Well I might see cabaye s last home game. I hope he plays well but I hope he gets a good reception to remind him of his place.

    Transfer Sage,
I get you. But, he must ‘ve had the ball more than any other player on the pitch, unlike Gosling who was solid but went missing. I gave him credit because he was there, if you know what I mean. Too many of our players hide behind others. In any case, his game was nothing to write home about.
Overall, we should be concerned about the team rather than individual displays. We didn’t put together ONE move to show we are a PL team. That’s sad.

Would like to know if it was Cabaye who refused to play or he was just left out. Wish someone would come out and say wtf has really gone on because to go from he refuses to play to pardew is gonna pick him for Fulham game on Saturday sounds a bit strange to me.

I don’t care about this competition but it sure contained a lot of lessons:
    * So, we have found our level. Give or take this was anyone’s game. If Gosling had not saved twice off the line we could’ve lost.
    * We don’t have any tactics to speak of. Players don’t know what to do with the ball, no organisation, there doesn’t seem to be a plan going forward, players seem to be playing with their own wits.
*We can’t string together more than four passes, Morecambe can, but we’ll get there.
*Bigi had a stinker, needs loaning. Vuckic is not a CF.
*Disagree with some posts, Marveaux should be given more games, he’ll be way better than Cabs.
*The difference were the Ameobi brothers(yeh, I know!) even though Shola missed a sitter.

Cabs should look at what happened to Ba: from centre stage hero to, effectively, zero.
That’s the fate that awaits him at Arsenal. He’ll be found out. I foresee a lot of bench warming.

Yeh sammy still has a lot to learn but the lad at least made a big effort…all you can ask of players really. He kept showing for the ball, ran tirelessly and beat men very well….just needs to get his head up a bit and improve that final ball. Nice to see a winger actually getting to the by-line though which helps.

Agree on team performance though, we are struggling to build any good attacking moves. Much better at keeping the ball around the middle of the pitch but when getting into the final third we seem to hit a brick wall/

To everyone who was at the match last night. Your support was superb. Noisy and passionate, getting behind the lads when we were under the cosh. I’m sure the younger players would have been inspired by the backing. Helped me remember why I love this club.

The right way to handle Cabs would be a huge boo when he is first announced to let him know we dont like what he did and then a cheer everytime he touches the ball to let him know that its now water under the bridge and to remind him of the support he gets here… We did something simelar with Sir Les (Different circumstances I know) and he loved it!

@cyprus: Gosling was shades of Guthrie last night. Anonymous but turned up where required and moved around off the ball, trying to pull Morcombe out wide. Give him a bit of a run in the team and you’ll start seeing what the lad is made of.

    As for last night
Vukic not the player some people talk about had a stinker
Marveaux with his ability should do a whole lot better
Gosling was on the posts for corners did his job but not good enough
Mbwia worst he has played for us
Dummett, Good, Shola and Sammy come out of this match as possible contenders for the first team
Bigi and Gouffran have showed in other games they can offer something but didn’t step up last night
Fans at the game brilliant again

Gosling is going to be a good squad player like Guthrie was. I’d like to see Ba back permanently and Cisse moved on if gomis came too. If cabs goes no replacement needed on terms of ability but for leadership/heart/effort putting his off field and twittering exploits aside I’d have Joey back.

Mcdermotts mighty whites next round – it’ll be a toughy.

There’s a fair few people on here who know their stuff, ones who understand the game and ‘see’ it rather than just watching where the ball goes and only rating people who don’t put a foot wrong.

Bigi is the classic example last night, His positional play is excellent, his anticipation, his ability to spot trouble, his tackling, all very, very good for a CM so young. Remember this is a very young lad who gets thrown in the first team for the tricky games. This one last night, and some of the Europa games last season against hard grafting, tough journeymen players who have been playing the game almost as long as the kid has been alive!

Playing in the thick of it in one of Pardew’s teams means that you are going to see a LOT of the ball. Breaking up play is difficult at any level, especially where you’re up against players who really, really want to turn you over.
He got a lot of things right last night, and alongside who? Lightweight Gosling who couldn’t tackle a fish hook. Gosling who runs forward at any sign of attack, and jogs slowly back into position. I thought Bigi was very good last night, but would have looked immense IF Pardew had put him alongside a decent CM partner like Anita or Sissoko. Typical of the man to make changes, throw kids in when really theyre on a hiding to nothing.

Then there’s Pardew’s pre-match motivational talk. ‘There’s a lot of players out there who I’ll be drawing a line under tonight’

I think that’s known as ‘throwing them under the bus’. The twat.

It was worrying what happened to Mbiwa last night. I’ve never seen a player struggle so much since the days of Boumsong. He was being caught out left, right and centre, caught in possession and ,until about 70 minutes, refused to put his boot through the ball. So much for the former captain of Montpellier being a “natural born leader”. I didn’t hear or see him even attempt to marshall the defence.

Colo, STaylor, Mbiwa and Sissoko are aggressive?

You must be watching a different game to me. Just because the first three are defenders doesn’t mean they are aggressive and when has Sisdoko ever gone full blooded into a tackle and taken the man and the ball? How aggressive was Mbiwa last night? STaylors aggression is all bluff and daft tackles and Colo, cultured player that he is, is no John Terry in the physical department.

Tiote is a shadow of what he was in his first season which just leaves Shola as the only player who really lets the oppo know he is there. We are not a powerful aggressive team by any stretch.

totally agree with your point of view point. We’re just giving opinions here and no one is Guardiola -maybe AP comes on 😉 ? Still, I disagree with you regarding Tayls and Cabs 🙂

On the fans last night. Thanks for making the HBA sub! I know you called it before AP 🙂

Marv needs a run of games to get the best out of him but to get the best out of him we need movement and players that want the ball everytime he gets the ball he looks for a pass and its never on because the lack of movement in the team hes a pass and move kind of player who will always look bad in a team with no movement. My opinion thoughts anyone??

    east end

I defend marv a lot, think he is a real talent and can be a big player for us.

Last night’s performance though is why a lot don’t like him…he had little to work with, as did sammy ameobi…but by putting in the extra effort and working hard sammy looked the better player. I think Marv doesn’t always help himself. He needs to adapt his game to suit the team….especially if the team can’t get round to his way of playing.

Still think he should get a run in the hole behind the striker for 5 games, see what he offers there, especially if cabaye goes.

If Bales gone I see a Carroll type deal if spuds want cabs.

Bigi is the future I hope we dont spoil his talent. Gosling is never going to set the place on fire but is a steady solid performer. Ba Gomis and Alderwierld in Marv amd Cisse out if cabs goes too off load debuchy and Invest in Ince and a quality rb.

I want to see him in the hole he can bring players into the game around the box and deliver that killer pass, his work rate does need upped to help the team and thats why he shouldnt be on the wing as the full back gets exposed like debuchy last night. with sissoko and anita behind him he can have a sort of free role with protection behind him.
