Pardew – This Player Did Exactly What I Wanted Against Leeds

We thought that Papiss Cisse would get a start last Wednesday night, because our joint top goalscorer last season hadn’t scored a goal in 10 games for the Magpies, and all strikers need to score goals to keep their confidence up.

Papiss Cisse – scored his first goal of the season against Leeds

And Papiss missed a very decent chance early in the first half, when he seemed to rush things,  but then he put the ball into the back of the net with a powerful  header from an excellent Sammy Ameobi left wing cross  after 31 minutes, and Papiss had his first goal of the season, and we think he will start on Monday night.

Alan Pardew admitted today that he wanted to see a goal from Papiss:

“That was the ploy against Leeds – I wanted to see him get that goal, and he did.”  “He’s struggled a little bit this season so far. He needed  the goal.”

“He’d been snatching at chances before then.”  “It was just one of those chances that he needed to get good contact on, because it was a great cross. The goal for Papiss will hopefully put a smile back on his face.”

We need Papiss banging those goals in for Newcastle this season, and along with Loic Remy and Ben Arfa up front, Newcastle can be a threat to any opposing defense this season.

And then of course there’s always  Yoan Gouffran, who has also been in excellent form this season and scored a great goal on Wednesday night and is pushing for a starting place in the side.

So we now seem to have the players who can put that ball into the back of the net.

We need something out of the game at Everton, so hopefully these players can be in amongst the goals.

    totally agree with you

Been supporting the TOON through thin thin and thin, Keegan years exciting yet we still won nowt.
Since I started watching the TOON in 1963 v Bury was my first match

    We have won –
    European Fairs Cup Winners
1969 v Ujpesti Dosza, St James’ Park & Ujpest

    Texaco Cup Winners
    1974; 1975

    Anglo-Italian Cup Winners

    FA Premier League Runners-up
    1996; 1997

And as for Ashley raping the club. It was Shepherd and thed Hall’s who raped the club of over £44 million in a six year spree and insulted every Geordie with their bragging on ripping the fans off

Well said sir. People seem to forget that and are clouded in their views because of what happened with KK and Ashley.

Thing is will Pardew play for the win or play to try and not loose? If he goes for the latter we WILL lose as our defence will be under pressure most of the game. The old strategy of playing to score more goals than the oppo is the best tactic for our side now. IMHO of course…….

By the way where did Douglas end up? Is the loan window still open? Might be worth a shot if it is, if he is available that is?
