Curtis Good Makes Debut For Newcastle

MORCAMBE FCnufc emblem

With Coloccini being rested, 20 year-old Australian Curtis Good will make his Newcastle debut tonight  at Morecambe in the Capital One Cup.

And to think we didn’t even have Curtis in the team in our match preview – shame on us.

With this being his very first appearance for Newcastle,  we have to think the Australian has been impressing in training, and of course when Good arrived from Melbourne Heart last summer, he was highly rated and thought to be very good (ok – sorry about that one).

Curtis Good – gets start tonight

Youngsters Paul Dummett, Dan Gosling, Sammy Ameobi, Gael Bigirimana and Haris Vuckic also gets starts for Newcastle at the Globe Arena tonight.

Newcastle also give run-outs to Frenchmen Mathieu Debuchy, Sylvain Marveaux and Yoan Gouffran and Yanga-Mbiwa captains the side.

The bench is packed with experience in Davide Santon, Vurnon Anita, Moussa Sissoko, Hatem Ben Arfa and  Shola Ameobi – in case they are needed.

Newcastle need to win this game tonight – Howay The Lads!!

GOOD STUFF!! Take it this means Curtis is now the 4th choice ahead of Williamson ? Its time for him to stake a claim then

The formation we are playing can be a bit weird when we play Tiote and Jonas as they offer nothing going forward but I think Vuckic, Gosling and Dummett will step up all three of them looked good in pre season so lets go !

No strikers? Playing for a 0 0 draw???

It’ll be interesting to see how the young uns perform. I just hope we get some confidence behind us with a comfortable victory. The whole place needs a massive boost.

On a separate note, I commented a couple of days ago about Demba Ba coming back to the Toon. I’ve heard that we would still like to sign him outright rather than a loan. And the figure would be the £7 million we sold him for. If we get Ba back and keep Cabaye then we would be looking at the squad that came 5th but with the additions we made in January, like Sissoko and Debuchy. If we can get another player or 2 like Incentive or Gomis, I’d be quite happy.

Is this the first attempt with Gouffran as lone striker? It should have been tried in preseason with the struggles of Cisse. Interesting lineup all told.

Well this will be interesting he has plucked names out of the squad hat. For me I would always play my best team as it far better than training, if we get a good lead then take off players after 60 mins or so. sadly seen his tactics too many time now think this is the 4th occasion we have been drawn against lower team in a cup match and lost previous three. I think if I was a little unsure about my future as manager I would play to win and win well. This looks more like a pre season friendly team he has plucked out of the bag. I hope if it goes wrong he will do the right thing and walk as my morale is about shot now.

I like the look of this team. They’ll probably play better than the first team.
I’ve been wanting Gosling to get a start, hope he shows people what he’s capable of.

Might have been an idea to play Cisse, get his confidence back. Saying that Goofy missed that open goal so might get his confidence back.

Interesting lineup but do we really need to go 4-2-3-1 against this side? What about a more attacking formation Alan? Pardew seems terrified to play an open attacking game.

Happy with that team, apart from Gosling! Well chuffed to see Vuckic get a start, the guy is class.
I guess we’re playing with Goufran and Vuckic up front, in a ‘proper’ 4-4-2?
Anyone got a link for a stream?

It will always be the case, Pards did it last season following the Brighton travesty in the FA Cup, the youngsters came in for a bollocking, yet Tiote and Jonas get off scot free for dismal performances.

    Does Pardew think we’re stupid?

that’s very harsh m8, but I do agree, we should play our strongest 11, blooding youngsters is all well and fine, but only if they are blooded with the first team, this is not blooding them as this is just being treat as a reserve team fixture, I didn’t agre with this policy last season even with the Europa league games so I certainly don’t agree with it now, if it was virtually a full strength team with 1 or 2 getting blooded then great, that is what should happen, but this is not helping them to develope because it is a reserve team they are playing in.

Would love it if the youngsters stepped up to make a solid claim

When we got beat off Brighton it was actually the senior players who let us down both games Shola was shocking in that last game never tried a leg then got sent off ! Willamson as well was shocking in a lot of the games and rather than keep possession we would just launch it long which does not suit any of our youngsters , they are all suited to passing football its Pardew thats the problem that holds back their development

Think Gouffy is better as a lone striker than Cisse at least he can hold the ball up and will have decent movement he will be itching to score after that sitter

We need a win tonight in normal time nothing else will do
