Tiote And Gouffran Start At Everton – Cisse, Cabaye On Bench

everton-fc_crestnufc emblem

Alan Pardew has sprung one or two surprised with his team selection today, and although the defense is unchanged from the Hull City game, Pardew has started Tiote and Gouffran, and they come in at the expense of Yohan Cabaye and Papiss Cisse.

Newcastle will continue to play in an attacking 4-3-3 formation and it looks like Loic Remy will switch to the center, and allow the in-form Yoan Gouffran to come in on the left hand side.

And Cheick Tiote has fought himself back into the starting line-up and he will share the midfield duties with Vurnon Anita and Moussa Sissoko – so Alan Pardew has been bold in his selection and chosen the players in form.

And both Coloccini and Loic Remy, after an injury scare to both players, are in the starting line up – and this is a very strong Newcastle side and a good bench – with Gabby Obertan making it on the bench – and his speed could be useful late in the game tonight.

Alan Pardew said just before kick-off that Yohan was still suffering from that groin problem he picked up against Hull.

Teams:

Everton (4-2-3-1): Tim Howard; Seamus Coleman, Phil Jagielka (c), Sylvain Distin, Leighton Baines; James McCarthy, Gareth Barry; Leon Osman, Ross Barkley, Kevin Mirallas; Romelu Lukaku
Substitutes: Joel Robles, John Stones, John Heitinga, Gerard Deulofeu, Steven Naismith, Nikica Jelavic, Arouna Kone

Newcastle United (4-3-3): Tim Krul; Mathieu Debuchy, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Davide Santon; Vurnon Anita, Cheick Tiote, Moussa Sissoko; Yoan Gouffran, Loic Remy, Hatem Ben Arfa
Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Paul Dummett, Mike Williamson, Yohan Cabaye, Gabriel Obertan, Sammy Ameobi, Papiss Cisse

Newcastle need a result out of this game tonight.

Don’t mind that team, Cabye has been shite, not worthy of the shirt and clearly Cisse is having a nightmare, hope Tiote can come good again, has been cack for ages.

As I said, the only debates were whether Tiote would replace one if the other CMs and whether Goofy would replace Cisse.

Gotta say that it’s good to see the changes. Lets the fringe players know they will play more if they perform and the first 11 know that they can be dropped.

What a team we are putting out!

Prob, all personal feelings aside, the right choice as long as Mr t controls his tackling.

Cabs and cisse benched. Took some balls from
Pards to make that call. Nice to see.

The thing I am most happy about is that Anita has kept his place.

Having Cabaye and Cisse on the bench is fairly promising too.

Check…I hope we can see the Tiote of old. He may not be a well rounded player, but he can do a job well when he keeps it simple. Fingers crossed.

Good team today, I like the dropping of Cisse for Gouffran as he has deserved the start for sure. Finally get to see Remy up top, hope he doesn’t disappoint.

Can’t complain really . I still find it strange he decides to drop Cisse after breaking his 10 game goal duck against Leeds . Although Gouffran is more than capable of filling his shoes lately .

    1-0 NUFC, HWTL 😉 .

Hadn’t noticed marv was missing. Still, we have Obertan 🙂

Big Pappa…I was saying that before. Seems a bit odd to give Cisse the Leeds game to prove himself, he gets the goal and is dropped anyway. But based on season form, it was the right decision.

very harsh on cabaye. I would have dropped sissoko for him. Colocini in central defence is somewhat mitigated by Tiote in defensive midfield. here’s hoping for the best

Like the fact that Sissoko will be able to break from midfield, hopefully he will breeze past Barry, make him look like the overrated slow shite player he is.

Cabaye and Cisse coming on if we need them is great too. They will most certainly show that they are in competion for places….

I think this is a more defensive lineup:

He can not drop Remy has he clearly is more likely to score than Cisse.

Gouffran will work harder at closing down than Cisse so he gets the nod.

Tiote is obviously a defensive choice, alongside Anita and Sissoko, this is a pretty defensive/ball keeping midfield.

I think that is his rationale and I think there is a good chance one or both of Cisse or Cabaye will come on at some point.

Why would anybody say drop Sissoko, he was our best player against Hull, there are some space cadets on here.

Wonder if Pards plays Sissoko down the right and Benny through the middle, just to look after Baines, wouldn’t be a bad idea.

The fans that issued death threats when KK left definitely deserve some blame. They caused a disconnect between owner and club/fans and that has led us to this sorry state where the owner treats us like a Sports Direct mega store. They are very well run but hardly the most fun places to shop.

The fans should unite behind the team and decide if there is a common cause to unite against Ashley. I don’t like a minority protesting for what they feel is best for the majority.

This is what I have wanted from pardew for a while…him havin the bottle to make a big decision and bench two of the bigger players when they are under performing.

Very impressed with the line up, think it can get a win tonight. Equally we could lose but if both sides play well it will be one heck of a game.

Hopefully dummet can continue to impress and further push santon/debuchy for a starting spot as I think he looks a class act.

just what I was hoping for, well almost. dummett was my preferred LB but it might be more sensible to maybe wait until Cardiff.

this team is a much more well balanced team the task now is for the players themselves to prove they are team mates rather than individuals.

if cabaye is such a professional player he will do what ever it takes to get back into the starting 11 now that he knows that he was dropped the same with cisse.

tiote himself should be careful with his fowls as he is not certain to keep his place if he gets yellow cards.

the key is that this has brought into the team what we were missing all last season COMPATITION.

The problem with Tioté is his habit to play longballs. With, such an attack, would not produce anything today (altough Rémy isn’t so bad in the air…).

I thought Obertan did alright the other night when he came on. He missed a couple, did you can’t really blame him for tensing up after the ride he’s had.
He was a different pressure outlet than Shola and generally kept possession longer. If the rest had been a bit quicker getting forward after him it might have worked even better.
If we don’t just sit and let them play, we could get something out of this.

It shouldn’t be a defensive performance, we have two attacking full backs who should be able to get involved and Anita or Tiote sitting in, however wotever team Percy picks can revert into some sort of a shite, I really don’t know what to expect, it should be good, but will probably be shite.

Football is a passionate sport. Those who hate Ashley will not be convinced by those who like him and vise versa, it’s very emotionally charged.

Anything off the field shouldn’t effect the team. As long as all protests occur outside the 90mins then it’s ok as far as I’m concerned. Those who like Ashley do counter protests.

As for death threats effecting Ashley? I doubt they would have, he should be bigger than that and understand his responsibility of running a football club with well over 100 years tradition. It’s like a listed building for me, should have safe guards in place to prevent issues which will damage fans.

TDS…Can’t disagree as death threats were and are well over the top.

Having said that, he’s a big boy and like you say about minority against majority, it’s not right that because of a minority he treats the majority with such discontent.

Truth is, the fans have only reacted to Ashleys actions. Not always well, but perhaps if he’d handled himself better, then the fans would have too. I feel we’re circling back to the issue of proper communication.

To use SD as an example, I bet he wouldn’t get away with his wall of silence with the share holders at SD.

Given the current sorry state of affairs I think he needs to reassess his approach and try to find some middle ground. I don’t think he will, as I don’t think he gives a toss. Sorry, but for whatever reasons, I find that hard to accept.
