In our poll we ran after Joe Kinnear was appointed, which now has over 12,000 fans having voted, a massive 89% did not want Joe Kinnear as the Director of Football, and that came even after Joe had told us he could pick up the phone and talk to any manager in the world, and after he said he would be an excellent Director of Football – but self praise is no recommendation.
Here’s the results of the poll.
Joe Kinnear – didn’t get the job done
But a Director of Football is a lot different than a football manager, and to do the job well you have to have certain talents like being a good negotiator, and having some executive qualitie,s since you are often dealing with the Presidents and Chairmen of other clubs.
And while we had hoped Jopr would have some persuasive powers with Mike Ashley to spend a little more money than the Billionaire likes to spend on players (he doesn’t like to spend much), it just hasn’t turned out that way, and we haven’t signed the players we should have signed this summer to fortify the squad.
And we didn’t do that last year either, when we knew we would have more games in Europe, and after reaching the quarter finals of the Europa League we were in a huge relegation scrap, and we finished 5th bottom – but still above Sunderland.
We’ve talked before about Mike Ashley not having enough ambition for a great club like Newcastle United , and he proved it again yesterday.
And the least he can do is to issue some statement about went wrong – and we are assuming it did go wrong, and the plan was not just to bring in only one loan player this summer.
But Mike doesn’t talk to the Newcastle fans, so we will not hear much from the powers that be at Newcastle.
We may have another Koe Kinnear interview – but on second thoughts we could probably do without that.
Unfortunately, it’s going to be up to Alan Pardew to put the best twist he on what has happened yesterday, but we bet he’s also getting sick of having to do that.
It’s a sad time for Newcastle fans, to be sure, but we are still very proud of our club after another huge disappointment yesterday.
It’s in the DNA.

Comment #42Numb A9 – From what I can tell there are plenty of domestic numpties as well, so perhaps you could include that in your post. Everyone has the right to support the toon from where ever they live and I for one welcome them.

The money from advertising others instead of Sports Direct would probably have worked out very closely to what we would have had to pay in interest payments. Plenty of clubs advertise their owners brands, and will do the same.

Comment #44Regarding this protests, probably better if someone or a group of people representing the fans lobbying some billionaire to take over this club. It’s best to look for billionaires in Asia, they have the real cash not just assets, like in Hong Kong or Sout East Asia.
I mentioned Mr. Erick Thohir (Indonesian and not in Forbes list) few weeks ago, he just bought Inter Milan.

Comment #48Just watching BBC Breakfast News and a players agent stressed the importance of a club having a knowledgeable Chief Exec.to make transfer dealings easier to carry out.Well that tells me why JFK is in the job at our club, haha.

I´m so sorry that you are such a rassist.
Better a supporter from Germany than an idiot from
England like you.
I´m in Newcastle for several time`s to see my club.
You are a grave digger of this club.
Shame on you.

Comment #51@ 16 I have to disagree with some of your comments – he comes out and supports the regime standing up for the hierarchy, if he had any pride or passion for the club he would say it how it was. Also if he had the kind of passion or any understanding of the area last season he wouldn’t have fielded a full strength team in our last European game – a tie that was pretty much lost known we had 5under1and 3 days later, a game in which he fielded a team which was humiliated and he chise to leave his favourites on the pitch when they were under performing. So know he does not have the passion he supports a regime that’s ruining our club, no person with passion for this club would let that happen. If you were managing this club would you be the spineless prick he is?

Comment #52We are stuck with what we have now until the desperation sets in during the January transfer window.
Ashley could save some money by getting rid of JFK as he has proved to be a waste of space and a salary.
Others he can start to ditch are as follows: –
Taylor, Williamson, Tiote, Jonas, Shola, Obertan are all ‘Championship’ quality and Sammy should be allowed this season to either make it or be sold. The biggest improvement would be getting rid of Pardew, my 85 year old mother would do a better job than him.

Comment #53Any suggestions as to how we get another caretaker to run the the club? it seems to me that we can protest all we want to Ashley, but that’s of no matter to him.

Comment #54What is your predictions boys and girls?
We all know Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal are going to be top 6. (No particular order listed)
But what about the remainder of the PL based on teams after the window we know what we are up against until Jan 14.
7. Everton (Lukaku is a massive bonus for them)
8. Aston Villa (all depends on Benteke fitness)
9. Newcastle United
10. West Ham (all depends on Carrolls fitness)
11. Swansea (due to El or I would have them in top 10)
12. Norwich
13. Southampton
14. Stoke
15. Fulham
16. West Brom
17. Hull City
18. Sunderland (loss of Sess is massive)
19. Cardiff City
20. Crystal Palace
My opinion of course, any questions?

Comment #55The business skills of Ashley is unparalled though. He brought in JFK, so the onus of buying shifts to the mad man. We wanted Pardew’s head, Ashley didn’t want to pay up the compensation fees to Pardew. So he pushes him towards the ledge by putting the loon as his DoF. While doing so, Pardew is frustated and might consider resigning, while we make JFK our enemy no 1 over Pardew, which is good for Pardew but Ashley gets off the “fire him” hook. That’s the tactical chess play. And with regard to the business, he was never going to buy anyone anyway. One, that will frustate Pardew. Two, why would he? We are not in Europe, squad is good enough to stay up, the wages are more or less at par. All this while, he is assuming that we will churn out a point per game and stay afloat. if we go for a free fall before January, he will bring in one or two good players and sell off some dead woods. If we do well, he will definitely sell off one or two good players and buy some dead woods. Basically he will take one season at a time and recover all the money that he owes. Exemplary business skills i must say, but we are screwed in the process. in the end it is just supposed to be football, our club playing nice and finishing high.

Comment #58Rightly, there is a great deal of anger amongst the Toon Faithful and no doubt they will complain bitterly whilst supporting their beloved Newcastle. The Newcastle supporters are a magnificent bunch who are too loyal for their own good. Mike Ashley and his bunch of nutmegs do not deserve any of them. If the supporters were the reflection of the Newcastle Management and Ownership, Newcastle would be World Beaters at the Top of the league with a bulging Trophy cabinet and Top Quality ambitious players on the pitch. It was sad but telling that our allegedly best player Cabaye, would have only been used as a substitute and not a regular in the Arsenal first team. That is how far we have now fallen behind even the average teams in the Premier League. We supporters have to make our feelings known without demoralising the players. We need to demonstrate to the Owner and his management cronies that we want them out whilst still applauding our lads on the pitch. The time has come to tell Ashley we will not accepted being treated like mushrooms and cash cows until he leaves and we get an owner who will Tell Us What Is Going On, and the truth about our lack of ambition by employing Kinnear and Pardew ? Toon Forever !!!

Comment #59The thing I noticed was SKY didn’t even have a reporter at St James’ park, a few years ago they would have been back and forth to “their man on the spot” It shows we are now no longer considered a big team or a player in the Transfer market!!! Embarrassing!!!!

Comment #60i have been a fan for a long time to comment on state of affairs at nufc, i was glued to deadline day like kids to candies and was desperately hoping for a glimmer of good news, flipping across networks covering the deals, stayed up almost the entire night (late night in india) much to the disdain of my wifey (can’t help much, can u?) what a nightmare it was, it was a horror story. Joke(s) must be put apart if we are to do any good this season, i fear injury to any one arfa/anita/collo could end our season – which is why we needed reinforcement apart from adding ‘flair’…we need divine intervention now..HWTL
