Newcastle’s New Number One Target In January

The news broke on Saturday that Newcastle could be interested in 24 year-old Alfred Finnbogason,  who plays for Heerenveen in the Erevidisie, and he had an excellent season last term, and has already made a good start to this season.

Alfred Finnbogason – Newcastle’s new number one target?

And since the news broke a couple of days ago,  there have been additional reporting from the likes of the BBC and Sky Sports, which  report that Newcastle will be going after this forward in the January transfer window.

We have to believe that Newcastle will try to bring in maybe a couple of players in January,  and one of them must be a goalscorer.

What we don’t know is just  how accurate the latest reports are that say this lad has become our  top target in January.

However, if the news is accurate that Newcastle would not pay the wages wanted by Bafe Gomis, and he was asked to take a wage cut, there could be some truth in the reports.

Alfred has got off to a great start this season, scoring 6 goals in his first four appearances for Heerenveen, and the 6′ tall 24 year-old has been at Heerenveen for just  over twelve months,  and he’s on a three year deal.

in 150 first team appearances he has scored 90 goals,  but the standard of the leagues he is playing in is not the English Premier League.

There are a few other clubs said to also be interested in the Icelandic International, such as Sunderland,  and he was offered to Newcastle for £5M over the summer – but we  didn’t take up the offer.

But he is cheaper than Bafe Gomis and will be on much lower wages, and since that’s the way Newcastle think these days, the news on him being our new number one target could even be true.

What do you think?

The journals story is that we are scouting him and its just steemrolled….so he is hardly the number one target.

Im sure thats many players we are scouting… All of which im sure we would decide are good enough, bid too low and move on to scouting others.

Have seen his name linked for about 7 – 10 days. He obviously has talent – but since when did that mean much? The fact he is cheap is what will make NUFC take notice – if anything does!!

If he is only 5m and we were desperate for a striker in the window just gone then why did we not grab him? Doesnt make sense.

Face it we are going to be linked with a hell of a lot of players between now and jan. lets just hope we can get a few “over the line” but if we are sitting pretty we will just wait to sign free transfers in the summer. Ashley isnt a football fan but if he saves 5-10 mill on transfers its like winning a trophy to him.

With our transfer policy Ashley will ask Finnbogason to pay part of the transfer and Stoke would probably end up signing him

One can only assume that our renowned Director of Football was out of the country putting the final touches to the arrangements for the G20 summit.

And folk have the audacity to criticise him, disgraceful!

If he is the target & j.f.k. is aiming the weapon he is quite sure of an extended future anywhere but Newcastle

Alfreð Finnbogason was offered to us for 5m euros not Pounds.
He would be a great striker for us

If he’s our number one target, great thats the first one to dismiss. Find out who target number 2,3,4,5 and 6 are then we can start getting excited about signing the 7th in line as then we’ll be shopping in the conference and might be able to afford the wages.

Seriously??? Are we discussing transfer targets again???

Sell up Ashley you utter disgraceful, greedy, excuse for a human being. How dare you use our club as your little money making venture.
