Good to see Aston Villa Playing ‘Hoofball’ – because we pressed them high up the part and forced them to kick it long.

The big thing for backing Pardew fully is if he still picks this same starting 11 when jonas and Tiote are fully fit again.

If he does then cant complain, but if either of them come in for anita or whoever then Iv had enough.

This starting 11 is spot on, with the possible exception personally of gouffran LW and Remy CF and drop Cisse, but thats just my own opinion.

After all our problems with Ashley, Kinnear and our lack of transfers Sunderland are still in our shadow .

Gouffran did really well and not just because he scored.

Agree with JDdubai that Gouff could be threatening Cisse’s place.

I’d personally would love to see a front three of HBA, Remy and Gouffran where all three of them are interchanging positions so we have a versatile forward line, just as Liverpool demonstrate when they play 4-3-3

Tiote was not bad at all today.

But I thought Pardew got it spot on today with his team selection as well as the substitutions

15 odd signings and they look weaker for it! lol lol lol

I’m more impressed them being bottom than us getting an away win at a decent side, well not really but it makes for a great day all the same!!!

Best game I have seen Gouffron play for us yet. If it wasn’t for HBA’s performance, he would have been my man of the match. Good 3 points today. Made all the nicer by the mackems propping the table up again. What a marvelous job as manager Paulo Di Canny Oh is doing.

Tiote showed how exactly he should be used.

The last 15 minutes when we’re winning to come on and close out a win.

This is the team a lot of people have been saying for months to play. Pardew isn’t a revelation, no, he’s picked an obvious side forced upon him whilst his favourites have come back from injury. Had Guti and Tiote not had time out, they would have been in.

Months of choosing poorly doesn’t get fixed after a decent first half performance against another of last years relegation fodder. Another dozen plus games like the first half and it will have been an improvement. Until then, my feet are still firmly on ground.

Ben Arfa is a magic man.

I would tell Cisse he has a couple of games to find the back of the net and find his previous form, if not Gouffran takes his spot .

I just hope Pardew has found some balls and will start dropping players that don’t perform, and won’t let players like Tiote & Jonas back in the team .

    @ Gazza

I doubt it m8 although I would love him here 🙂 . I read a stat saying in 2013 he has scored 18 PL goals, 3 more than any other player .

On another note, pleased I transferred Ozil & Giroud in to my dream team 😉

Well said. I too was very impressed with the first half team display, rather disappointed by the team’s performance in the second half, but HBA was on hand to save our bacon and win it for us.

Injuries or suspensions will inevitably take its toll on our threadbare squad this season and more than likely we will see us revert back to a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-4-2 at some stage in the season.

I’m not so sure that Jonas or Tiote will slot straight in, Pardew seems to be hinting that he would like to play this way for the foreseeable so it is a matter of seeing whether he has the cojones to do just that with a fully fit squad to choose from.

Cisse needs dropped. Put Remy through the middle and Goffy on the left (or vice versa).

The problem is that bringing Tiote on last 15 to close a win is exactly what most people on here object to tactically – sitting on a one goal lead instead of going for the killer two goal lead.

If we can play a quick counterattacking game then I’d probably agree with you, but parking the bus is a big thing with a lot of Toon fans as it’s high risk and Manure’s success was mostly down to always going for the two goal lead before sitting back imo

That’s the best game I’ve seen HBA play and boy did he play well! 🙂 I love him! What a player we have! The whole team played well and we looked solid throughout the match apart from that counter when Abognlahor missed with the goal gaping, that could have cost us dearly.

Well done lads and very well done Pardew for growing a pair in this team selection.

I believe Pardew’s always wanted to play a 4-3-3 but we lacked that LW player capable to play like this. Ba always was better playing centrally and Cisse the same. Gutierrez is not an attacking winger, he’s more like a CDM. Now with Remy we look a real threat going forwards and we can play 4-3-3 or change it round to 4-4-2 whatever Pardew wants. Before we didn’t have that luxury. If the players stay fit and keep some consistency we will have a marvelous season.

I’d tend to agree with you. Bringing on Tiote when you’re 2 goals to the good is a decent tactic. I can see Pardew’s logic in doing it though, after all, we only got 2 away wins in the whole of last season. Now we’ve got 1 after 4 games. Hopefully if we can keep this team fit we can see Pardew grow in confidence a little bit as well.

Great win today and some easy games to come the table could be looking good in a few weeks,
    Bills,
Don’t go throwing mud after a couple of wins there’s a long season ahead, I’ve always said hats off when we’ve done well yet you keep moving the goal posts when we’ve been sh@t on, if the 19 or 30M depending on which angle you waan’t to believe had of been spent last year we could have started last season with a team not far off of this one and all this animosity wouldn’t have surfaced.

Cabaye looked happy again which is good, also applauded off after giving a determined performance.
The team generally had shape and purpose and where buying into the tactical approach, this is a very positive sign for the rest of the season and also faith from players in its development.
We definitely have some top class players and its nice to see Tiote having to fight for a place in the team. Also very encouraging to see Sammy Amiobi given a spell on the pitch while we were incontrol of the game.
Pleasantly surprised and relieved to have witnessed this today.

Loved how Pardew set up the team today. Fingers crossed Jonas doesn’t walk back in and Tiote realises he has some competition for his place in Anita and Sissoko. If we continue in this vein and are lucky with injuries theres no reason not to be optimistic.

    Howay the lads!! 😀
