Here’s Another Player Newcastle Missed Out On

It’s been reported that Newcastle tried to bring 25 year-old French International midfielder Etienne Capoue to Tyneside, but we didn’t get him and we suppose we were not willing to pay the price that finally got him to Tottenham for €11M (£9.4M).

Etienne Capoue

Etienne Capoue – another Newcastle target

In July, Capoue’s club Toulouse accepted a £9.4M bid from Premier League newcomers Cardiff City, but as in the case of Tom Ince of Blackpool, an agreement could not be reached and Capoue did not join the Welsh side.

And then in mid August the 7 times capped Internatioanl completed a £9.4M transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.

So our question is if Newcastle really wanted this player,  where were we when both Cardiff City and Tottenham agreed the transfer fee with Toulouse.

Of course it could be that Newcastle were only interested in signing the 7 times capped Frenchman if Yohan Cabaye had left Newcastle for Arsenal.

But if Newcastle are going to build a good side for the future,  we must beat smaller and lesser known clubs like Cardiff City to our  top targets.

Mike Ashley must also become more aggressive and more ambitious for Newcastle, and he also has to be willing to spend the money, when we are going after top players.

MA final straw to really p!ss us off and it will come SOON and thats

to put every single player on the transfer list by the end of this season at a cheap rate, i’m talking about selling HBA for 3-5 million — Santon 1-2 million — Sissoko 2-3 million ect, etc

once this TV revenue comes through prepare for the worse

first thing first we had no intention in bringing in any players, all the players we where linked with there wasn’t even a bid for them and that also includes PEA

Yeah the worry now with the Frenchies now if Cabaye leaves we may struggle to get anymore and if we are determined to shop their and we get priced out for the next season it just means we wont bring any players in at all ?

Also does anyone know if we have proper scouts in place in England , Spain etc ? Because even if we dont want to spend a lot of money there is some bargains to be had in the Championship , Division 1 like good young British players who can be moulded into proper players

Mcguire of Sheffield Wednesday would have been perfect could have bought him and loaned him straight back while giving some of our youngsters on loan as well

Should also look at setting up alliances with the likes of Crewe as they know how to bring through players for someone like Ashley who does not seem to want to spend money the youth route is the best option

when you look at the backroom staff or coaches we have a small system for training

    we have for first team

    1 assistant manager
    2 first team coaches
    1 first team GK coach
    1 new fitness woman coach

not really impressive considering other teams have a good amount of coaches compare to us

Maybe Kinnear’s reached the end of the road and gone back from whence he came?

Or, maybe not and he’s realised there’s nowt he can say that’ll explain his inept performance?

That’s wishful thinking as the useless lump of lard will have bullshit Ashley that he was acting in the best interest of the club!

Leave it out now ED. Who gives a flying f@ck about the players we missed out on. We all knew deep down there weren’t any players coming in. We did our shopping in jan. Got a striker on loan which was coming in jan anyway. Let’s move on. See what happens in few months.

This blog becoming so depressing. Face it we are not a top eight club anymore 🙁

Jonas and shiote will be back in again once fit. Grrrr

iv’e heard from ppl on this site for years saying that MA is a very good businessmen i would love to know how he’s so good since he hasn’t really made massive profits from Newcastle.

if he was really good then why isn’t he thinking a business way of thinking, every 1 knows you got to spend money to make money and also the further Newcastle goes up the more money NUFC will receive, and then reaching the champions league bringing in more money and massive sponsor deals compare to our shite 6 million a year deal

    it’s simple

if MA invested 20-30 million into this transfer window he could of tripled his profits by the end of this season or even more if we hit CL spot.

businessmen my ass, more like a tyrant or slave trader.

Your comment at 22 is spot on, although we would need to spend more or be very lucky to achieve CL. 20-30m should have seen us comfortably 6th or 7th though, maybe even 5th if they performed brilliantly.

Also speculating he is not a good businessman because he isn’t making huge profits is flawed too. Nobody knows what his objectives are, for all we know it could just be a hobbie, something to take his mind off of his business…

Wasn’t totally sure what you were referring too since you were talking about both in the comment.
With Newcastle your probably right, we do need to spend money to move forwards currently.
But could we have sold Cabaye earlier in the window for say 14m and bought two new offensive players in? That could have pushed us forwards, maybe not as quickly as spending millions upon millions on new players though.
I think our main problem is a lot of our investment is misguided. Our fortunes would probably change dramatically if their was some investment in the coaching side of things. Increased revenue from player sales can be used to cancel this out.
Problem is, to be a club that moves forwards without spending big you essentially have to be a selling club.

We are simply trying to increase awareness for businesses located in this great region of ours to encourage people to spend locally rather than at national companies, keeping money within the region.

Anyway, our current squad is not too bad if they are not injured…….hopefully

Would of been more upset if we had wasted money on this guy.
Look are squad aint bad all we needed was a winger and maybe a CB put without europe I think we are quite strong. Are team just needs to click and thats on pardew. I dont care if Asshley is a greedy pie but I think we’ll see what we have and line up for january if arfa gets hurt

Strikers: Cisse, Remy, GOufran, Shola BETTER THAN MOST
CM: cabeye, anita, tiote, sissoko VERY GOOD
Winger: Ben arfa, jonas, marv, STRUGGLING
CB col, yanga, taylor, willo NOT BAD
FB: dubuch, santon, dummet, haidara WORKS WITH YANGA AND ANITA plus santon can play RB
GK: krull, elliott BETTER THAN MOST

    ruddy, ur site is alright

probably better than this one at least. ed just spits the same articles day in day out replacing one name for another. his articles are extremely repetitive and very predictably written

    “newcastle must do this…”
“it has been reported that newcastle”
    “if alan pardew wants to…”

very boring passive aggressive statements in articles. never offers anything new whatsoever and just regurgitates the same lines with different nouns substituted in. leads to me always skipping the articles. clearly just in it for the money. doesnt put any real effort into this place anymore, whips something up in 2 mins and posts it.

never credits his sources either and never links to the article his post is copying from

The january window got everyones hopes up ( mine included) that fat ash had seen the light after being made to look a mug by q.p.r. u sign one we sign 5 in 5 days. at that point i was willing to swallow my hatred for ash. i thought his pride was hurt and he now had a point to prove. never to us but to the chaps he rubs shoulders with. maybe an offer for the club has came in or atleast enough of an intrest to stir a deeper emotion in him MONEY! what ever happens we have a good 11 and decent squad for what we will have to do this season. my head says mid table but my heart says top 8 and finaly a cup. u never know we could win the league. TOON TOON
