Lyon’s Bafetimbi Gomis is still probably Newcastle’s first choice in the transfer window, and we are supposed to be negotiations for him and according to Sky Tyne and Wear his wages are the stumbling block- and Newcastle will not raise their current wage offer – so again if this is true – we seem to be in another stalemate – why do Newcastle seem to have huge difficulties getting players into the club?
Bafe Gomis – wages are the problem
And if we cannot get Gomis through the door before next Tuesday rolls around Demba Ba could be an alternative but we don’t think he will come back to Newcastle.
So if Newcastle fail with those two strikers it seems out next choice could be Marseilles’ winger/striker Andre Ayew, and there was news in the Times earlier this week that Newcastle had lodged a bid for for around £7M.
But as usual it seems that the selling club – Marseilles – are said to want around £10M for the 23 year-old, who has been capped 43 times for Ghana and scored 13 times in 45 games for Marseilles last term – and looks a very decent player.
So it’s a very dodgy time for Newcastle fans at the moment, and the very least we need to see before next Tuesday, is a top striker coming though the door, but things are being left very late – and that’s a huge concern.
And now for something completely different – as the Monty Python crew used to say – way back when.
Here’s a video we saw yesterday that was made just two weeks ago – and bear in mind Madeline and I have a daughter called Elaine, who has her own very successful makeup business.

What I will say is that we did play a fluent 433 under pardew, even if it was just for 6 or so games.
So he knows he can set them up like that, the players can work in that system and play well…so if he does chose to go back to it we could see a marked improvement…maybe remy is the catalyst to get back to that? We will see soon enough.

Comment #82Thing is I fully expect us to beat Fulham they are gash I think we will beat them 1 nil which might be enough to give us confidence in the next few games after it
My worry is Villa will destroy us they have been unlucky against the big teams but if they attack us like that we will crumble We dont really have a centre back partnership capable of dealing with Weimann and Benteke prob need to play Shola again to defend set pieces

If he did I think he would play
Krul
Deb colo mbiwa san
Sissoko anita
Cabaye
Arfa cisse remy
He would play sissoko and Anita further back which means that the front 3 will only have one proper person supplying them so we become predictable

Comment #86Anyone else think that if things go bad this season, the murmurs of boos turn into roars and we give Mike Ashley torrents of abuse that is heard all over the world whenever we’re on TV that we might actually see Mike Ashley put the club up for sale again?
Lee Ryder was at pains to say that “everyone could hear the chants against Mike Ashley, even more so because the game was on Sky” – which makes me think that there are people somewhat uncomfortable with the boat being rocked. Just thinking out loud here.

Agree there lad…i dont like the word over achieve though…you get what you deserve after 38 games. I think we benefited from good buys. Ba fired us up the league then as his goals dried cisse arrived bang in form. when one of them didn’t do it HBA or cabaye would produce.
We rarely scored good team goals, i’d say a lot were individual strikes from one of those 4 i mentioned but one of them was always on top form for us. That just won’t happen every year which is why I think we suffered last year.
We need to get good team play and find a way to score as a team, not on wonder strikes.
I posted stats what showed we had 3rd highest % of our shots outside the box last year and 2nd lowest % in six yard box which shows we dont do team goals.chances very well.
Also the season we finished 5th we had the lowest amount of shots on goal in the league but the one of the best conversion rates.
To me it shows when things go well they can go very well, but if something doesn’t click through injury, lack of form, players sold etc we can plummet

It’s a sound formation, I’m in no way saying that it wouldn’t work, if anything it is the perfect formation to suit the players we have, on paper that is.
However, Pardew would drag to the 2 wide men further down the wings as defensive cover leaving the lone striker isolated, just like in our 4-2-3-1, there would be poor link up play between midfield and attack and the same problems would repeat themselves over and over again.
Pardew’s default setting is to defend, which is why these inherently attacking formations never work under him. He’s a 4-4-2 man, and under Pardew I can’t see us achieving much success unless we go back to 4-4-2.

if Remy isn’t the catalyst for a 4-3-3 then I really do fear for the season, because if he isn’t and Remy is used alongside Cisse in a 4-4-2 then I would be very fearful because we would have two strikers where neither of them are able to play with their backs to goal (target man) and we would have Jonas on the left with Benny not knowing what his role should be, Remy and Cisse surely cannot be used as the front two in a 4-4-2, Remy on the left with Gomis alongside Cisse could work, but I hope to god we never see Cisse and Remy as a twin pairing

My thinking is that those who travel to away games, and chant against Mike Ashley, may be the type of people who have had enough and are staying away from SJP, which is a good thing in itself. Will be interesting if those who cannot stay away from SJP are disillusioned enough to bring the “fat cockney b*****d” chant back into SJP.

I had a friend go to the west ham game and when the fans got the banner referring to JK as a clown they were asked to take it down, when put back up it was taken off them.
unless there are mass banners up then I can see the security trying to remove them..fortunately TV cameras will always pick them up so will still get air time.

That’s the fine balancing act at the minute isn’t it? What is the best course of action for us, as fans? Should we organise protest marches, should we try and organise meetings with the club and relay our displeasure in that sense? Do we try and have a boycott or do we go into SJP and not only let Mike Ashley know that we’re not happy, but let the entire world know that we’re not happy?
I’d like to get as many fans as possible around a table and thrash this all out and put our best foot forward.
There’s a FansUtd meeting in the Irish Centre, Thurs 5th Sept 6.30pm for anyone interested in these sorts of discussions.

If we begin the practice of bringing in banners, the stewards will be advised not to allow entry to anyone carrying a banner, it’s censorship, Ashley won’t allow it.

The travelling fans are always the hard core and most vocal of all fans at any club and with the mood definitely turning against Ashley and co I’d be amazed if there was no chanting against him tomorrow…….even more so if the performance is poor and the result goes against us

I’d be amazed if there is no chanting against Mike Ashley, the fat cockney chant always seemed to come out whenever we weren’t playing particularly well in a certain game, this season the chant will be non stop if that’s the case!
If people are going to continue going to SJP, which is their right to do so, then perhaps they can help the cause by booming loud and clear so that Sky, and BBC can hear that we no longer want Mike Ashley here. (I’m a poet and I didn’t know it 😉 )

the difference between now and the last time he put the club for sale is that we are now worth a hell of a lot more money to him.
But if a buyer does come in then expect them to come from America and not some oil Barron from the middle east

defo think the way forward is the fans to be vocal and put up banners etc as this does give us media coverage.Because Ashley attends home games so people can put their point across.
Can also see the sense in a boycot though as this hits him in his pocket eg match day revenue and also will get media attention.
Under this owner the club is going nowhere.

If he lost 10,000 in attendance this season it would be noticeable and give him bad coverage, whilst hitting him a little bit in the pocket, and if the remaining 40,000 were chanting “get out of our club…etc” then it gives him even more bad coverage, the whole media coverage for that would increase the pressure on him, and if the results are bad the pressure cooker is intensified.
However, the main thing is that we don’t create an environment that is damaging to the team’s performance on the field but we still need to get our message across.

It is nothing short of ridiculous how many stories there have been saying the deal is dead, then a few days later saying we are back in for him.
What a waste of fu<king time like.
All in the name of a few hits.
It's even more annoying than those stupid celebrity news updates they have in the middle of films on telly.

Of course, 3 points is the most important thing, but I hope the fans that are going to SJP realise that even if results are going well, we still need to rid this club of Mike Ashley, this feeling shouldn’t be dependant on whether we’re doing ok in the league or doing badly, he needs to know that his time is up, he is past the point of return and we want him gone.

I suppose Ed does need to freshen up the blog with a different article here and there, otherwise we’d have threads with 1000+ comments on them.
I rarely go through every article unless it has a headline that I am interested in, which obviously excludes every nonsensical transfer update, and go straight to the comments.
All about perspective I suppose.
