We watched the Manchester derby this afternoon, and that first half looked almost exactly like the first game of the season when City were all over Newcastle, but this time City were all over the champions Manchester United.
Alan Pardew – must make good recovery from very poor result
At half time it was 2-0, as in the Newcastle game, and after 86 minutes it was 4-0, but Wayne Rooney scored a great goal from a free kick late in the game to make it 4-1 – but Manchester United didn’t play the second half with 10 men like Newcastle did.
So when Manchester City are at their best which they were against Newcastle and the Red Devils today, they are a formidable side.
After that terrible defeat on that first game of the season, Newcastle drew one and won two of their next three league games, and beat Morecambe in the Capital One Cup.
And then came a very poor defensive display yesterday, and we lost 3-2 to Hull at home, and it was a very poor result for Newcastle – a shocking result
But as we’ve seen this season, even the top teams have had their off days, and now it’s up to Newcastle to learn from what happened yesterday, and come storming back and try to get a win on Wednesday night in the Capital One Cup against Leeds United.
Our next two league game are at Everton a week tomorrow nigh, and at Cardiff City on the following Saturday.
Those are two tough games before the International break, and we hope we can get something out of both those games.
But good teams do come back following adversity – so we’ll get a chance to see if Newcastle are indeed a good side this season.
