This Is About The Whole Team – Not Just The Manager

Before the Hull City game at home, which 85% of our readers expected Newcastle to win, we were flying high and hoped to get into the top six with the expected win.

vurnon anita west ham

Vurnon Anita – we must show the real Newcastle

And everything went according to plan in the first 25 minutes as Loic Remy scored his first goal for the club, and Newcastle were dominant.

And then  Hull scored, and we conceded another two sloppy goals and lost that game 3-2.

But we were promised a much better performance at Everton on Monday night, but we were taken apart,  in that first half and conceded another three sloppy goals.

And those two league defeats puts  a whole new emphasis on Saturday’s game at newly promoted Cardiff City.

Vurnon Anita has been in good form for Newcastle so far this season, and he revealed just how important the Cardiff game is for Newcastle United:

“The table looks worrying now. It’s a must-win game. It’s like a Champions League match for us, because it’s so important.”

“We must give it our all because you can’t under-estimate anyone in this league.” “A couple of weeks ago, we were doing very well and people were talking about us.”

“Now we’ve lost two games and must recover and show the real Newcastle.” “We’ll do much better against Cardiff.”

“The real Newcastle is the team of the second half at Everton – not the first half.” “It is not just about the manager, it’s about the whole team. We all want to win and to do that, we must improve.”

“To get rid of that inconsistency we’ll go back and watch what we did wrong and improve on it in training.”

Newcastle can very quickly get out of this jam with a win on Saturday afternoon, and quite honestly with the quality of players we have available for Saturday we should be able to win that game, especially because it’s so important.

That’s certainly what we are hoping for.

Coming on this blog these days is a bit like going on a Mackem blog:
    Our squad is shite
    Our manager is clueless
Our owner doesn’t give a damn
    We’re going to get relegated
    We’re full of Frenchies
We don’t have a chance of beating Cardiff

    Etc.

Let’s all be positive then shall we. Let’s all sing from the rafters, tell each other how great our owner, manager and squad is, despite the fact that the FACTS prove otherwise.

It’s not about being negative. It’s about relaying the facts as they stand. If those facts tend to paint a negative picture then I am afraid that is not the fault of the fans, rather it is the fault of the club for giving us such a dud hand to play.

If you are this moronic in real life, it is a wonder how you even manage to dress yourself in the morning.

Given the way Cardiff went at Man City our back four needs resilience. I,d play Debuchy, Williamson, Coloccini, and Dummett. I can see a lot of high stuff coming into the box lets hope we,re better than Monday,s first half debacle

Yet your copy of the latest newsletter it had some good parts that i had to take out as it could have upset a few, but a bit for most fans to have a chuckle about downloadable pdf free of viruses too. so totally free. the wife got me with a one of her man traps yesterday and its painful to sit up god knows what i did but its unpleasant and pointing towards a neck problem as I’m getting head aches after falling flat on my face.

Lets be honest here. What is there to be positive about?

We have a good squad that has under performed for the past 14 month’s in the league.

A manager who is incapable of getting a consistent 90 minute performance out of the players and despite all his talk and bluster nothing seems to change from one week to the next.

A Director of Football who is nothing more than a joke and an embarrassment to each and every one of us.

And an owner who spends the bare minimum and who’s only ambition is simply to exist in the Premier League.

And people still wonder why we are not all smiles and happiness

You know that isn’t entirely true. Our fans often take things to extremes. If we’d got off to a flyer, there would have been people on here talking of CL and our players being worth £30M again. Just 1 year ago many fans wouldn’t have been happy if Tiote had gone for less than £30M!

The situation with he club isn’t great but this blog is just damn depressing sometimes!

‘The situation with he club isn’t great but this blog is just damn depressing sometimes!’

The situation at the club is dire and only looks to be getting worse. Defeat at Cardiff will spell disaster in all honesty as after that we face Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs with Sunderland thrown in the middle and if Everton and Hull can tear us apart God only knows what will happen when facing three of the top clubs in the league

I think the perspective is all wrong! What happened to Leeds and Portsmouth were football disasters. One loss and another poor season isn’t a disaster! Besides, I think Pardew will have to go if don’t improve quickly.

And…er…aren’t we level on points with Man Utd?

To be honest mate, I’ve seen just about everything with this club and a lot of things have been bad, but there’s always been a glimmer of hope as there’s always been a desire to progress, a desire to take the club forward no matter what the circumctanses have been. Whereas under Ashley the only hope we will ever have is if he does sell up or he does a 180 with his approach to us and I’m not holding my breath for either to happen

Feelings! That’s part of the damn problem. Too many people reacting based on their feelings rather than using their heads more.

I get that emotions are running high, but that’s exactly when those with balls keep a clear head and try to do what’s best.

Ashley has found a system that costs him little and makes him lots. He won’t be changing his approach any time soon. Pardew won’t leave unless it is beneficial for Ashley. With Pardew in charge he has a patsy who can take the fall and deflect criticism from himself.

This is the worst I have ever felt about the club in my lifetime, purely because we are lacking in the key ingredient that you described – hope.

The run of form that we are showing, which, incidentally is nothing more than a continuation of last season disaster could well see us in a relegation fight.

As for Pardew needing to go if things don’t improve quickly – The man has had 44 league games since our 5th place finish and nothing has changed so why do you think anything will change in the coming weeks?

The only thing that has changed is that he is all out of excuses and has no where to hide

You just hit the nail on the head with “Feelings” as the thing that separates the two of us as for me this club is all about feeling, its all about emotion and passion. It’s about a life long connection and commitment. It’s about remembering being in the stands on a pi**ing down Tuesday night as an 8 year old boy with my grand father. It’s about watching Tino hot a hat trick against Barca and being close to tears with joy, or being there for Sir bobby’s first game as our manager – So yeah it is all about feeling

Ciaran is clearly a complete moron because he completely refuses to look at the facts.
1 – the only money Ashley has taken out is £11M to pay off part of a short term interest free loan
2 – he has no plans to take out more in the short term
3 – the SD adverts around the club would be worth very little if a company paid for them
4 – it would make more sense to Ashley for a company that Ashley partially owns (SD) to pay a company he wholly owns (NUFC)
5 – he hasn’t taken millions in salary like his predecessor

These are the actual facts, so people should really factor these into their arguments. There are plenty of reasons to slate Ashley without looking like an idiot by making up rubbish.

I’m not an Ashley fan at all, very much the opposite, and want to see him out of the club and out of the region for good, but almost entirely because of the manner he runs the club, exemplified by the Wonga deal, Sports Direct Stadium, the free signage, lack of transparency and clear candid communication etc.

I think he’s a chancer, exploiting the club for all its worth, but it seems to me that the jury is still far from out as to whether he will or won’t spend more freely as our financial position improves, albeit you’d think entirely in the service of the parent company, which is quite a sickener for this proud old club. But to be fair and balanced, financially he hasn’t rolled us as far as I can tell and may yet come good.

    Even so, small consolation.

According to the recent fans forum, Ashley intended to take the remainder of the short term loan (£18M) this year but has changed his mind.

You can get a canny 250/1 on maradona tho.,,
Surprisingly Neil Lennon is 4th favourite and Paolo Di Canio is 5th favourite….
Id take kinnear over Pardew as manager mind, pards makes the same mistake time and time again! When kinnear was manager we were competitive, remember us drawing alot of games but never saw us overran like first half vs everton or the game vs man city!

THE FANS FORUM. If you’ve been following this club, you should know what that is. Representatives on the club and fan groups meet once a quarter to discuss the club. The minutes are online. And I posted a link last week showing the average price to advertise around a PL ground. It’s nothing compared to shirt sponsorship. We only got £13M in total from commercial revenue but £100k extra a year is hardly going to change much…

The average price to advertise at a PL ground does not take into account the fact that as we started to invest in French players Ashley was set to go head to head with Decathlon in their own back yard by expanding SD in France.

As for what is said by the clubs representatives about how much Ashley takes from the club? Do you believe everything you hear or are told?

My point is that there are several genuine things wrong with the club right now, people should really stop focussing on the made up ones.

Especially regarding the finances, the figures are there for all to see. People should focus more on the erosion of that connection between club an fans and that should have nothing to do with money.
