It’s been reported that Newcastle tried to bring 25 year-old French International midfielder Etienne Capoue to Tyneside, but we didn’t get him and we suppose we were not willing to pay the price that finally got him to Tottenham for €11M (£9.4M).
Etienne Capoue – another Newcastle target
In July, Capoue’s club Toulouse accepted a £9.4M bid from Premier League newcomers Cardiff City, but as in the case of Tom Ince of Blackpool, an agreement could not be reached and Capoue did not join the Welsh side.
And then in mid August the 7 times capped Internatioanl completed a £9.4M transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.
So our question is if Newcastle really wanted this player, where were we when both Cardiff City and Tottenham agreed the transfer fee with Toulouse.
Of course it could be that Newcastle were only interested in signing the 7 times capped Frenchman if Yohan Cabaye had left Newcastle for Arsenal.
But if Newcastle are going to build a good side for the future, we must beat smaller and lesser known clubs like Cardiff City to our top targets.
Mike Ashley must also become more aggressive and more ambitious for Newcastle, and he also has to be willing to spend the money, when we are going after top players.

Visited your new site, congratulations! The more the merrier I say. Well laid out, well written articles, as your posts were here. In fact, something tells me you’ll be back, many a great poster have threatened to leave and returned 🙂
If I may give a piece of advice: vitriolic attacks, irony and insulting anyone’s intelligence (even if it’s obvious that he is xxxxxd) is totally unnecessary and unproductive. It only results in enmity. Football is about different opinions and banter, but there should always be a way back. And I’m not sure that is a scenario for Cabs 😉

Despite the blog being dead this morning pardew has called Gouffran the new Peter lovenkrans I disagree with this because I think Gouffran is a better forward however he needs to work on finishing after his awful header against Fulham oh nd his miss of the season

It’s funny you said that as I had been thinking that too.
All this angst is deja vu all over again. No doubt the next owner, should there ever be one, will receive the same tirade of abuse for even the most minor misdemeanor.
Why would anybody buy the club when all they are going to receive is verbal abuse and threats against them and their family?

Comment #52I was just going through Joey Barton’s website. He ended his note on Newcastle by saying “To this day, I look back on my time at Newcastle with great pride and emotion. I loved playing in front of all those Geordies and I’ll always have a soft spot for the black and white stripes.”
You may buy the best piece of fabric but it takes a thread to hold it’s stitches together….I don’t see that tight stitch in our fine french fabric these days. And I miss Barton and Nolan, sometimes.

I agree but as you have probably guessed that many fans only want to vent their unmanageable emotional excesses.
With regard to your post I thought Debuchy had his best game so far against Fulham. He looked like a French international. I also thought Remy was very promising and I can see him starting against Villa. I also see Cabaye starting as well.

lovenkrans had his moments but they were to few to mention. I do think we will see the best of goofy when he is played outside left forward aslong as hba is drawing them in on the other side.
He seems a decent grafter with a good run on him just hope he gets more service. andy cole missed a truck load but he always got there to miss lol 😉

Basically says that info from the meeting will be released after consulting with the authorities. Overwhelming theme was that we needed to be united

Comment #63If signing no players for the next years means Cashley can pay most of his debt back and sell the club I’m all there! In fact I wish we sold cabaye and Ben arfa amongst others so we could get there quicker. This guy is a disease to our club.
