West Ham paid a massive £15M to sign Andy Carroll from Liverpool in the summer, and the reports were that Carroll even got a wage increase to go to London, and is being paid £100K/week by the London side.
Andy Carroll – could be out another four months
Andy was injured in the last game of the Premier League season, when he had a heel injury, and the Geordie lad didn’t make the start of the season.
Andy had returned to training, but the Hammers are now waiting for scans on a new foot injury he suffered in training yesterday.
A West Ham statement said the following:
“Although it is in the same part of his foot as his previous injury, it is a new injury.” “West Ham United can confirm Andy Carroll suffered an injury to his right foot during his return to full training.”
“There will be no prognosis until he has seen a specialist.”
And as a precaution West Ham this afternoon confirmed the signing of former Fulham and Croation striker Mladen Petric, who was a free agent.
And we assume Newcastle had decided not to sign this striker – following the news yesterday we are looking at the free agent market, because of our failure to sign another striker this summer.
It’s a lot of money to pay for a player like big Andy, who seems to be injury prone.
And Carroll is on a six year deal, but the player himself must be in some distress, as we’re quite sure the only thing Andy wants to do is to play and earn his wages at West Ham.
