Alan Pardew has sprung one or two surprised with his team selection today, and although the defense is unchanged from the Hull City game, Pardew has started Tiote and Gouffran, and they come in at the expense of Yohan Cabaye and Papiss Cisse.
Newcastle will continue to play in an attacking 4-3-3 formation and it looks like Loic Remy will switch to the center, and allow the in-form Yoan Gouffran to come in on the left hand side.
And Cheick Tiote has fought himself back into the starting line-up and he will share the midfield duties with Vurnon Anita and Moussa Sissoko – so Alan Pardew has been bold in his selection and chosen the players in form.
And both Coloccini and Loic Remy, after an injury scare to both players, are in the starting line up – and this is a very strong Newcastle side and a good bench – with Gabby Obertan making it on the bench – and his speed could be useful late in the game tonight.
Alan Pardew said just before kick-off that Yohan was still suffering from that groin problem he picked up against Hull.
Teams:
Everton (4-2-3-1): Tim Howard; Seamus Coleman, Phil Jagielka (c), Sylvain Distin, Leighton Baines; James McCarthy, Gareth Barry; Leon Osman, Ross Barkley, Kevin Mirallas; Romelu Lukaku
Substitutes: Joel Robles, John Stones, John Heitinga, Gerard Deulofeu, Steven Naismith, Nikica Jelavic, Arouna Kone
Newcastle United (4-3-3): Tim Krul; Mathieu Debuchy, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Davide Santon; Vurnon Anita, Cheick Tiote, Moussa Sissoko; Yoan Gouffran, Loic Remy, Hatem Ben Arfa
Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Paul Dummett, Mike Williamson, Yohan Cabaye, Gabriel Obertan, Sammy Ameobi, Papiss Cisse
Newcastle need a result out of this game tonight.

Comment #85Hardly a Pardew master stroke, they said on Radio Newcastle that Cabaye had a knock.
Funny how Pardew can’t organise regular service to Cisse, so the lad is left out as a consequence of his poor strategies by not being able to score.
His general play deterioration is a by product of Pardew’s inability to be creative in the final third. Nice one, Alan.

Comment #86TDS – another LUDICROUS statement (that is also a feeble attempt at an insult)

Revenue increases when you sign a player. HmmmâŚthatâs obvious logic. Revenue actually decreases as youâve had to sign the player and pay his wages. Signing a player doesnât guarantee higher revenue unless that player performs and makes you finish higher up the league. How much is a position worth these days? ÂŁ1M? So how many positions would this new player have to be solely responsibly for in order to âincrease revenueâ?
MA caused relegation? You know, he also caused the economic crash I heardâŚ

I didn’t take it as an insult. I’m not sure what I said that was ludicrous though…and I’m damn sure I’ve said and done more ludicrous things than anyone on this blog will ever know! đ

You stored that post to come back at me 2 weeks later?? Who are you, my wife?!
As it happens, I corrected myself shortly afterwards. That was just a brain fart, I was talking about profit.

Comment #114Santon’s positioning was poor, his anticipation of the danger was poor, his recovery was poor.
Not like he didn’t have a few warnings prior, too. Too flimsy, which can be levelled at Colo also, sometimes, too, Toonbrother.
