way out is another relegation to force Ash sell. I know I was out of my mind, but that’s how supporting the club is to me at the moment. Nothing to be cheerful and I hardly feel entertained watching them playing.

I agree Shola isn’t good enough, just got annoyed by the broken record s**t being flung at him and Sammy despite the fact they actually did a half decent job. Some people just echo the same thing without analyzing the subject for themselves

Btw we didn’t deserve to lose this game at all. WHU were far worse than us. Out problem was the usual: indecision and complete disorganization in the final 3rd.

But credit to shola he actually put a great pass to gouffran in the box. That’s more than we can say about our hoof matches for the last few months.

I think it is obvious what we need – Winger and Striker (we need more but not with this owner )

Sell Cabs and buy the above please

@ P, I agree with Hansen although I dislike him to an extent. The Nolan header was the closest to a goal in the whole game. Sammy’s cross was a fluke and nothing to do with our attacking setups. We rely on personal excellence to much in attacks. Don’t get me wrong, I am the biggest fan of Benny’s, but he is obviously over trying as he has to do it all by himself.

Whenever there’s a cross in, there were usually only one or two black and white players in the box and u don’t get goals by playing so cautiously. We lack a balanced midfield. Anita was good in what he did, but we need him and Sissoko to attack the box more like Nolan.

Cisse was bad, but our system doesn’t suit him at all. No built up plays for through balls in the mid or fast counter attacking. What we do was predictable, attacking form flanks with Benny and Mav, and hoping Shola can somehow be where he should be.

Anyway, I am not here for debate as I need to go back working. Just to express my disappointments. After all, it had been a long time since I last regularly post. Forgive me if being too negative, I am not wise enough to feel happy just watch this bunch playing.

Did anyone hear Pardew’s post match comments?

He said they stifled the game by “playing so many long balls”…

Can you believe it?!?! We played more long balls than ANY other team last season. More than Pulis’ or Allardyce’s teams.

It’s like he is actually in a detached state from reality believing we play some beautiful valiant football worthy of moral victories.

We start Shola Ameobi up front. We will never play beautiful football like this.

    Was at game
First half we were woeful. West Ham could of scored twice from free kicks punted straight down the middle into the box.

Second half – much much better played some neat football – lack th e killer ball in and around the box.
NEED A FORWARD AND A STRONG CREATIVE ATTACKING MIDFIELD PLAYER DESPERATELY.
Collins man of the match – he was immense.
Anita our man of the match by a mile – thought midfield three of Anita, HBA and Marvo did well just need the midfield player as above.

Our main let down was up front
CANNOT play Ameobi and Cisse up front.
Ameobi bloody useless went around fouling everyone and thing including his own players, moaned at the ref and my biggest gripe with him is he is bone idle – WILL NOT CLOSE DOWN the opposing teams defenders. Cisse did not look interested second half looked like he was carrying a injury.

Goufron showed more than the two of them put together when he came on.

All in all if we can get a forward and midfield player in – we ain’t got a bad team when we play football and not hoofball.

A fair result, all the way. Two hoof ball teams slugging it out.
What has happened to NUFC? How did we become the most boring and ineffective team in the league? How does a team packed with internationals manage to play with such lack of ideas? What does it say for us if we no longer expect to dominate ANY teams? Where can we pick up points (40 of them)?

We definitely improved in the second half and if Goofy hadn’t missed that open goal we would have won, we certainly wouldn’t have deserved it though.
Anita had a decent game and Sammy did okay when he came on. Cisse was woeful and seems to have lost confidence and any pace he once had.
If Remy is injured most of the season, Cabaye leaves and we don’t buy anyone else we will go down.

Was at the match yesterday and I see there’s a few myths flying around about fan protests etc
1 banner unfurled followed by a bit of booing when it was removed bit booing when marv was subbed … He was becoming more influential as the game went on so a puzzling one and a very brief boo at the end … No shots on target at home probs would’ve happened at any team … So while there was a subdued atmosphere there was no mass protests or fan fury as some reports would have you believe.
Cabaye let him rot in reserves we would’ve probs got the same results in both the games we’ve played even with him imo he’s nowhere near as good as some think and he’s certainly not bigger than nufc … We hold the power in that its a World Cup year and he’s got a while left on his contract…
cisse was abysmal yesterday and shola , debuch weren’t much better. The rest were ok, not great but not bad …. I’m one of sammys biggest critics but I thought he did well when he came on.
West ham showed no ambition and hoped to nick 3 points from a set piece or summick …. And they will away from home a lot this season … We lacked cut and thrust upfront and benny didn’t have his shooting boots on but we did play some nice footy at times …. I’m canny negative about the toon at minute but I’m not as upset as most we were the better team.
Diame for west ham is a midfield monster by the way … Wish we’d got him last summer.

Where can we pick up 40 points?

Answer: With this team we can’t.
Fair enough, we have some good players, but we haven’t got players who will create or score goals and it’s not as if our defence is water tight either.

If Pardew gets sacked after say 10 games without a win, I will feel for him a little bit as he hasn’t been backed up by other staff at the club e.g. bringing in forwards. I do however think it’s time for a fresh approach and some new ideas.
On the flip side, will JFK just get it. If he’s manager I’ll not go to any games until he’s out.

Shola was at his worst last night, iv seen UHT milk turn quicker, at least he usually has something else to offer but every aspect was poor from him last night.

Something has got to give soon, either we start playing well under pardew which we have ib the past or pardew gets the boot, because that sort of performance lacking any kind of grit will not pick points up.

Cisse is next to useless for us. The way play just doesn’t fit his style, he is a goalscorer and that’s it really doesn’t have great footballing ability. We need pace and power up front if we are going to carry on with these tactics.

If we sell Cabaye for £20million we should have a transfer kitty of £30million. I’d go for a winger, playmaker, striker and young RB.

    Wingers
(RW) Marko Arnoutovic -£5million last year of his contract. Similar to HBA but more of a goal threat. Already plays well in a top league, german league.
(LW) Valentin Stocker – £5million Fc Basle player. So plays at a high level and European football. Will take a hell of a lot persuading. Both have interest from PL clubs so not out of our reach.

    Striker
Has to be a powerful striker, one that can link well with Remy. Gomis would be a good choice. If not and Rooney goes to Chelsea have a pop for Lukaku even if its a loan deal till Jan. A cheeky bid for Rhodes maybe?

    Playmaker
If Cabs goes to Arsenal I’d go for Ramsey, always have rated him and think he’d be quality for us. Plus we have his welsh team mate in Dummet :). If not we can hope Marv gains confidence in a playmaker role as he is tidy on the ball and can dribble past players.

    RB
Would love us to take Clyne but thats never going to happen so maybe some young Rb from the championship.

All of them are within the clubs reach and would add to the squad massively.

@naptoon – “Cabaye let him rot in reserves” – what an unbelievably ignorant, stupid comment. We don’t even know anything of what’s happened yet- for all we know he may have WANTED to play! Obviously with our vast array of forward passing creative midfielders and constant victories we can do without him but…. Oh wait, we’ve been awful.

You can’t actually let players “rot in the reserves” anymore, I believe there was a legal precedent where a player got his contract terminated.
    —————————
I just want Pardew to simply declare his ambitions and what he asks of the team and players. What he is actually trying to do. Then we can actually see what is his doing (tactically, doesn’t account for poor training) and what is the players’ fault.

Mourinho came out last week and did a proper tactical evaluation of the Villa match. I would love to hear Pardew do that and just prove he knows/ does/ tries something in a match.
Rather than chucking bodies on to a pitch, lumping it away from our goal (not yesterday 2nd half) and hoping one player does some individual brilliance which is how it looks every single game!
