Papiss Cisse scored his first goal in 11 appearances for Newcastle last night, and after missing a chance early on in the game he was set up brilliantly by Sammy Ameobi after 31 minutes, and the Senegal striker headed home in style.
Papiss Cisse – after scoring first goal of the season last night
One reason we think Alan Pardew started Cisse in the game last night, was that so he could break his duck for the season, and the manager thinks it will only do Papiss good, that he finally got on the scoring trail:
“The goals can settle a player down and hopefully it will. He’s not been as powerful as he should have been.” “I think all strikers when they’re not scoring feel like they haven’t done their job.”
“He’s always disappointed if he hasn’t scored and that was an important goal. How important, we’ll have to wait and see.” “They were two fantastic goal, both made by Sammy Ameobi”. ” Gouff’s goal was as good as I have seen at that end.”
“It was a great game and I was very impressed with both sets of supporters. “
We’ll see if Cisse can push on from here, and no doubt Alan is hoping Papiss can do that – but it’s not certain of course.
It would be good if the 28 year-old can also get among the goals next Monday night at Everton, and certainly Alan Pardew will now have some selection posers for that game.
The Leeds United supporters did their club proud last night, and they sang their heads off all game, and it seemed a great atmosphere at St. James’ Park.
Leeds United are currently 11th in the Championship this season, but they belong in the Premier League, and the sooner they can make the jump to the top tier in English football the better.

Comment #161By the way…I did agree with JfA on one point…I do find it very dull when people just post their predicted teams with the only aim seeming to be to brag if they predict it right. Same thing goes for scorelines.
I find it dull, but each to their own.

I don’t pardew speaking his mind but saying he wants 3 players in a summer is never going to happen..might as well say the three he wants are ronaldo, messi and suarez (bit over the top but get the general idea).
I think those guys you mentioned are proper fans, bit unfair to say they aren’t. They are very passionate about the club, whether you think its right or wrong they do care about the club…as do you and others who don’t consider things as big a problem as those.
As for organic development, it works but when starting a farm you need the initial outlay for seeds, land, equipment etc….i think sometimes we need to put a little more in upfront to get some gaines. Not go with casino signings (huge gambles) but a few more.

Comment #163It would be quite unsurprising if we lost every single match in October. Even Sunderland will be a difficult game if I know anything about Gus Poyet. I shall watch carefully how promptly our interest in cup competitions is ditched in that event. Once we start losing, Pardew’s teams tend to keep losing. I like Pardew, but he is the managerial equivalent of a confidence player. Kinnear’s first major signing will be a new manager, I tend to think, and it will be well before the January window.

Comment #164I think many fans can pinpoint the negatives within the club. Many fans are probably annoyed, maybe even livid with Ashley’s ownership. Some fans may even not dislike Ashley but are of the mindset that he is not the man to take us forward and therefore change should be implemented.
The one thing that I would say to these people is that they should perhaps try and get involved with ways and means to do that. By now we should have heard of various different avenues in which that can be pursued, so instead of sitting and doing nothing, do your bit for your club.
Positively promote change, go into the stadium and roar the team to victory, be the best, more pro-active fan you can be for the betterment of your club.

Comment #166I don’t think we play much hoofball, what we struggle to do is link the short passes we attempt together to creat good team goals, too often it’s an individual striker or slice of luck.
I was impressed with dummet and sammy linking last night, was very good. Dummet showed the international fullbacks we have that you can defend and attack without being hugely exposed.

I think he said he wanted 2 or 3 this summer? I’m assuming that was a strong striker, a pacey striker (Remy) and hopefully one other. We weren’t actually that far away…

Comment #169I’m going to keep commenting the same sort of thing on these forums and hope the ‘fans’ are listening. Went to hull game on Saturday, support from us home fans was appalling, easily drowned out by hull fans, and an abundance of negative comments. Now I’ve been reading, as I didn’t go (4 hours drive away), that home fans were drowned out again last night by the Leeds fans. COME ON NEWCASTLE FANS, STOP WHINGING AND START BACKING THE TEAM!!!
