Ben Arfa, Yanga Mbiwa, Vurnon Anita Benched

Cardiff City Crest.svgnufc emblem

Alan Pardew has benched three players – Yanga-Mbiwa, Ben Arfa and Vurnon Anita – after the Monday night horror show at Everton and in come Mike Williamson and Yohan Cabaye as expected, and Papiss Cisse also returns to the starting line-up in place of  Ben Arfa.

We expected Mike Williamson and Yohan Cabaye to come into the starting line-up, but the dropping of Ben Arfa was not expected, although he hasn’t played  very well in the last couple of league games.

Vurnon Anita makes way for Yohan Cabaye,  and it’s unfortunate the Dutchman has missed out since he had a decent game on Monday night, and he’s been playing well for Newcastle this season.

It was between Cheick and Vurnon as to who joined Sissoko and Cabaye in the midfield three,  but maybe the manager wanted Tiote’s hustle and bustle in midfield.

Newcastle will continue to play in a 4-3-3 formation, as are Cardiff City, and we’ll have Remy,  Cisse and Gouffran as the front three this afternoon.

Newcastle need something out of this game, and we need to see every single player playing their hearts out for Newcastle this afternoon, and if can do that, then we should be able to get something out of this game.

Howay The Lads!!

Teams:

Cardiff City (4-3-3): David Marshall; Kevin Theophile-Catherine, Ben Turner, Steven Caulker (c), Andrew Taylor; Aron Gunnarsson, Gary Medel, Kim Bo-Kyung; Peter Odemwingie, Fraizer Campbell, Peter Whittingham
Substitutes: Joe Lewis, Mark Hudson, Jordon Mutch, Don Cowie, Craig Noone, Nicky Maynard, Craig Bellamy

Newcastle United (4-3-3): Tim Krul; Mathieu Debuchy, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Davide Santon; Yohan Cabaye, Cheick Tiote, Moussa Sissoko; Yoan Gouffran, Papiss Cisse, Loic Remy
Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Paul Dummett, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Vurnon Anita, Jonas Gutierrez, Hatem Ben Arfa, Sammy Ameobi

Referee: Kevin Friend (Leicestershire)

Ben Arfa deserved to be dropped. Needs shaken up. His attitude has stunk to high heaven in the last 2 games.
    The Anita decision is bizarre.
The Williamson decision against 2 pacey forwards, Campbell and Bellamy, is bizarre.

    Pardew needs to go ASAP.

Pardew you absolute fcuking coward. Anita hasn’t put a foot wrong but is dropped for mr “I cant pass 10 yards ” Tiote.

What a joke, Pardew is up there with our worst managers ever

Even if we win today, you can’t overlook his decision to drop Anita. If I was Vurn I would be putting in a transfer request in Jan if Pards is still here. He has every right to be furious.

Where is the logic in dropping our fastest CB against a team with two pacy strikers ? .

Bravo Alan bravo , here was me thinking he couldn’t get any worse.

How are we supposed to control the midfield with Tiote playing? He’s done absolutely nothing to deserve a start, if I was Anita I’d be asking for a transfer in January. Disgusting.

Hopefully, after a week of intense training to resolve the shambolic defensive display against Everton, we can look forward to some cohesion in the back four. It would be nice to see the defenders covering for each other, making passes available, you know, simple things, like helping your mate out!!!

If we play as we did in the 2nd half last week, we can take at least a point today – if we play like Everton 1st half, Cardiff will destroy us.

i know i see football different to most out there,

but come on Anita has been better than both sissoko and tiote, and should be starting,

i also dont think that front 3 works,,

Predictable, though last match he picked the exact team I would have, arguably our best attacking team and we got stuffed and didnt show up for 45mins……

Doesnt matter who plays, as a team we will be crap until Pardew leaves…

I used to love looking forward to the weekend for the match, being optimistic about how we could win every match, seems a long time ago..now playing Cardiff City it has the feel of a tough match.

Anita has done well, it was only a matter of time fore he subbed Anita a couple of times then he re-starts Tiote again. Shocking.

Pardew talks about Ben Arfa being consistent, yet he alone has got nearly half hour points from his goal against Fulham alone.

First few games he looked lively and as John Anderson has just said, looked our bright spark.

I wouldn’t have dropped Ben Arfa, because he can provide something from nothing.

i’ve seen him have bad games where he’s tried stuff and it hasn’t came off. against hull he tried nothing and didn’t want to be there, against everton he only came to life once we were getting beat and still couldn’t pull anything off. deserves to be benched for his attitude.

So pissed off about Anita, I despise Tiote from a footballing point of view. He’s shown these last 2 seasons why he couldn’t get a regular game at Twente at the age of 22.

Well, don’t really care of who is benched (must say Beny deserve a “lesson”), but i frightened by this line up.

I expected us to keep going with a different kind of play. And it seem Pard gave up after one or two defeat…

Same things happened already 2 or 3 times in the past. So i’ll count today the long balls.

Why don’t we force Pardew into changing Tiote for Anita during the game by shouting Anita’s name if Mr T is again doing one of his horror shows.

It worked for HBA when he’s on the bench.

If we keep yelling Anita, Anita, Anita Pardew will have to bring him on!

Cardiff will attack the 2 very poor full
backs, and yet again the centre backs
will be pulled out of position as with
    Everton.

Pardew is going back to his hoofball philosophy today.
