Newcastle Player Hopes To Keep His International Place

9:55 pm, Wednesday, September 4th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 14 Comments

The Newcastle right back Mathieu Debuchy had a terrible game against Manchester City in that very first game of the season, when we were ripped apart 4-0, but it came after the players  learned that Yohan Cabaye would not play, and we have to believe it upset the squad of  players, and of course Mathieu is Yohan’s best mate. It certainly upset us.

Mathieu Debuchy – hopes to keep his place

Not sure if that was some of the reason for our pathetic display that night,  but in  any case Mathieu looked completely out of his depth,  but he played in the next three games and played a lot better – thankfully – and we had three clean sheets too – two wins and a draw. 😀

Debuchy is currently with the French squad getting ready for their two World Cup qualifying games in Group Ion Saturday and next Tuesday.

The other countries in the group are Spain, Finland, Georgia and Belarus, and they play the last two in the next week, and at the moment they are second top just 3 points behind World Champions Spain, after 5 games played.

And Arsenal’s Bacary Sagna has finally recovered from the injuries he’s picked up over the last couple of years, so it will be interesting to see who manager Didier Deschamps chooses for the right-back spot.

This is what the Newcastle player had to say at a press conference today:

“I knew he would come back,” “He plays for a great club at Arsenal and is very tough mentally, but I just have to think of myself.”

“The France team belongs to everyone, but my aim is to give the coach selection trouble.”

Mathieu is a good attacking right back, but not so good when defending, and he seems to have difficulty with fast and skillful wingers, although he’s played some good games for both France and Newcastle.

Mathieu has 14 caps for France and has so far played 18 times for Newcastle.

Debuchy is a liability, every time he makes a tackle I expect him giving a foul away. Looks very over rated to me but I’m sure he’ll come good.

not seen nowt to tickle me balls so far from this lad.

looks like simmo may have found his niche in the chumpionship as well. of the 3 times I’ve seen him play this season hes actually been bombing on down the flank and putting decent balls into the box.

Man City game was a mess. done and dusted, 4 pts from 3 games – same as Man U. No comparison, just saying. I don’t care who was brought in or not brought in. Toon is my club through thick and thin. Management will do what they want, the players still have to play. Play for us – your fans, play for each other…and play because its what you love to do! Let it show on the field and we will cheer you on regardless of outcome. Bring it lads…just bring it!

Serious question. If you could choose. MA or Venkys?

Communication were the main topics and as that was just PR stuff, we really didn’t hear anything we weren’t supposed to, apart from we were the seventh most highest spenders this year.
