Newcastle Could Lose Captain Next Summer

When Coloccini injured his back in the home game against Southampton last season, he was out for around eight weeks, and Newcastle missed Colo’s calm demeanor in the center of the defense, and we didn’t well at all.

Fabricio Coloccini – will he stay past next summer?

And when he came back into the team for the final three games of the season, the defense seemed to tighten up significantly,  and it was clear just what an influence the captain is to Newcastle, both on and off the field.

Coloccini said in June he will stay for this season, after trying to get out of his contract in January to return to Argentina, but we suppose it’s no more than that, so we’ll have to wait until next summer to see what transpires.

Certainly Alan Pardew, who appointed Colo as captain two years ago after Kevin Nolan left for West Ham, certainly  wants him to stay:

“I don’t know how to put that into words, really. He is very, very important, a very steady, calming influence. “Last year when he wasn’t playing, there was something missing from the team.”

“That’s why it’s so important that he stayed – and hopefully he will stay for a lot longer than this year as well.”

Coloccini’s contract runs out in the summer of 2916, and we hope he can stay to see out that contract.

But we’re not sure of his personal situation with his family, who are now living in Buenos Aries.

Ed, I think you’ll probably be left disappointed with this one. That is an extremely long time and I’m not sure how much use a decomposed Colo is to the team.

But just imagine that hair in 900 years…wow.

So, in other news, Man United currently in the bottom half of the table…Kets, the blog genius?

Sorry, only a few posts into the thread and we already have a call for someone to be ousted! My sincere apologies, Graham, sit back down.

    TADS

I think we knew we had the wrong Amalfi but heyho he was the cheap one … in line with baragian basement transfer policies

I’m sure Colo is a calming influence but he doesn’t seem to be able to get the lads fired up when we need to get at them.

Torq…Been away from the computer and have just seen the Man City score 🙂

Still, as always, it’s more about what Newcastle turn up on the day. There is always hope.

yo-yo…Agreed. It’s all well and good leading by example, but sometimes the team needs a good kick up the backside. Colo isn’t the man to do it. In fact, that trait is fairly sparse within our set up.

    Ruddy,

I read your earlier post about the short sighted fans that Ashley loves to peddle his so called crap to.

You were obviously referring to me and my earlier posts to jimmysmith pointing out we’d won nowt for 44 years.

Ruddy, you really are the most arrogant, ignorant, up you own ar$ehole on this blog.

This yr the league is even more unpredictable I feel.
Spurs and Arsenal are the only teams I “expect” to generally win against weaker opposition. Manu manc chelsea lpool are going up and down.

It looks like a good yr for the spurs spending spree.
Perhaps if we had tried and made decent investment, we could have competed for a CL spot.

How does 45 years without a trophy have any bearing on whether Mike Ashley is, or isn’t a worthy owner of the club?

Surely the only issue is his methods.

Torq – yes that is correct Ciaran (Ruddy) has his own blog now so he thought it silly to be using a pseudonym. It’s not bad actually just click his name to have a look.
