Great News – Joe Kinnear Back In For Bafe Gomis

Great news from Sky Sports today, that Newcastle have gone back in to try to tie up a deal for Bafetimbi Gomis, the 28 year-old Lyon and French International striker.

Bafe Gomis – Newcastle back in for striker

Newcastle agreed terms with Lyon earlier this month, but the deal fell through – and one reason was said to be the high fees being requested by his agents.

And only a few days ago Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas had said Newcastle were short by only a few hundred thousand, in getting the deal signed.

But now Newcastle are back in and surely the chances are good that we can now get this lad to Tyneside, because if he’s not sold by next Tuesday, both Lyon and his agents will miss out on some big money, because Bafe becomes a free agent next summer.

The news being reported by Sky Sports is that his agents are now willing to drop their demands, well isn’t that a surprise, and that Newcastle have opened talks with Lyon, which should please their President Jean-Michel Aulas.

His agents would be missing out if Gomis is not transferred this summer, and we always thought this was a great time for Joe Kinnear to go back in and try to get a deal signed for Bafe, who would be an excellent acquisition for the Magpies..

Let’s hope that we can get Gomis signed, sealed and delivered, and that would be good news, very good news for Newcastle fans.

And that’s what we need right now. 😀

Seen Baf live a bunch of times! Hes not amazing! Hes good, but theres a reason we ‘re going to sign a full french international for under 8m uncontested!
That said, unlike cisse, he’ll let defenders know they’ve had a game week in week out! Movement is terrific! Need the players to see his runs tho ,Beats cisse in all attributes apart from shooting! Hes even offside more than papiss lol

Transfer sage- I Dont buy anything from the ground such as drinks, food or match programmes. I do belive that the people who are refusing to go back to the ground are having very little impact financially on ashley as there seats are just being replaced by other fans lol.

Martoon- i agree 100% with you, i think if we got a fast skillful winger and a striker we would be 10 times better going forward. I noticed that Santon and Debuchy didn’t attack as much which made our defence look a lot stronger as a unit. I agree with you that the atmosphere within the ground has changed over the last 5 years after the leazes section was split up. If we find our self getting beat at half/full time there is always a ring of boos in the stadium despite opponent or performance.

Rotonda Heights- I didnt mean to offend however when you watch the games from the stands you get a better picture of the game, This is my opinion. I do understand that a lot of people have other commitment/ restrictions to why they cant get to the game however i was commenting on how peoples opinions can differ from fans who go to the games and fans who dont.

This was always the plan, walk away, let the agents worry….then go back in. Arguably it could happen to us in return with Cabaye.

If we sign him, it’s going to be one way traffic from freekicks awarded for offside.

Phew. Now that Kinnear’s supposedly got his arse out of his pit, he’s decided it’s time to act? That being so, he’ll probably get the wrong bus and find he’s left his pass with his carer! Hence circumstances beyond his control prevented the deal going ahead in time!

He is a waste of space!

Supershearer unlike gomis cabaye is not in the last year of his contract so it’s different for us we hold all the cards on cabayes deal they need to sell gomis as he has told them he won’t sign a contract I think this deal will 100% go through

Thats one way of tackling the problem, anything people think will help is good. If people do want change, and I dont know how many do, then there needs to be steps taking to unite together and not keep doing individual things. Start small to get as many involved as possible and take bigger/stronger action as time goes on.

On the Gomis deal….if we are genuinely interested in him and think he will improve the side just pay the money…can’t always get the best financial deal..sometimes you need the best playing deal.

I’ve always thought we would get Gomis – we are playing a brinkmanship game. I’ve never seen him play but he sounds like he is quite physical so would be a good partner for Cisse or Remy.
Iain Dowie – you are right about the atmosphere – I sit in the Sports Bar and all you can hear is the away support – I had to smile when the West Ham fans were singing DeCannio’s name – they might change their song when they actually play the mackems!

As long as we have competition for strikers it’s a good deal, especially if its only a few hundred thousand more than the previous offer

I read that somewhere else about pardew getting a cut from sales. Surely that is totally unethical and an absolute conflict of interests. No wonder he didn’t get off about Carroll etc. Wonder if Ash will cut him out of any future sales?

Re – going to the match or watching on TV we can still see zero movement off the ball. No one else would pay Jonas what we do.

I completely agree with what you say in regards to the fans that are boycotting at the moment, unfortunately that includes me….but that’s why we are renowned amongst clubs (not the greatest fan base) but for all the reasons you depict in that statement “I do believe that the people who are refusing to go back to the ground are having very little impact financially on Ashley as their seats are just being replaced by other fans lol” how you can find that funny is beyond me. It’s a sorry state of affairs but serve the people rubbish and they will stay pay, (fickle, selfish, self loathing) just a few way’s to describe these fans unfortunately, we will never progress as a club until we have a fan base that is united

Please don’t complain about the lack of investment in the club because you support every action being taken by this mob with purchases of season tickets, you pay for JFK’s wage enjoy watching the rubbish, I’m more than happy with my decision to give up my season ticket on the grounds of principle, loyalty to my club and not this regime, to try to make a difference but you mock these very fans (disgraceful)

I don’t think Sammy was booed on Saturday though, I think it was Pardew and his decision to take of Marv when maybe Shola should have come off, was told by someone that it was followed by a faint “you don’t know what you’re doing”

Now ssn have us interested in loaning Ba back. Cant see how that would work. He cant play 442 with cisse, and he wont play wide in a 433 even though that worked well at the time.

That’s the worry with Gomis, outside of Marv, Cabaye and Anita who have we got that can spot a pass? One’s off and the other 2 rarely start despite us supposedly having a small squad.

As much as I said I would like to see Ba and Gomis come in, that is only feasible if cisse is off

remember we also have remy, gouffran and *gulp* shola

Remy Gouffran and 2 from Cisse/Ba/Gomis is more than enough

    we need a winger!

most managers take a cut of player sales dirty harry was on 5% probably why he has always had a big through put on players. most are on 1%. usually listed in the accounts as associated cost, in there with agent fee’s its the best way for the owners to get a manager to sell a player.

He is a good striker, he can help us, but what about the moral things? Ba is a mercenary.

He walked away for higher wages, and now will come back just because Mourinho don’t need him.

Pardew always moaned about too many games last season but was never prepared to rotate Ba and Cisse to keep the very effective 433 going. Rotation could be great with Ben Arfa and Remy either side of Gomis, Cisse or even Ba. 442 is only good with 2 very good and dynamic wingers.

I have no problem with season ticket holders or any fans doing as they please. Can all do as they please as far as I’m concerned.

I personally don’t want to go with Ashley not spending and in general I find football way too expensive, should be £20 a ticket max like German football is, as well as a standing area.

I was just about to say, there is no way we would sign both. I suppose this is the beginning of Joe’s style of back and forth between players each day. Thankgod we only have a week to endure it.

Where is the dignity these days haha.

Remy knocked us back, Ba deserted us midway through a relegation battle.

What to do what to do..

Yeah it wasnt you my comment was aimed at. There arw others who have made snide remarks and even open insults to season ticket holders, to the point where they have even been branded as traitors. I have no intention of going to games myself. I wont stop my son, and i dont see why he should be branded so negatively for wanting to watch his team, especially through this difficult time.
