Pardew Hints At Starting Line Up For Today

10:28 am, Saturday, September 14th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 25 Comments

Alan Pardew last night hinted that both Loic Remy and Yohan Cabaye could make the starting line-up today, and if that’s true we could have as many as six Frenchmen in the line-up at Villa Park this afternoon.

Loic Remy – in training this week – first start today?

Alan Pardew has been upbeat over the last two days, following the inspiring charity game on Wednesday night, when we saw some of Newcastle’s all time greats return to St. James’ Park, and it brought back some great memories for Newcastle fans.

This is what Alan told the local press:

“There is a good chance Yohan and Remy will start. That’s all I can say.” “I think Remy has got enough in the tank to be considered for a start. Whether he can produce the best performance he could possibly do in that first game, I doubt.”

“But at some stage he needs to be pitched in. The one thing I would say is that he’s impressed in training. Not just the manager, but the players and the coaching staff, and his manner around the place.”

“We’ve got Papiss Cisse, Shola Ameobi, Yoan Gouffran to complement him and hopefully they will all stay fit.

“That is probably the one fault that you would say against us in this window, that one more offensive player would have just protected us a little bit, which unfortunately we didn’t secure.”

“I haven’t really needed to speak to Yohan, if I’m honest. I can just see how he is by his demeanor and how he’s been, which is spot on.”    “I was pleased the French manager didn’t pick him because that’s worked out for him really well. He definitely needed some work.”

“To have him, Papiss, Hatem. Remy, Gouff and Marveaux training here has been great for our offensive play, because we needed to do some work on that.”

So if we assume Remy and Cabaye both play today and every player in the first team squad is now fit,  this could be the starting eleven and the bench for today’s game.

Debuchy Yanga-Mbiwa Coloccini Santon
Ben Arfa Sissoko Cabaye  Gutierrez
Remy Cisse
Subs: Elliot Taylor (S) Anita Tiote Ameobi (Sh) Marveaux Gouffran

That would mean no place on the bench for players like Sammy Ameobi, Mike Williamson, Dan Gosling,  Gabby Obertan, Paul Dummett, Gael Bigirimana and Haris Vuckic.

What would your team be for today?

if anita is not in the team and jonas/tiote is i will not be impressed. Anita deserves his place and those two have underperformed so shouldn’t walk back in

I can understand shola starting as he started in the win over fulham (although he didn’t do much he was part of that winning side)…but still rather he didn’t.

Would put Marv rather than GUti and Gouffy rather Cissé.

can’t see Remy starting. Not Pardew’s style.

    AP dude,
    leave the statements to… (Joe?!)

By namedropping you are maybe alienating some players, unless you choose to name them all. You mention just 3 players as potential new legends in the form of Ginola et al: Cabaye (wants out, is stuck here), HBA (ok) and Remy (a QPR player!). So, that’s it huh.

Then, here, you say that you Remy can perform to his best. Thanks for preparing us.

    Please, not a drab 0-0 🙁

‘Remy can perform to his best’ –

‘Remy can’t perform to his best’

    my team for today

    debuchy, colo, mbiwa, santon
    anita, sissoko, cabaye
    hba, cisse, remy

I think that’s what 99% of us would like to see

  • 8 Spuggy // Sep 14, 2013 at 10:45 AM

3 in midfiels – Anita holding, sissoko and Cabaye making surging runs. Remy on left, HBA on right, Cisse middle. The rest pick themselves.

If marv plays or is subbed he replaces Anita but in 10 role with Cabaye and sissoko run CM.

I want Anita to start but will pards revert back to tiote and guti??

I think we need to define a passing/holding style with Anita. He’s exceptional at quick passing and awareness. Player to hold onto the ball the least. Finds a player within seconds.

    my prediction 2-1 each way

  • 13 Black and White with an army lol // Sep 14, 2013 at 10:48 AM

no mate he will play 7 CDM’s with Remy & HBA sitting deep 😉

  • 14 cyprus // Sep 14, 2013 at 10:52 AM

fine, only Cabs doesn’t do surging runs. Not being vindictive here (really – ok, just a little) but for me Gouff and Marv ahead of him. Last 15 minutes he can have, show where his heart is.

“Papiss Cisse to compliment him.”Bloody ell, the others maybe, but isn’t Remy surely here on loan to compliment Cisse. Seems a bit of a slight to the main man, as do the “we’ve missed Demba Ba to lead the line” stuff too Pards, just quietly.

Villa will play an attacking 4-2-3-1, so we need to do the same or utilize a 4-3-1-2 to counter every move.

if AP persisted in using a 4-4-2 with strolla upfront fear for the worse,

    Debuchy, Colo, MYM, Santon
    Cabaye, Anita
    HBA, Sissoko, Remy

    Debuchy, Colo, MYM, Santon
    Anita, Cabaye, Sissoko
    Cisse, Remy

these lineups would get us results and goals we’ve been craving for

  • 18 Blofal // Sep 14, 2013 at 10:54 AM

If guti or tiote start I will be furious. Guti needs to earn his place and no way should he walk into a team over Marveaux and Anita. Same goes for Tiote.

  • 19 Magickit // Sep 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM

My team suggestion for Pardew tonite 5-5-0

    1.Solid mid n def
    2. Mbiwa n Colo can cover fullback
    3. Sissoko n Jonas can always tracking back.
    4. Anita always covered either side of fullback in def counter.
    5. Tiote n Cabaye sitting deep

I cant imagine we ll concede a goal with this formation n players.
Worth a try n we may steal a goal from CORNER! Pardew , u hear?? XD

  • 20 wynsleap // Sep 14, 2013 at 11:32 AM

    Anita instead of Jonas Ed.
We also need a full back on the bench. Dummett to replace Shola. Only need Gouffran as striker replacement if either Remy or Cisse is taken off.

I’m glad people have realised that Anita is actually better than cabaye , Hes faster moves the ball quicker fitter more skillfull etc …There is nothing cabaye can do that Anita can’t if I’m wrong please tell me what cabaye offers that Anita doesent ? And another thing cabaye is Not a f****g number 10 ! Modric is a number 10 marvs is a number 10 cabaye is a pirlo type player that sits deep and distributes !

  • 22 bishopblaize // Sep 14, 2013 at 11:54 AM

Villa will be in Full Attack today!
Same as Man City counters we had no way of being offensive and we on only hope getting behind guys BIGI TIME.
All the Players know what its like to Beat the Aston as it was the French Connections 1st Premiership Game and Massive win back in Jan ..
After that match was Villa’s turning point and for Lambert to see a struggling Team like the Toon with a few guys having completed the Calais Dover Transfer and embarrass a Prem Proven Team has seen the Midlands Team attack everything in front of them Differently with Good Effect (sad to say)
This will be a Massive Win that will need a lotta energy, determination & precise skill.
    HwTl 🙂

Ed’s just trolling putting jonas in there 🙂
Jamsha really 10 players in an away match?
I think it’ll be hard enough as it is 😉
