Magpie Target – Newcastle Are A Great Club – Have A Great Stadium

7:34 pm, Friday, September 27th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 45 Comments

There is a report in Holland  that Heerenveen’s 24 year-old Icelandic striker Alfred Finnbogason has said he would definitely be interested in a move to Newcastle United.

Alfred Finnbogason 88Alfred Finnbogason – keen on Newcastle

Newcastle were first linked with Finnbogason earlier this month, when it was revealed he was offered to Newcastle for around £5M, but the Tyneside club did not take up the offer.

Finnbogason has said Newcastle tried to take him on loan in the summer, but it wasn’t an option, but he seems keen to sign on at Newcastle – this is what he told Icelandic football website 433.is:

“I heard Newcastle made a loan bid for me at the end of the transfer window, but it was not an option for me to go out on loan.” “If they make another offer I will consider it.”

“Of course I would like to play for Newcastle United, St James´s Park is a great stadium and Newcastle are a great club in the English Premier League”

So not only is this lad a good player – but he also seems to be very intelligent. :D

The Iceland international scored  24 league goals for the Dutch club in his first season, and he has scored 11 goals in just seven games so far this season – not too bad at all.

The 6? tall 24 year-old signed on at Heerenveen from Lokeren last August, on a three-year deal, and that was after he had a successful loan spell at Swedish club Helsingborgs IF and scored 13 goals in 22 appearances for them.

And in 153 first team appearances he has scored 95 goals, so he knows where the back of the net is, but of course the standard of the league he is playing in is not the English Premier League.

It’s possible Newcastle may make a bid for him in January, but there are other clubs like Sunderland, Aston Villa and Everton were said to be interested in the forward over the summer.

What do you think?

Finnboggason, we are the best club, more potential at this club than anywhere in the universe, IF YOU REALLY WANT IT.

  • 2 Rooster // Sep 27, 2013 at 7:53 PM

should HAVE SAID IF THEY REALLY WANT IT, HOW MUCH TO YOU WANT TO GO TO YOUR RESTING PLACE WITH mike?!?!

Is this the same SD that reported we were after Rooney.

  • 4 Owldman // Sep 27, 2013 at 8:04 PM

Another story just blowing in the wind I expect more in the coming weeks, depends where we are in the league if we even bother

Ever heard of the concept of giving back Mike.

Tycoons often became more munificent as time passes, probably due to guilt.

Mike seems to be doing the exact opposite. Even so, he must have atleast some sort of emotionally detached sense of why so many fans fear and loathe him.

    The man frightens me.

The blog seemed to be ticking over quite nicely until the ranting veg man from the heed piped up telling people what they have to post, no wonder the posting time for prime time blogging is sometimes reaching 45-48 minutes.

Icelandic? Lucky to get mentioned in the same sentence as Newcastle, eff off.

  • 8 gunnarnufc // Sep 27, 2013 at 8:32 PM

Icelandic guy here.. I actually know Alferð’s best friend (who happens to be a NUFC fan) very well and he told me Alfreð is really interested in coming to Newcastle. Alfreð is neither strong nor fast but he has great positioning, composure and reads the game extremely well. His style of play is similar to Huntelaar, Makaay and Sheringham. None of these are particularly fast, technical or strong but all somehow tend to score a lot everywhere they go.

    Kilcline? What do you mean?

  • 10 WWSBRD // Sep 27, 2013 at 8:35 PM

lad knows where the goal is…bit of a p take if we tried to get him on loan

  • 11 Jail for Ashley // Sep 27, 2013 at 8:35 PM

    Gunnar,
He doesn’t want to let it be known that he wants to come here, it’s a sure fire way to be offered 10K a week less.

    WW…,
I’m going to Goodison on Monday and taking a Time4change banner with me.

  • 15 Jail for Ashley // Sep 27, 2013 at 8:48 PM

It’s definitely gathering momentum, I’ll get a good judge of peoples feelings on Monday night.

  • 16 WWSBRD // Sep 27, 2013 at 8:53 PM

I doubt itll come to much, Ashley will be too busy counting pennies to listen to fans but am not against it at all anything that will kill the apathy is welcome

  • 17 theartfuldodger // Sep 27, 2013 at 9:01 PM

We talk about Ashleys interest free loan, club income etc etc but everything is Ashleys responsibility. He is the CEO.
Relegation, low incomes are his responsibility. Everything is !!! You cant seperate out the two.
If his penny pinching gets us relegated, income will be less than 13m . So, is that clubs issue ? Nah
Right from clubs income,to clubs success,to buying players etc etc its all Ashley.

So as a CEO , I think he has failed miserably. If he was working for another owner, he would have been sent packing.

  • 18 theartfuldodger // Sep 27, 2013 at 9:03 PM

And looks like I went back to a subject we want to close for tonight ?

  • 19 Jail for Ashley // Sep 27, 2013 at 9:03 PM

    WW…,
The Blackburn embarrassment hasn’t helped and there’s still fans who remember the sack the board days and people running amok through Eldon square and the City centre, there’s no way he’s selling up, but we need to let it be known that there’s a lot of unhappy fans out there.

  • 20 Jail for Ashley // Sep 27, 2013 at 9:13 PM

    Artful dodger,
That’s the trouble though, has he failed, SD is worth 4.25B now and he is the 384th richest man in the world, while SD wipes out all it’s competitors we look like a club that is cheating to get on that top twenty rich list.

  • 21 Jail for Ashley // Sep 27, 2013 at 9:14 PM

    Arffuldodger,
Btw take no notice of the ranting veg man from the heed, I’ll slag Ashley all day long.

  • 22 chuck // Sep 27, 2013 at 9:20 PM

Ain’t gonna happen and you know it, so what’s the point, more hit’s ?

  • 23 archaeomag // Sep 27, 2013 at 9:22 PM

” Finnbogason ” – 11 letter name – ideal if you sell replica shirts by the letter . .

  • 24 theartfuldodger // Sep 27, 2013 at 9:28 PM

    JFA,
Everyone can judge Ashley the way they want.
I think he has failed. Im sure relegation wasnt one of his targets. Finishing 16th wasnt either.
If he was a ceo(or likewise) under another owner he would be fired for not meeting targets.

  • 25 low fell mag // Sep 27, 2013 at 9:31 PM

The post featured by the ED is a Newcastle target saying we are a great club and he would be intrested in joining Newcastle.
    WHY,what is the point.

  • 26 ToonArfa // Sep 27, 2013 at 9:34 PM

    Debuchy-mbiwa-colo-santon
    ————–tiote—–anita———-
    Benarfa——cabaye——-remy
    ——————–cisse—————–

Easily our most technically gifted team. We would bang 2 or 3 in before half time!!!

Id bring tiote on for either anita or sissoko. Depending on form.

Marvo and gouffran for one of the forwards.

Pardew better do this or summit very similar or otherwise im going sick!!!!

  • 27 ToonArfa // Sep 27, 2013 at 9:34 PM

I put tiote i meant sissoko in that team^^^^

  • 28 archaeomag // Sep 27, 2013 at 9:35 PM

    @lfm
    ” . . It’s a crap club and I am appalled to be linked with them . ”
Says Newcastle Target – now that would be a Story!

  • 29 Jail for Ashley // Sep 27, 2013 at 9:42 PM

    Artfuld,
I think he has failed the club and the fans massively and the only interest he has in us is ensuring we benefit his SD business which has undeniably been a huge success largely helped from the exposure a team of our stature via TV exposure has given him, with a section of fans thinking the interest free loans payment enough for this.

  • 30 ElliIceland // Sep 27, 2013 at 9:44 PM

We must sign this player. I have seen this lad since he was playing here in Iceland, and he is so talented. A great lad and he can´t stop score.

I’ve just watched worthing v palace under 21s, if anyone from Newcastle united scouting team read this, I recommend you take a look at a lad called Ryan Ellis, he’s a centre half, an absolute beast of a player. This lad looks the business. Palace won the game 3 nil but this lad is great in the air and pings some great forward balls

  • 32 Jail for Ashley // Sep 27, 2013 at 9:57 PM

    Scout,
Who do you work for ?

  • 33 scout // Sep 27, 2013 at 10:00 PM

I’m not actually a scout, I live in worthing and watched the game. I saw a scout from Arsenal at the game though.

  • 34 kilcline // Sep 27, 2013 at 10:08 PM

Iceland can suck my left ballbag.

  • 35 fatman // Sep 27, 2013 at 10:11 PM

Ashley’s the type of person, that if he crashed his car into your house he would bill you for the damage, he lives in an unreal world where he can do anything he wants. he proved it when he was warned for drinking a pint on the terraces, when a normal fan would be arrested and taken to court. the wealthy in the UK are above the law & natural justice.

  • 36 Jail for Ashley // Sep 27, 2013 at 10:13 PM

    Fatman,
He should be charged with crimes against humanity and jailed, but that would be too good for him.

kilcline sure we can lick your disgusting balls.
But you have to lick my ass and eat my shit, because that he is better than you. 37 apps en 33 goals for SC Heerenveen. On that season has he scored 9 goals in 6 apps.
    24 goals last season.
He is a goalscorer that Newcastle need!
