Newcastle Have Concerns About Top Midfielder

As we mentioned yesterday, Yohan Cabaye has had a number of groin injuries since he arrived at Newcastle just over two years ago from Lille, and then in November of last year the Frenchman had a double operation on his groin,  and it was hoped that would finally clear up the problem.

Yohan Cabaye – concerns about groin injury

But Yohan had to come off on Saturday afternoon against Hull City in the second half, and it’s another groin injury he has picked up, which is currently being assessed by the Newcastle medics, but the Frenchman will not play tomorrow night against Leeds United in the Capital  One Cup.

Alan Pardew is hoping there is no real damage to Yohan’s groin, and with Steven Taylor and Shola Ameobi out for another three weeks with a hamstring injury and a knock respectively.

But the good news is that both Jonas Gutierrez and Massadio Haidara are on their way back from their injuries, but we wouldn’t expect either of them to feature tomorrow night.

If Yohan does become unavailable for next Monday night’s tough league game at Everton, he could be replaced by Dan Gosling, who showed up well in pre-season, and would jump at the chance of a first team start.

tiote would come in first. then jonas. then marveaux. then we’d convert to 4-4-2 and start gouffran. then shola. then ben arfa would drop central and sammy would come in. then after that gosling or vuckic will start

Ed – I would be surprised if Cabaye was replaced by Gosling – more likely Pardew will go defensive and play Anita & Tiote away at Everton.

Beginning to think that Cabaye is more bother than he’s worth.
Should have sold him for a decent price when we had the chance.

    Jeff,
You obviously have too much time on your hands. Why not put that to good use and come up with comments that may inspire or generate genuine discussion, rather than spouting your negativity?
If you don’t like Ed’s articles you don’t have to read them you know, I’m sure you’d be welcomed elsewhere.

It’s kind of ironic that you bemoan a lack of quality considering what you write yourself.
