Newcastle Will Go After This Striker In January

With the new news today that the reason Newcastle didn’t bring Bafe Gomis to Newcastle was that once again we refused to meet the fee asked by his club Lyon, it’s almost certain Newcastle will be after Gomis again in January, when his transfer fee will have gone down, because his contract at that time will have only six months to run.

Bafe Gomis – will again be a target in January

But we need Gomis in the squad now, and why we continue to act like paupers in the transfer market is more than a little puzzling to Newcastle fans, especially when we are in good shape financially.

The club spent only around £13M in net this year – which is not much at all – given we’ll get an average of £30M more than last season from the Premier League.

Lots of the smaller clubs than Newcastle have already spent that money in the summer transfer window – but not Newcastle.

Newcastle would do well to try to negotiate a deal now with Lyon for  January,  and get the deal agreed to so Newcastle can bring in Bafe Gomis in early January.

That’s what happened last year after the circus over the summer of Newcastle refusing to meet Lille’s asking price for the French International right-back.

Did we ever mention that when you don’t learn from your mistakes history just  keeps repeating itself?

Newcastle are acting like paupers in the transfer market, and it’s about time it stopped.

I accept at unfortunately some of my council tax may be going to pay off debts due to earlier unforeseen circumstances, that’s just what it is. Sure MA needs to accept some blame for when we got relegated, as do KK, JFK, DL, DW, CH, AS and the players. It damaged the brand of the club and it would have hurt him in terms of marketing and reputation.

The club owes MA money, he’ll get it back one way or another. As long as he continues to just take back the loan money rather than paying himself a huge salary like his predecessors, I see this as only a good thing for NUFC.

Keep the faith in Big Joe and Mike Ashley to bring in 4 or 5 top players in January. Champions League two years later. Mike Ashley will stay until he has delivered on the Toon. He wants success for the club and we need to be patient.

your sensationalist headlines are a bit tedious, ed. nowhere does it say we’ll be back in for him. and if we are, that’s a shame. when a kid like kadlic goes to the bundesliga for peanuts and we fork out a stupid fee for an aging, average striker.

and i have to say it, all these calls of criticism ed, a bit late, no? i’m sure you realize you are a meaningful vehicle for fans to vent their thoughts. just my opinion, but you should be more responsible with it. people will still come to your blog because it’s a great place to interact….even without your grossly misleading headlines

I would expect Ashley to come out with loan details and his plan to recover the debt – Number of yrs , method of working etc

We need to hear it from he horses mouth.
Else its Fact vs Judgement vs Inference

So you think it’s ok for Mike Ashley to help himself to money to pay back the loan he give the club and it’s ok for him not to put any money back into the club?

Let’s not forget that the club owes him this money becuase of his own mistake. He didn’t see the debt, he didn’t do his homework and now we are suffering for his own error.

Regardless, it his up to him whether or not he takes money out of the club. I myself couldn’t give 2 sh*ts if he took out £20 million year after year as long as he was putting money back to help this club progress.

The fact is he is not doing that. Surely you aren’t blind enough not to notice what Ashley is doing.

Each season he will invest the bare minimum and take back the biggest amount he possibly can without risking (in his view) premier league football.

How else would he input £0 into the team this Summer and plan to take £18 million before the end of the tax year?!

Fans should stop (where possible) putting money into the club unless that money will contributes into the strengthening of NUFC, not Mike Ashleys wealth and value.

If we suddeny stopped investing money and Ashley had to start inputting his own money then he’d soon act.

His plan is to make NUFC ‘self sustainable’ so that we pay for everything and he takes the profits to pay back the loan. If there isn’t enough money left over for transfers he doesn’t care. He will still rake back the maximum amount.

He’s reduced the wage bill, added the wage cap and cut costs all over because he literally doesnt want to invest anything and take everything back. That’s not the owner we want/deserve.

It seems to me, with the greatest of respect, you don’t get it. Your the type of fab that would celebrate a good profit margin and come onto this blog rubbing the financial statistics in all our faces as if you’d won the argument based on turnover.

You fail to realize that Mr Ashley is putting the club on a sound financial footing. He should achieve that within the next three years. I expect massive signings from 2016 onwards and great success for the club under his careful stewardship.

The sooner MA gets his loan money back the better. Yes we will continue to be very frugal in our transfers but if that means the club becomes a more attractive proposition to a new buyer the quicker we get rid if Ashley the better.
He bought our club not because he wanted to take us to the `top` so to speak but as a means of making more money for himself through free advertising of his retail business and the buy cheap sell on for profit like he does in business.
It would have been nice to have been told by him that very little was going to be spent in transfers as he was recouping the debt the club owe him but unfortunately I class MA as a bit of a coward by not saying this and so then getting rid of all transfer speculations we all went through.
Like last season money will be spent in January if we look to be in relegation trouble as a means of protecting his investment but if 17th position was offered I think he would definately take that.
So for the next few seasons expect much of the same.

Ashley will sell more players to met costs.

Although I would take a year or two in Championship to get rid of Ashley.

    Matty,
I spent 5 years on this blogg slagging off Ashley and got a lot of abuse from many “supporters” who sided with him but have suddenly disappeared in the last few months. Or they have suddenly changed their tune and are now in the massive anti Ashley camp. It is mischievous fun on my part to listen to people have the scales lifted from their eyes after donkeys years of only seeing the best in this bandit. One of the worst offenders has been the author of this blog. Keep the faith in the Toon and lets get the cancer out of the club!!! keep the faith. 50 years a Toon supporter. Not been for two years and will not go back til he has gone.
