Tiote And Gouffran Start At Everton – Cisse, Cabaye On Bench

Alan Pardew has sprung one or two surprised with his team selection today, and although the defense is unchanged from the Hull City game, Pardew has started Tiote and Gouffran, and they come in at the expense of Yohan Cabaye and Papiss Cisse.

Newcastle will continue to play in an attacking 4-3-3 formation and it looks like Loic Remy will switch to the center, and allow the in-form Yoan Gouffran to come in on the left hand side.

And Cheick Tiote has fought himself back into the starting line-up and he will share the midfield duties with Vurnon Anita and Moussa Sissoko – so Alan Pardew has been bold in his selection and chosen the players in form.

And both Coloccini and Loic Remy, after an injury scare to both players, are in the starting line up – and this is a very strong Newcastle side and a good bench – with Gabby Obertan making it on the bench – and his speed could be useful late in the game tonight.

Alan Pardew said just before kick-off that Yohan was still suffering from that groin problem he picked up against Hull.

Teams:

Everton (4-2-3-1): Tim Howard; Seamus Coleman, Phil Jagielka (c), Sylvain Distin, Leighton Baines; James McCarthy, Gareth Barry; Leon Osman, Ross Barkley, Kevin Mirallas; Romelu Lukaku
Substitutes: Joel Robles, John Stones, John Heitinga, Gerard Deulofeu, Steven Naismith, Nikica Jelavic, Arouna Kone

Newcastle United (4-3-3): Tim Krul; Mathieu Debuchy, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Davide Santon; Vurnon Anita, Cheick Tiote, Moussa Sissoko; Yoan Gouffran, Loic Remy, Hatem Ben Arfa
Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Paul Dummett, Mike Williamson, Yohan Cabaye, Gabriel Obertan, Sammy Ameobi, Papiss Cisse

Newcastle need a result out of this game tonight.

    No complaints with that selection.

Fair play Pardew. Up to you now lads.

  • 2 check the toastie // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:04 PM

Don’t mind that team, Cabye has been shite, not worthy of the shirt and clearly Cisse is having a nightmare, hope Tiote can come good again, has been cack for ages.

  • 3 mattnufc // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:05 PM

    Good line-up.

  • 4 John Tudor // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:06 PM

still think 343 was the way against these

  • 5 ToonDarnSarf // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:06 PM

As I said, the only debates were whether Tiote would replace one if the other CMs and whether Goofy would replace Cisse.

Gotta say that it’s good to see the changes. Lets the fringe players know they will play more if they perform and the first 11 know that they can be dropped.

  • 6 TorqToon // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:06 PM

What a team we are putting out!

Prob, all personal feelings aside, the right choice as long as Mr t controls his tackling.

Cabs and cisse benched. Took some balls from
Pards to make that call. Nice to see.

  • 7 Burni // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:06 PM

Well…. This season pardew really seems to be trying to play the team he feels is the strongest…. That is until tiote is shit

  • 8 Ibizatoon // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:06 PM

The thing I am most happy about is that Anita has kept his place.

Having Cabaye and Cisse on the bench is fairly promising too.

Check…I hope we can see the Tiote of old. He may not be a well rounded player, but he can do a job well when he keeps it simple. Fingers crossed.

  • 9 toonicle // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:06 PM

Good team today, I like the dropping of Cisse for Gouffran as he has deserved the start for sure. Finally get to see Remy up top, hope he doesn’t disappoint.

  • 10 JAMSHA // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:06 PM

THANK U PARDEW FOR LISTNING… AN PLZZ FOR CHRIST SAKE DNT GO DEFENSIVE IF WE ARE LEADING OR I KNOCK U OFF… AN PLZZ KEEP ON READING THIS BLOG… SO U CAN LEARN FOR US FANS AN BECOME A GOOD MANAGER

  • 11 check the toastie // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:08 PM

No Marv, bit weird, but Marv has been a bit underwhelming this year for sure.

  • 12 Big Pappa Cissé // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:08 PM

Can’t complain really . I still find it strange he decides to drop Cisse after breaking his 10 game goal duck against Leeds . Although Gouffran is more than capable of filling his shoes lately .

    1-0 NUFC, HWTL ;) .

  • 13 Sazzer // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:09 PM

Interesting! Anita over Cabs. Gouffran over Cisse.

  • 14 Ibizatoon // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:11 PM

Hadn’t noticed marv was missing. Still, we have Obertan :)

Big Pappa…I was saying that before. Seems a bit odd to give Cisse the Leeds game to prove himself, he gets the goal and is dropped anyway. But based on season form, it was the right decision.

  • 15 toonbrother // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:11 PM

very harsh on cabaye. I would have dropped sissoko for him. Colocini in central defence is somewhat mitigated by Tiote in defensive midfield. here’s hoping for the best

  • 16 niafron // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:11 PM

    Bonsoir messieurs.

  • 17 Big Pappa Cissé // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:11 PM

    @ Sazzer

Cabaye probably isn’t fit enough to play a full game .

  • 18 check the toastie // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:11 PM

Like the fact that Sissoko will be able to break from midfield, hopefully he will breeze past Barry, make him look like the overrated slow shite player he is.

  • 19 Abbott // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:12 PM

    Great selection.

Cabaye and Cisse coming on if we need them is great too. They will most certainly show that they are in competion for places….

  • 20 p // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:13 PM

I think this is a more defensive lineup:

He can not drop Remy has he clearly is more likely to score than Cisse.

Gouffran will work harder at closing down than Cisse so he gets the nod.

Tiote is obviously a defensive choice, alongside Anita and Sissoko, this is a pretty defensive/ball keeping midfield.

I think that is his rationale and I think there is a good chance one or both of Cisse or Cabaye will come on at some point.

  • 21 check the toastie // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:13 PM

Why would anybody say drop Sissoko, he was our best player against Hull, there are some space cadets on here.

Wonder if Pards plays Sissoko down the right and Benny through the middle, just to look after Baines, wouldn’t be a bad idea.

  • 22 ToonDarnSarf // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:13 PM

    Ibiza

The fans that issued death threats when KK left definitely deserve some blame. They caused a disconnect between owner and club/fans and that has led us to this sorry state where the owner treats us like a Sports Direct mega store. They are very well run but hardly the most fun places to shop.

The fans should unite behind the team and decide if there is a common cause to unite against Ashley. I don’t like a minority protesting for what they feel is best for the majority.

  • 23 niafron // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:14 PM

Well, last year, Pard showed an unquestionable trust to his usuals starter.

    Things changed on the Tyne…

  • 24 Transfer Sage // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:15 PM

This is what I have wanted from pardew for a while…him havin the bottle to make a big decision and bench two of the bigger players when they are under performing.

Very impressed with the line up, think it can get a win tonight. Equally we could lose but if both sides play well it will be one heck of a game.

Hopefully dummet can continue to impress and further push santon/debuchy for a starting spot as I think he looks a class act.

  • 25 niafron // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:15 PM

Not sure about Tioté, but must say our attack is truly exciting.

  • 26 toonking // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:16 PM

just what I was hoping for, well almost. dummett was my preferred LB but it might be more sensible to maybe wait until Cardiff.

this team is a much more well balanced team the task now is for the players themselves to prove they are team mates rather than individuals.

if cabaye is such a professional player he will do what ever it takes to get back into the starting 11 now that he knows that he was dropped the same with cisse.

tiote himself should be careful with his fowls as he is not certain to keep his place if he gets yellow cards.

the key is that this has brought into the team what we were missing all last season COMPATITION.

  • 27 Harley // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:17 PM

Lets hope HBA tracks back on baines!!!

Great team, glad goufran is in over cisse and not fussed at all about cabaye. He’s been average for a year now.

So pumped for tonight. Come on lads!!!!!!!!

  • 28 p // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:17 PM

maybe JFK gave him some “advice”

  • 29 niafron // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:17 PM

The problem with Tioté is his habit to play longballs. With, such an attack, would not produce anything today (altough Rémy isn’t so bad in the air…).

  • 30 BandB // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:17 PM

I thought Obertan did alright the other night when he came on. He missed a couple, did you can’t really blame him for tensing up after the ride he’s had.
He was a different pressure outlet than Shola and generally kept possession longer. If the rest had been a bit quicker getting forward after him it might have worked even better.
If we don’t just sit and let them play, we could get something out of this.
    HWTL

  • 31 check the toastie // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:17 PM

It shouldn’t be a defensive performance, we have two attacking full backs who should be able to get involved and Anita or Tiote sitting in, however wotever team Percy picks can revert into some sort of a shite, I really don’t know what to expect, it should be good, but will probably be shite.

  • 32 colwell // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:18 PM

Our main weakness is our height, Lukaku will love going against Colo and M’biwa he will win everything. Players have to make sure they get the 2nd ball.

Good line up by Pardew, drop cisse and cabs is right decision in my opinion, make them work 2 get back in the team. Only complaint I have is debuchy on the right, he should be dropped also. Play Santon right and Dummet left. Dummet deserves it more than debs.

  • 37 Transfer Sage // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:19 PM

Football is a passionate sport. Those who hate Ashley will not be convinced by those who like him and vise versa, it’s very emotionally charged.

Anything off the field shouldn’t effect the team. As long as all protests occur outside the 90mins then it’s ok as far as I’m concerned. Those who like Ashley do counter protests.

As for death threats effecting Ashley? I doubt they would have, he should be bigger than that and understand his responsibility of running a football club with well over 100 years tradition. It’s like a listed building for me, should have safe guards in place to prevent issues which will damage fans.

  • 38 colwell // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:21 PM

    “Harley // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:17 PM

Lets hope HBA tracks back on baines!!!”

Baines will best Ben Arfa even if he does track back…the thing to do is to leave HBA up field to exploit the space he leaves and send Tiote across…

  • 40 Ibizatoon // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:21 PM

TDS…Can’t disagree as death threats were and are well over the top.

Having said that, he’s a big boy and like you say about minority against majority, it’s not right that because of a minority he treats the majority with such discontent.

Truth is, the fans have only reacted to Ashleys actions. Not always well, but perhaps if he’d handled himself better, then the fans would have too. I feel we’re circling back to the issue of proper communication.

To use SD as an example, I bet he wouldn’t get away with his wall of silence with the share holders at SD.

Given the current sorry state of affairs I think he needs to reassess his approach and try to find some middle ground. I don’t think he will, as I don’t think he gives a toss. Sorry, but for whatever reasons, I find that hard to accept.

  • 41 Robby Bobson // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:22 PM

On the team line-up, its not the lineup thats pleases me, its Pardew showing the willingness to drop those who arent performing.

  • 42 Douglas // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:22 PM

Just think we’ll lose 3-1. Time for some unjust refereeing decisions and an unfair red card. You can tell I’ve supported NUFC all my life.

  • 43 niafron // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:23 PM

    @Transfer sage

And i would add, the greatest problem with football discusions is the fact everyone want to show he’s an expert by expressing an unusual opinion…

So we can’t even agree about obvious things!

  • 44 check the toastie // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:23 PM

Everton have a strong team, strong squad I would take a draw and move on to Cardiff, a draw here would give me confidence for the rest of the season, must say, Everton are no mugs for sure.

  • 45 toonking // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:24 PM

anita sissoko and tiote all might be the more defensive type of CM but it’s the FB going a step too far offensively and the width of midfield so often preferring to go into the centre and very little defensive themselves that causes the CM play defensive.

  • 46 Transfer Sage // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:25 PM

    Ibiza

My thoughts exactly. An owner should understand and respect the traditions of a club and realise how passionately people support it and aim to serve them well and let them know what’s happening.

He may own the club for 10/20/30 years but it will live with fans all their lives and all their children’s lives too. He needs to understand this.

Expressing opinions is fine mate, but if someone wants to speak for the fans, they need to consult with fans of differing opinions too.

  • 48 Transfer Sage // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:26 PM

    Niafron

    Very true.

There are so many aspects to football. There are many different things people want to see and people like different styles so one mans bad game might be another’s favourite game.

We can’t always agree so we just need to try and respect each other’s opinions even if we don’t agreee

Death threats affected Ashley because he stopped coming to games.

Anyway…I don’t think anything will change until he wants to sell, so I’ll just focus on the football…

  • 50 toonarmydownsouth // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:27 PM

Wow fcuking hell, fair play pardew took some bottle to name that squad, cisse has been a shell of the player we know he can be and cabaye has been absolutely poor tbh since the summer, and especially glad to see Anita retain his place, this is a big season for the lad think he’s gonna be a big player for us!

Reckon 2-1 to the toon remy n benny

  • 51 Ibizatoon // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:28 PM

TS…Were you dropped on your head as a child too then? :)

Sadly, for a mutual resolution to be reached, it will take understanding from both sides. I don’t like to be negative, but I find that really hard to envisage at this stage. I’d love to be proved wrong though.

  • 52 Transfer Sage // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:29 PM

    TDS

    It’s difficult though.

If you really really want Ashley gone (rightly or wrongly) and other feel equally as strong but the opposite way then there isn’t much that can be discussed as you will want total opposites.

Just got to say have a pro Ashley campaign to counter the anti Ashley one if you, or others, feel he is doing a good job.

As long as we can all share a beer in the stadium and cheer the boys on.

  • 53 JDdubai // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:29 PM

Think Lukaku will dominate in the air so its key to cut off the supply and make sure we are first to the knock downs. Whenever the ball drops around the box it always seems to fall to the opposition team, maybe its just my eyes seeing this.

Overall good to see pards willing to make changes, team is as i would have played so its down to the players.

Still think he will crowbar Jonas back in somewhere when he is fit : )

  • 54 cyprus // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:30 PM

An exaggeration, but, as always, the key is HBA. He plays well, we win. Not, we lose. Against Hull he was terrible…
If Obertan comes on at some point we have to carry him, as always. With 10 men, we lose.

  • 60 ToonDarnSarf // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:34 PM

I agree. He’s an arrogant pr**k and he thinks he’ll just run the club the way he sees fit. No way will he show weakness by conceding ground to ignorant fools who threatened his family and no way will those fools give and ground either. Stalemate.

He is a recluse though. I don’t think he gets regularly involved directly with SD either. He just does what he wants to do and what he needs to do.

It’s the stalemate that makes me want to just focus on the football and get behind the team. It’s not that I don’t want an owner with more ambition, just that I don’t believe the fans have the right kind of relationship with the owner to get what we really want. He’ll sell when he’s damn well ready to sell.

Personally would drop Cisse and possibly Cabaye they have been passengers that against Everton we cant really afford the luxury of being 2 men down from kick off

Bring in Gouffran for Cisse and Tiote for Cabaye and keep the team unchanged apart from that

Our defence is actually good when they are focussed on defending Debs and Santon only get caught out when they are forced to attack but we need our wide players and midfielders to help them out watch how Baines and Pienarr perform thats how Arfa needs to play with whoever is fullback behind him

Can we talk about the football now? :-)

  • 69 BandB // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:38 PM

I think this squad is a bold effort.
The big fear is they will split into two teams again, with one sitting too deep and the other marooned upfield. We need to compete in the middle.
By the way, I think the club has communicated the plan very, very clearly in the last few weeks.

  • 70 Ibizatoon // Sep 30, 2013 at 7:38 PM

And if you start to claim things as facts without doing the appropriate research, be prepared to back down when someone presents the true facts to you.

Funny how Pardew can’t organise regular service to Cisse, so the lad is left out as a consequence of his poor strategies by not being able to score.

His general play deterioration is a by product of Pardew’s inability to be creative in the final third. Nice one, Alan.

TDS – another LUDICROUS statement (that is also a feeble attempt at an insult)

    ToonDarnSarf // Sep 16, 2013 at 3:50 PM

Revenue increases when you sign a player. Hmmm…that’s obvious logic. Revenue actually decreases as you’ve had to sign the player and pay his wages. Signing a player doesn’t guarantee higher revenue unless that player performs and makes you finish higher up the league. How much is a position worth these days? £1M? So how many positions would this new player have to be solely responsibly for in order to “increase revenue”?

MA caused relegation? You know, he also caused the economic crash I heard…

Playing who earn 50K a week, cannot pass a ball to save their lives.

And who is back here to say something bad about Ben Arfa. The only player who moves in this team. All players are static. Arfa against 2-3 players, but no Newcastle players around him who suppose to be open in that situation.

Yoan and Anita are the only ones who are also moving.

Look at that. Sissoko is running, no players are joining. 3 players of ours are up, that is it. A player is running with a ball and others cannot come fast enough to help in the attack. How is that?

Lazy. Just players being paid a lot but being lazy.

    toon kk // Sep 30, 2013 at 8:52 PM

We have a good squad. Man U have basically the same team as last season as far as I see, but real football is not Fifa. It is not simply how good are the players. It is how do they feel, if they gel, if they have confidence in themselves and in each other. In the manager. If they are under pressure or not etc.

How many times we see 5-6 players don’t play well in one team but then when they go to new teams, each one of them becomes a much better player (some of them go from good to bad of course, it works both ways).

Some of the players are not top quality. But we see also not such great players do great things. And we see weaker teams win against top sides.

We are just not there, mentally and tactically.

  • 329 Santon03 // Sep 30, 2013 at 8:57 PM

Where are all the Blind Faith Brigade (Legion of Dishonor) supporting Percys’ spoutings that our defence is ok and we have offensive options. We are crap.
Percy will probably bring on Cabaye and that goon Obertan. I see a final score of 5 – 0 with Lukaku getting a hat trick.
    Percy ………………………………………………………………OUT.

  • 342 jimiley // Sep 30, 2013 at 8:59 PM

We could have had Lukaku. But JFK could not be bothered. Mashers would not spend any dosh. We could not get him over the line. The Arabs wanted to buy us and not City but Mashers wanted too much. The list of agony goes on and on. The good news? JFK is the next manager. I stopped going to games two years ago after watching them for 50. This agony will continue. I pity the poor sods who are putting dosh in Mashers pockets.

    Pardew has not a clue

The minute Baines was carded Ben Arfa should have been moved to the right

Goufran should be a right back the amount of time he has been back defending

Remy has no chance, no service

Unless Pardew proves he can actually manage and makes for a much better performance (not expecting result now) then I think he should go.

Are our eyes wide open now? Pardew is a disgrace.

Oh we need Remy… oh we need this player.. oh we need that player… as i’ve said for an age, it doesn’t matter which players you play. The manager is useless and that manifests itself onto the pitch making good players look useless amd unproductive.

All this blind faith and acceptance of the owner and manager is also killing the club as the men in charge.

I’m absolutely sick of it. What other manager can make a team full of international players play so badly? Pathetic all round.

The fact that Ashley hasn’t sacked his puppet makes things even worse. The buck stops at him.

I think the team has potential it’s just not used in the correct way. You put say Ben arfa in this Everton team. I bet you he would play more consistently then just the odd bit of excitement every few games. I can’t remember ever watching us play great for the full 90minutes. Under Pardew. Just the odd spell of form here and there. I am all for stability but I reckon if a half decent manager came in rather than Ashley’s puppet we would certainly play better than this with the team we have. We need an edge that we don’t seem to have. The goal that Yoan missed in the beginning of the second half, that was the goal from our attack, but it didn’t go in.

he’s one of our most talented players. it’s only because of pardew’s tactics that he looks out of depth..
maybe he should be played in midfield?
as he’s better attacking than defending

  • 457 toonbrother // Sep 30, 2013 at 9:43 PM

@nufcursed: Unfair? He’s literally shite at defending.

  • 462 Oleg G // Sep 30, 2013 at 9:45 PM

Don’t understand so far what was the point of taking Anita off. We had some flow to the attack. Now we have an extra striker but no one who can build the attack for him.

At least we are defending better.

  • 463 Ted Bundy // Sep 30, 2013 at 9:45 PM

He won’t be sacked. There is just no reason behind this.

This is how a mid table team plays. about 10-13 wins a season.
    Around 45-50 points.

    Around 17-18 games lost.

Remy with a goal. This half was nothing like the first. Why we cannot perform for 90 mins?

  • 480 TheToonKing // Sep 30, 2013 at 9:50 PM

    Played better in the 2nd….still weak…but better…

Why can’t we play like this full game ? This tale of two halves has been a problem for 3 seasons now….

    Pardew still needs to go.

  • 481 Ted Bundy // Sep 30, 2013 at 9:50 PM

too little, too late. so who or what will pardew blame in the blame game? no European football so I reckon faye downey. one thing’s for sure, it won’t be himself.

  • 485 nufcursed // Sep 30, 2013 at 9:51 PM

    see my point?
if we would’ve played like this from the start we might have even got something out of this game!

  • 486 Oleg G // Sep 30, 2013 at 9:52 PM

    AP after the game:

We were very close to getting a point. Yoan missed that goal in the beginning of the second half. If it would go in, we would be talking about a great comeback.

I think our second half was much better. The lads gave their best in those last 45 mins.

I think we played solid football and just our defense in the beginning of the first half was not good enough. But these things happen. Players sometimes don’t perform well. But it is not my fault. I mean, I am not there on the pitch, right?

Anyway, I am a good manager. No doubt about that.

    AP out.

  • 487 sparky55 // Sep 30, 2013 at 9:52 PM

  • 491 Oleg G // Sep 30, 2013 at 9:54 PM

  • 508 theartfuldodger // Sep 30, 2013 at 9:59 PM

We have had over a season of mediocre performances with only a couple of games every now and then ,to give us hope.
The hull game didnt make us look as bad as today.
Against the top 8 sides we are clueless. Players dont know what to do in the middle !!
Fullback areas we just cannot handle. Either were too attacking or tracking back too much.
Central defenders not at it today. Tiote dint look to help out much in defending.

Is there something new that Pardew can say to the players , after sooo many games ? I doubt there is.

  • 509 FrankfurtMag // Sep 30, 2013 at 9:59 PM

Willo was just like a new signing. He shored up the backline a treat. JFK will take credit for that masterstroke.

Seriously, Willo neutralised their threat. He will be valuable next year when we host Barnsley.

  • 510 Marty-Toon // Sep 30, 2013 at 9:59 PM

So we can’t play two strikers up top away from home?
Agree with several here that Ben Arfa is an absolute luxury, doesn’t turn up for half the games and then is excellent in others.
Poor choice with Tiote altar tint today I reckon

  • 520 Papiss9 // Sep 30, 2013 at 10:02 PM

Pardew is not to blame for this defeat. It was a pathetic display in the first half, because of the players.. One of the worst halfes i’ve ever seen. At least it got better in 2nd.

Having said that, I don’t want pardew as our manager

  • 521 Oleg G // Sep 30, 2013 at 10:02 PM

Don’t need to blame anyone specific. Everyone is to blame for the last 2 games. We scored and were leading the game last week, and we let it go.

This time we were in an impossible situation and let 3 goals in in less than 40 min (if I am not mistaken). And playing well only one half is not enough.

Cabaye and Williamson don’t change teams. It is the attitude of all the 11 that changed.

Still, no goal that we’ve scored was just pure class for the team. It was luck, mistakes of their defense and a great shot from an individual player. We are not playing as a group. Not enough at least.

Pardew is not good enough and we see it very well for a long time now. It becomes more and more obvious as the excuses just don’t work. If it was Europe last year, this year there is no excuse like that. It these were injuries last season, there are no excuses right now of that sort.

The only “excuse” is the real reason – “I am not good enough” said the Newcastle manager. That should be in the headlines for months.

In the end of the day, we got 0 points from the last 2 games and we know we could have got much more than that. It doesn’t work with AP. Maybe some players are not good enough, but the manager is the biggest problem.

  • 522 John Tudor // Sep 30, 2013 at 10:02 PM

  • 526 TheToonKing // Sep 30, 2013 at 10:04 PM

We’ve been working hard in training on a high tempo, offensive game plan all week. If anything, I think we may have worked too hard, a little bit. We’ve got some top, top players at this club for sure, 100%. We’re going to have a long hard look at this because one or two things weren’t right in the players attitude, one or two of them, for sure. I think faye might have just asked too much of them if I’m honest. We’re determined to put it right on the training ground next week and I might have to speak to Faye tomorrow morning, 100%, because it isn’t good enough for such a great club, performances like that tonight, if I’m honest.

this is what you all get for giving simmo so much stick.

you lot who build a team that is full of technical wingers and attacking FB leave it on fifa games.

that is not how to build a proper football team.

a FB’s job is always defend a wide mans job is creativity unless they are the Ronaldo and messi which is extremely rare

a midfield is meant to be about players who balance the whole team from the passing and defending to the rebound shots and the front men are meant to be the goal scorers.

CB are a mixture of tall physical and short technical and fast.

our defense is clearly what ruined our whole team
    we look like this

    _________GK
    ______CB____CB
    CM________________CM
    RB___________________LB
    ______RM__________LM
    __________CF___CF

    or
    _________GK
    ______CB____CB
    CM_______CM_________CM
    RB___________________LB
    ______RM__________LM
    _____________CF

but the clear fact is we providing teams massive space in the centre.

Another solo piece of skill and a launch into the box with some good individual control from the talented Remy have got us two goals. Everton took their foot off the gas in the second half which aided in our improved performance.

Still not good enough. Cue Pardew’s interview making it sound like we’ve put in a brave display.

  • 543 theartfuldodger // Sep 30, 2013 at 10:14 PM

Thought we were going to get stuffed tonight, the lads showed up a bit in 2nd half but too late.

How anybody can blame pards for 11 “Professional” footballers showing no heart or ability for the first 45 minutes continues to amaze me on this blog. Players need to look at themselves and start showing commitment. Still behind Pards 100% getting fed up with these 3-2s though

  • 548 Dulcinea // Sep 30, 2013 at 10:29 PM

Also i remember when Debuchy first joined us in January, i remember watching him galloping up the right flank, sending in the most beuatiful crosses and though how lucky we were to have france’s first choice RB.

Now look at him, he is just getting to be a lliability. How is it possible for such quality of player to get progressivly worse? he was usless again

  • 549 doonundertoon // Oct 1, 2013 at 2:53 AM

People defending pardew by saying its not his fault that 11 players didnt turn up for the game are f’g morons, his job is to make sure the players turn up for the game, he is the one that is meant to instill the players with confidence and belief, your all basically saying that pardews job is to set up the tactics then just say “right lads, its on you now” and your all ok with this?

WE NEED A NEW MANGER, plain and simple, its the only way to stop the rot that began last season, the only way pardew would ever come good is if he completely changed his attitude and became more passionate, you speak to any fan of any club that he has managed prior to us, and they all say the same thing, he is a gutless spineless coward, and I dunno about anyone else but those are not the traits that I want associated with my club

Newcastle united, and geordies in general are passionate, plain and simple, thats why we were succesfull under keegan, thats why we were succesfull under sir bobby, its not down to tactical genius, its simply down to those two being passionate people in life and when someone is passionate about something they do, it breeds belief and confidence in everyone around them, every newcastle fan I know arent upset with concedeing goals, they are upset with the lack of fight being shown week in, week out, I couldnt give a fuck if we get beat every week, aslong as we look like they we are trying our best and not making it easy, but since last year we havnt looked up for it at all, and everyone not seeing that pardew is to blame for this are really really starting to irritate me now..

OPen your eyes people, forget the manager of the year award, he got it due to the passion chris hugton instilled in the team after we gained promotion and were trying to proove eveyone wrong about us, you could see our performances start dropping at the end of the 5th place finish, thats the real pardew effect, we need rid of him, and very very quickly or I truely fear the worst
