Joe Kinnear has had almost 80 days to get a striker through the door to replace Demba Ba, who left in early January, but the only signing Joe made was a loan signing of Loic Remy from QPR for £2M, and that’s the only senior signing Newcastle have made in this summer’s transfer window, and it’s simply not good enough. In fact it’s a disgrace.
Joe Kinnear – what’s this guy been doing for 12 weeks?
Where’s the ambition at Newcastle from the likes of owner Mike Ashley and his pal Joe Kinnear?
It simply doesn’t exist and why Mike Ashley wants to keep the club and keep it ticking over in utter mediocrity, but keep us in the Premier League so we get between £60M and £100M every year, is completely unacceptable for a club with Newcastle’s great history and unbelievable fan support.
What has happened this summer is nothing less than an insult to Newcastle’s dedicated fans, and it’s simply not good enough.
It’s been a sad sad summer for Newcastle fans, and a very sad day today when Newcastle have simply verified that the leaders of our club have no ambition at all – none.
And don’t forget we do have money to spend, but for whatever reason the powers that be have decided to spend nothing – sorry – £2M for Loic Remy for his loan – even though we are the 20th richest football club in the world based on revenue, and have one of the best home attendances of any of the clubs in Europe.
Mike Ashley strategy – spend as little a possible to keep Newcastle in the Premier League
Here are some of the last day transfers that actually went through – and of course you will not see Newcastle on this list
- Arsenal signed Mesut Ozil for €50M
- Atletico Madrid completed the signing of Ajax center-bask Toby Alderweireld – a Newcastle target
- Marseilles signed Thauvin for £12.5M, although he was a Newcastle target right up until this last day
- Marseilles kept their Ghanaian International forward Andre Ayew after interest from Newcastle – we suppose we didn’t offer enough
- Tom Ince stayed at Blackpool, although we were supposed to be after him
- Sunderland signed Italian striker Fabio Borini – I thought we were the ones short of a striker?
- West Brom broke their transfer record to sign Stephane Sessegnon from Sunderland
- Gareth Bale signed for real Madrid for a ridiculous €100M
- Fulham signed defensive midfielder Elsad Zveroti from BSC Young Boys
- Manchester United signed Marouane Fellaini from Everton for £27.5M, after he asked for a transfer
- Cardiff City signed striker Peter Odemwingie of West Brom for £4M
- Romelu Lukaku ended up on loan at Everton for the season
- Everton signed Wigan midfielder McCarthy for £12M from Wigan
- West Brom signed Victor Anichebe from Everton for £6M
Why were Newcastle not involved in trying to get players like James McCarthy, Romelu Lukaku, Tom Ince and even Fabio Borini through the door today
Are we fighting in the Premier League with one hand tied behind our backs – because the club refuses to spend money in the transfer market, so that our financial books look good?
It looks like it, and at the very least the Newcastle fans – Mike Ashley’s customers we may add – deserve an explanation as to why we haven’t signed one senior player permanently this summer.
And that’s against a backdrop of other Premier League clubs – our competitors – buying players all over the place.
Did I say it wasn’t good enough?

Comment #82I think we should use social media to co-ordinate a sit- in of Toon fans dressed in their jerseys at Sports Direct stores. Imagine a thousands of the Toon Army all entering his stores at the same designated time. Bound to attract media attention and disrupt his business. Plus you are not doing anything illegal as far as I am aware. What do you think lads? It would be do able like.

Comment #83Look forward to a season of Pardew blaming defeats to rubbbish teams on transfers.
We still have better players than 14 of the teams so it’s not all doom and gloom. If Remy comes in and keeps Jonas out the team and we can sort morale and tactics out the team should be in top 8 easily.
Pards has gone back to playing 4-4-2 and being ‘hard to beat’ rather than ‘likely to win’ so it will be another year of long ball and excuses.

Comment #84The only possible reason we refused to sign anyone is that Ashley has saved his money to pay pardew off and give the new bloke some money in jan for his own players, pardew is dead man walking.

Comment #85Mike Ashley’s a gambler – and now I honestly believe he bought NUFC just to make money despite fans ambitions- that was the gamble. Everyone knows it’s near impossible to make money in the EPL. I think he will just be happy to rake in that TV money every season, sell key players on profit and lightly maintain the club afloat in the EPL. He’ll soak us dry and see for how long he can get away with it with either a huge fan boycott or another relegation our only saviours from this clown and his sidekick Joke Kinnear!
How depressing it’s become being a fan and it seems to get worse every month-week-day 🙁

Comment #87“Confirmation from Manchester United that three men who reportedly attempted to negotiate a deal to sign Athletic Bilboa midfielder Ander Herrera were not acting on behalf of the Premier League champions and were, for want of another word, imposters.
“Reports in Spain claim three men dressed in black suits and claiming to be United “representatives” spent an hour at the La Liga offices attempting to negotiate a deal. The move collapsed at the 11th hour.”
I bet it will turned out to be an honest mistake like when Robinho thought he signed for Manchester United when it was actually City.
Kinnear, Charnley and Ashley selling us as “United” in Spain.

Comment #89Belfast…Ha, shows where we’re at, that comforted me 🙂
I know a lot is said about how many fans will just continue to turn up in numbers, but I’d be shocked is SJP gets anywhere near capacity anytime soon.
Truly think the tide is turning and Ashley best have his exit strategy in place or be ready for a bumpy ride. I want to believe that a turn in fortune on the field could help things, but it’s surely too late. Straw that broke the camels back for too many imo.

Comment #92That’s it for me people, I will not come back on this blog.
I just feel the club has let down us fans and Pardrew has lied to all our faces in coming out every week and saying we need 2 strikers, we are working hard in bringing in strikers.
I will watch a match here and there but I will not spend 1 penny of my money on Nufc, Nor will I take our club so serious and personal anymore, It’s time to move on for me.

Comment #96Look am bitterly disappointed myself thinking we would buy atleast 1 player.
Mind peeved we never seemed linked with Lukaku like he would have been a great loan signing, even Ba!!
But I have faith knowing that
——————— Krul
Debuchy – Mbiwa – Coloccini – Santon
——- Cabaye – Anita – Sissoko
Ben Arfa ——– Cisse ———- Remy
Is a top 10 team.
Hoping for a injury free season! We deserve it after last season.
Our bench looks strong to
GK Elliot, Alnwick
DF STaylor, Williamson, RTaylor, Dummett, Haidara, Good, Street
MD Jonas, Tiote, Gosling, Marveaux, Bigirmana, Vuckic, Amalfitano, Obertan, Sammy
ST Gouffran, Shola, Campbell
Players in their that started a couple years ago!
Got to say the striker position looks weak! But hoping Campbell can fill in an break through, could potentially turn out to give the lad a chance, who knows he maybe what we need!
No EL this year squad is under less stress too.
My only worry is Pardew and his tactics! Need to get it sorted ASAP!

Comment #98Can imagine Carr and his team leaving us pretty soon, and wouldn’t blame them in the slightest.
Why did Ashley have to choose our club? Why Newcastle?
I know it’s ambitious and slightly desperate to believe, but a journo for the Mag has said that there’s a Ukrainian billionaire in opening talks with Fat Ash about buying the club…. clutching at invisible and slippery straws here!

Comment #105Cabaye is and never was worth £25m – another Ashley smokescreen.
What an utter unreserved embarrassing shambles.
It is time we boycotted or something – this can’t go on.
Although their being no deal anywhere wasn’t unexpected – we were conspicuously and obviously absent from any discussions or anything else for that matter.
According to the Times corespondent George Courtney if Llambias had still been at the club we would probablyhave brought in 2 or 3 of the quoted targets. He suggested that Kinnear had put a block on Douglas which was pretty much a done deal and everything else we had worked on over the last 6 months went out of the window too.
A rank amateur destroying our club with ‘big’ Mike,

The team is good enough, but our manager is not. We have seen what our team can do when given freedom to attack juat like the last 15 minutes of the Fulham game.
But for 75 minutes of the game and all of this season it has been the same negative tactics and gameplan.
I fully agree that is our best team but Tiote will walk straight back in to the lineup and he will probably try to find a place for Jonas as well.

I’m sorry mate but I have little confidence in Elliot should Krul get injured.
Williamson is Championship. R. Taylor is injured. Streete and Good, young and too inexperienced. Haidara’s injured.
Obertan – no. Almalfitano – no. Jonas – no. Vuckic – not yet. Sammy – not yet. Gosling – jury’s still out on that one.
Shola won’t get us enough goals and Campbell again is too young and inexperienced – not yet.
This isn’t a team with sufficient cover. Players get injured, get fatigued, lose form or motivation. They need competition, they need new faces.

Comment #108Yes this window has been a disgrace but what are you going to do about it? NOTHING!!
You’ll pi$$ and moan on a blog about how much of a cnut MA and JK are yet you’ll file through the gates of SJP week after week pumping money into his greedy pockets.
It’s all well and good saying “support the team, not the regime” but that time has come and gone.
I for one will not be setting foot anywhere near that team and stadium. I’ve paid for my ticket to Villa away and ill use that game to get my frustrations out (along with most of the supporters there) and then im done. 30 years of following that team through the ups and downs that football spits out and Ashley and his idiotic mates have left me bitter and angry towards the club i once loved.
To all those who will be at SJP week in week out, you need to have a long hard look at yourselves and ask “am i park of the problem?” and i would say yes you are.

Comment #109Toonacious T…I thought the article summarized well. It’s what comes next that I am interested in now.
Not a sh!te idea at all…much better to be thinking what to do than just giving up. Not sure what SDs policy on loitering is though…the Geordie Loiterers! Like it 🙂
There are a lot of people taking an interest in getting Ashley out. There are several campaigns going, which I have only recently started reading up on with much interest.
It’s worth taking a look at. If change is to come it has to be structured and with a united voice…we are Newcastle United after all…Ashley can never take that from us whilst we still believe and fight.

Comment #112Off to bed now. More than a bit peeved that we’ve waited the whole damn transfer window for this damp squib of a day. At least if we weren’t going to do any business then someone at the club could have come out and told us the truth.
That’s the biggest issue that I have with the club to be honest – communication. If I lived in Newcastle then I’d love to be involved with the fans forum and I’d love to ask the club why they can’t just communicate honestly with the fans.
I don’t expect them to make all their plans public because obviously that doesn’t make sense, but what harm could it have done to say that they didn’t think they would be doing any business today?

Comment #11646.000 against Fulham. That number will be lower against Hull. I’ve allready cancelled one ticket this season and will, after this window, cancell the other one too. My own peronal boycott won’t do much alone, but I feel I’m fighting injustice here.
We should write B. Obama a letter and tell him Ashley is terrorizing us and hope he drops a bomb or something.

Comment #118Bloody hell though. If this is a “shambles” and a “disgrace”, then what the hell was it that happened to Leeds, Portsmouth and Blackburn?!
It’s a bad transfer window (again) and we had a very good transfer window in the middle.
I’m baffled how we didn’t get one over the line and I’m very disappointed that the club were claiming we were in for several players, then 2, then 1 and now zero. If we had the money for these players then surely it’s JFK’s fault that they weren’t signed?

Comment #120Mike and his c****y chums at nufc are taking the piss, you look week in and week out on match of the day and see attendances at smaller clubs getting 25-30k and are able to blow £30 million in transfers. we on the otherhand always rake in 45,50k attendance a week, and splurge out a daft £2 mill on a suspected rapist. The only way this could change is if people boycott newcastle games but the fans are too loyal too do that. This is what it’s going to be like for years to come. The only good thing to come out of this season is if Sunderland get relegated.
