Yoan Gouffran is a good player who was a signed for around £2M in January, and he scored Newcastle’s second goal in the 2-0 win at home to Leeds United last night in the Capital One Cup.
Yoan Gouffran – played well last night
Yoan was a regular starter last season, but he has been on the bench most of the time so far this season, but that hasn’t stopped him from scoring two good goals for Newcastle, and he has looked good again this term.
This is what the 27 year-old former French U21 International had to say today:
“We want to get out there and try to win some silverware,” “That’s what we’ll do – we want to get as far as we can.” “I’m very happy – it was a nice goal to score.”
“It was my first home goal at St James’s Park, so I’m really chuffed. It was an important goal.” “That’s why I’m here – I came to play,” “Last season I started every match.”
“This season it’s been a bit more difficult, but I’m not giving up.” “I will go out and give 100%.”
Yoan has so far played 22 times for Newcastle with 5 goals, and when younger he played 22 times for the France U21 side, and if he can get back to starting for this Newcastle side, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that he could even be called up for the full France squad.
But fist things first, and the former Caen and Bordeaux player wants to get a starting place again for Newcastle United, and given what Yoan has looked like this season – we wouldn’t put it past him.
