Newcastle Fans Boo Di Canio – Paolo Blows Kisses – Video

Here is a short video of the players coming onto the pitch last night for Steve Harper’s  testimonial match, and the reception Newcastle fans gave Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio, as the boos were met by Paolo blowing kisses to the crowd. 😀

    Fair play to Di Canio
He knew the score last night and he enjoyed every minute of it, even when Barton wiped him out he was grinning!

Ok then, a quick little re-post…

Sounds like it was a great night, gutted there wasn’t another way to see it.

Who would have thought that Harper, in his departure of the club, could trump his own professional attitude and love for the club during his past 20 years?

That interview and then the organisation behind the testimonial itself could well be what the man is remembered for.

Served the truth to Ashley with dignity, pride and a whole lot of spirit. Three things which have been sorely missing under Ashleys ownership, no matter what side of the argument you sit, whether you think he’s done well with the books, saved us from oblivion (not saying he did or opening the debate….stick with me here…), whatever, that is the core of Newcastle United and unless there is a way to get the balance back, to get the fans back properly involved in the team then it really is dying.

Something good has to come from this mess. It just means too much to too many people, as was on show last night.

Well said Ibiza spot on mate
We’ve had owners in the past who haven’t invested as much, or had the club far less financially stable etc ………… But never have we had an owner who has seemingly ripped the soul out of the club, until Ashley

If anyone still can’t see this after last night they need there heads checking

Di canio was good last night, took the banter from crowd, played a good game and had a laugh with our joey.

By all accounts, he did a top job last night, so fair play to Di Canio.

He’s still a dirty scum, but fair play 🙂

Did Harper turn down the chance to take his pen again?

Sunderland manager or not, PDC was a great player and walked into last night knowing he was gonna get blasted every second he was on the pitch and still came willingly for Harper, so credit to the man

Not sure how he has managed to grind the fans down to such an extent. Splitting up certain ticket holders certainly helped though.

I don’t even demand more money from ashley, just to spend what we do better and not lie to us. Don’t have JFK bleating on about getting champs league players if he doesn’t intend to back it up.

tads…That’s the upshot for me. We can argue the minutiae of Ashleys ownership until the end of time and that is all well and good, but the balance of the relationship between fans and club is being abused…for whatever reason.

That is my number 1 issue. How can we be in a situation where those fans that were there last night, most likely the same fans who have been attending for years and years, feel so disconnected from the club?

If his intentions are good then there is no need for this barrier he has put up.

There has to be a better way.

SBR…It certainly looked that way. Don’t think there was anything legally wrong with the penalty…was the ref just being nice? 🙂

The fans are simply seen as paying customers to Ashley, plain and simple. He has no connection to the club, the City or the people other than a financial investment so any relationship is as business owner and customer…………tradition, history, community all Ashley would hear is blah, blah blah

JB…It’s madness. I think most can accept Ashley for what he is and could even live knowing he was gaining from the venture. Why not appoint someone who can connect with the fans though and in turn help the fans connect with the club?

I know the answer really, just venting 🙂

Give us some middle ground Ashley or watch the impending collision that has to come.

SBR…Top bloke. From the look of it, I think he’d have struggled to hit another one. Must have been an emotional night for the bloke. Loved what you were saying about him trying to get the fans to stop the chanting and that you just got louder 🙂

Completely lads, it’s not just the money, which some pro Ashley seem to think is the only issue
    It’s not
It’s the lies the deceit the treatment of the fans
    It’s disgusting
If he has nothing but good intentions them why the constant smoke screens

tads…We’ll see what happens from here. In defense of those who still come across as pro-Ashley, I think it’s more at the point where they fear what will come next.

I think they would all happily accept a change and improvement, but they just don’t see it happening.

What was annoying last night over a thousand people were turned away and there was over 1000 empty seats, over £10,000 lost to the likes of cancer research, it would be ironic if Ashley got it one day. but anyone who did not go can still donate £10 to the Bobby Robson trust or even £1 one day someone will give the £1 that cures cancer. unfortunately most of us now someone that’s been struck down by this awful disease.
