Newcastle Will Not Be Signing This Player Tonight

French club Marseilles have said that their Ghanaian International forward Andre Ayew, will be staying at the club and that Marseilles have seen off interest from both Newcastle and Liverpool.

Andre Ayew

Andre Ayew -staying at Marseilles

Both Liverpool and Newcastle had made contact with Ayew’s agents on a possible deal, and while Liverpool had other targets which they have since signed,  Newcatsle have still to make their  first permanent signing of the summer, and there’s  just over four hours left in this window.

What have we been doing for the last three months?

Ayew had admitted earlier in the summer that he would be interested in a move away from Marseilles, especially if  a bid came in from Liveprool (what?).

This is the statement Marseilles have just issued:

“Despite several enquiries from European clubs in recent weeks, OM are pleased to announce that Andre Ayew will continue his adventure at his first club”

So here is another player to tick off the list of those who are not coming to Newcastle, and he joins Bafe Gomis, out top target,  who is already on that list.

So maybe our best bet now of a signing in the next four hours is Tom Ince of Blackpool.

But why it has come down to the last four hours of the transfer window, and we still haven’t signed the striker we so  desperately need, is not good – and we’ll leave it at that.

There’s still a little time for Joe Kinnear to get his job done.

Comments welcome.

Actually…I believe as it stands we’ve spent more on transfers than both Man Utd and Arsenal. Our £2M loan fee for Remy trumps their meagre incomings I believe. Of course that will change in the next few hours…but just making the point…

I don’t believe we ever truly wanted him.

Newcastle’s probably going to sign Gomis tonight.

They’ll sign somebody, the consequences are too dire if they don’t… just from a PR standpoint.

If they don’t & they sell Cabaye, If you’re a horse, I’d stay away from the city centre, unless you wish to be punched in the face.

MA and his new side kick JFK have obviously decided not to spend.
But I honestly think it is MA way of getting one over on the fans, he knows he’s disliked.
Also saving money is the name of his game.

Wages are different, but I’d say any money spent to obtain a player’s registration (loan fee, agent’s fee, signing on fee etc.) counts.

Would you rather we sign 2 good players “for free” now and paid £10M in other fees or 1 good player for an £8M fee plus £2M other fees?

The price doesn’t matter to me as long as they are good players.

We have spent some money, just not very much…not at all…

I see a a couple of club stooges on here are still defending the regime despite their record of a consistent dereliction of duty, negligence and wanton contempt for the fans who want to see their passion and money converted into an ambitious plan for the progression of the club.

o.k….so we judge jfk by signings this window ?
i know we have a good team dont get me wrong but with us signing no one this window means we have learnt fk all and even i who see both positive and negative in things think this is taking the p*&s !!!!!

just 1 player and i’ll be half moaning that its been a bad window ect but with not one player (apart from a borrowed player) is dire even by our standards.

pls pls pls sign gomis pls ffs.

With a bit of luck Kinnear will resign at midnight over his failure to bring in any of the alleged targets. Pardew’s sacking will take longer, mainly due to the international break and will follow our next defeat at Aston Villa. Newcastle it seems is not an attractive destination for any of our main targets and really – who can blame them !!
