41 year-old Malky Mackay is a good friend of Alan Pardew, and he played for Alan and was the captain when the Newcastle manager was managing at West Ham, and Malky says Pardew is also his mentor in management, and apparently the Cardiff City manager has called Alan a few times for advice during his management career at Watford and Cardiff City.
Malky Mackay – Alan Pardew is his mentor
This is what Malky Mackay told the Journal today about the Newcastle manager:
“Alan is a good friend and a mentor.” “We have had some amazing conversations in the last few years that have really helped me.” “I was his captain at West Ham and I know he is a man who can bring stability to Newcastle United – that is why they gave him a long-term contract.”
“Just look at his record there – he orchestrated that.” “The first half at Everton was not what he wanted.” “He changed things a little against a very good Everton team, and in the second half they played like the Newcastle I have seen so many times.”
“In the end they almost nicked a draw, which would have been unbelievable on the night.” “They have some excellent footballers. Papiss Cisse is a proven goalscorer while Cabaye is a top class international footballer.”
“Give him an inch and he can put the ball in the top corner from 25 yards.” “And Hatem Ben Arfa is absolutely unplayable on his day.”
It’s true that Newcastle have some very good players right now, and our squad is the strongest it’s been since we got back into the Premier league three years ago.
But the players are playing nowhere near their best, and that’s the challenge for tomorrow in South Wales – it’s for some of our players to start playing near their best form. and also that our defense shows some signs of solidity and strength, after leaking six poor goals in our last two league games.
If we can do that, we may even be able o get something out of tomorrow’s game.

Comment #121AP keeps persisting in using a 4-4-2, 4-3-3 & 4-2-3-1 but there’s 1 major problem with all 3 tactics and we all know what it is and it’s width, we have only 1 natural winger and that’s obertan or maybe when giving a chance Santon
Marv – playmaker
Remy – striker
Gouffran – striker
HBA – inside forward
Sammy – winger/inside forward
so there’s no wingers except our fullbacks who act as wingers that leaves us with problems, so our best bet is to play through the middle since that’s where the creativity is.

Comment #122yeah, that side does give scope for the fullbacks to get forward at will, but that again leaves us potentially wide open at the back and Santon can’t cross off his left for toffee.

true mate i would have Cabaye & Sissoko in midfield role with Anita or Jonas, with Marv & HBA in the hole for Marv to provide assist to the 2 strikers or using the 2 strikers to widen the opponents defense leaving HBA to work his magick

Comment #124saying that having our fullbacks going up on the wings for crosses to the 2 strikers with the 4-3-1-2 AP could use Jonas & Anita to cover in there position whilst the AMC could drop into the midfield in case of quick counter attacks by the opposition

Comment #126Yeah, not too shabby. The problem with it would seem how best to utilize width and there’d be a bedding in period though wouldn’t there, not unlike what’s going on now amid howls of derision.

Comment #127also with the fullbacks going up the wings and the AMC dropping back the 4-3-1-2 instantly becomes a 4-2-4 in quick attack with jonas & Anita covering them

Comment #129and also the 4-3-1-2 can become a flat 4-5-1 for defensive purpose or Pardews erratic holding on a 1-0 lead in under 20 minutes first half

Comment #130Hey, hey, calm down, this lot can’t even get their heads around one system. The very notion of seamlessly changing shape at will would cause smoke to come out of their ears.
I think you might be confusing our squad with Barcelonas or Bayern Munichs.

true it would take time for bedding the lads to learn this setup and style but honestly it won’t take long for them to learn it considering we already have a team built to play this system
