Newcastle One Of Four Bids In For Top Frenchman

It had been assumed that Florian Thauvin would move to Marseilles today, and French daily L’Equipe are reporting that there is an offer  from Marseilles to Lille of up to €15M, and that includes bonuses, for Lille’s  top 20 year-old, who helped France win the U20 World Cup in Turkey over the summer.

Florian Thauvin – Newcastle have bid for this player

And there has been interest from the Premier League and in particular Newcastle United, Liverpool and Arsenal are reported by le10sport.com, to have lodged official bids  for Thauvin.

Liverpool are said to have offered €10M, with Newcastle and Arsenal offering €2M more than that – but is seems that Marseilles have topped the Premier League clubs with an offer of  €15M.

If that news is correct, then Newcastle would need to increase their offer to be successful, but given we could have bought Florian in January for €3.5M,  which is what Lille paid for him, that may not turn out to be a good deal.

So if we are thinking about which offensive player Newcastle will bring in today ( if any), it’s probably not going to be Thauvin.

And it’s not going to be Bafe Gomis either, according to Lyon President – Jean-Michel Aulas – who has said the French striker will see out hos contract and become a free agent next summer, when all kinds of clubs will be after him.

So who could it be – maybe Andre Ayew of Marseilles who is is a Ghanaian international, and we were supposed to have lodged an initial bid for the player about a week ago, but no new news on what that situation is.

And we suppose we could bring in an Englishmen – yes an Englishman – like England U21 winger Tom Ince of Blackpool – and the Daily Mail is reporting that Aston Villa, Everton and Tottenham are also interested.

But Newcastle need to bring in somebody – and if we fail to do that – it would not be a good day for Newcastle fans.

    Beatte

Stop slagging other supporters who may have differing views to yours on how the club is run.
They are not traitors to the cause – it’s pure arrogance to suggest yours is the only true path and we have all been conned.

We are all pretty much all gutted by the abysmal ownership of this club. This window has definitelty confirmed the contempt the owner has for our football club.

And do try to keep your toys in your pram

    Felipe,

Pardew said on MOTD on Saturday that he was wary that any of out players could still be sold.
We haven’t had an offer yet that has got anywhere close to our valuations.
The crunch will come if we do.

Why do people keep banging on about Ashley personally bankrolling the fcuking club?
    Stop talking sh*te
We’re a top flight team, with one of the highest gates in the league, a huge increase in TV money and the club have reported the most successful shirt release sales in 3 years
Saying there’s no money in the club is plain fcuking stupid

    You are wrong there mate.

It has been confirmed he has made 4 signings.

He cannot resist a bargain deal so instead of 1 for 40p, he went for the 4 sausage rolls for £1.20.

Your gripe appears to be with Pardew……it’s not easy. You cannot play all the players all of the time. That said there does not appear to be any effective rotation. I’m unsure what lesson AP has learnt……his arrogance is very trying. If only he could see the wood for the trees…..perhaps our season will be alright…time will tell. I’m not gonna hold me breath re: tfr’s today so let hope for the best ey! HWTL

If the club are only going to go for one or two signings a window, i don’t mind too much as long as they do more elsewhere.

We need to really look into the academy, not just achieve category 1 status like we now have but get in some genuine top class coaches, copy the academies at clubs like barca, ajax, arsenal, even southampton who produce crackers.

We need to really get a grip on this and bring through some great young players.

I will be amazed if anyone signs for us. Can’t see it, it’s all just more delaying tactics until the window shuts then out come the excuses. Ashley then grins to himself that there’s another window with money banked.

You wouldn’t think we finished 16th.

Wasn’t it Kevin who said that if you’re not signing players, you’re going backwards, because everyone else is looking to improve and better what they have got.

Sick of hearing Pardew’s open and indirect reminder to clubs that Cabaye or the rest of our players are for sale.

transfer…that’s called common sense and long term logical thinking but one has to realise Ashley isnot in this for the long haul…he bought the club, we chased him away, he’s now got the club in a saleable position and will sell as soon as the right offer is negotiated…he is not even thinking about tomorrow never mind the next 5 years

That could be it, makes sense in a way.

I just don’t see Ashley selling anytime soon, I think he will use us for many more years to push his sports direct around europe and world as best he can until we are of no use for him

Unless a silly offer for the club is made by somebody but i doubt that.

Even if we spent all are efforts in to the youth system we still need to make some signings seeing as we’ve released or let the contracts run on so many of the youth set up

Taylor’s never ending fouls and shirt pulls must be ok then are they? Williamson but be a quality stand in?

We finished 16th last leason thanks to Swansea and Bosingwa, so you’d think that things should change… but no.

To be fair, no one has gone in for Ince.

    .Felipe,
You are justifying Ashleys thinking which we arent sure of cause he hasnt stated his ambitions in the last 3 years. We finish 5th and he penny pinches and we drop.

If he succeeds its Ashleys plan. If he fails its Ashleys mistake and he will learn frm it. Ok … how many years ?
The answer is – Either till he feels like or till he makes profit or till the gullible fans throw him out, whichever is shorter.
Also if he isnt sure, hire experienced successful people. Kinnear ?

Isnt it better to have 1 player extra than one less ?

    Thump,
Im not sure if yr being sarcastic , I meant we shdnt wait for the fall this time (AGAIN).

I don’t know why people think that Ashley might sell up, he’s making fortunes from the revenues being diverted from the club and the advertising of SD would cost him tens of millions elsewhere, he can afford to take the hit if we go down as he’ll just lump the money lost on the never decreasing debt, he’s prepared to gamble on our failure but not our success.
