Yohan Cabaye is back in the France squad, after not being selected in the last two squads, and he’ll not be too lonely, as three of his Newcastle team mates – Loic Remy, his best friend Mathieu Debuchy and Moussa Sissoko are also in the squad – wonder who they’ll be chatting up to come to Newcastle next summer? 😀
Yohan Cabaye – on French duty
Pretty soon France manager Didier Deschamps may have to send a special plane to Newcastle to pick up his French players for International games.
Yohan Cabaye and Loic Remy were Newcastle’s best players on Saturday in the 2-1 win at Cardiff City, with Loic scoring two more goals for Newcastle in the first half, and Yohan hitting the post with an audacious free kick from all of 30 yards out – a fantastic effort from the Frenchman.
Cabaye has talked today on nufcTV about Loic, who he just loves playing with:
“He’s scored important goals – twice again on Saturday – and he helped us to win the game, so of course he deserves to be in the France squad.”
“For me, it’s fantastic because I love to play forward and with him. It’s so easy because he’s quick. “He can move very fast and very cleverly, so it’s very, very important for us.”
“He gives us another way to play.” “It’s going to be very important because the World Cup is not far now.” “We have to play the last qualifying game.”
“We are sure of the play-offs now, but we never know and we are going to have to beat Finland at home and wish for something.”
“Now it’s going to be very important to play well with Newcastle from the next game until the end to hopefully be in the squad for the World Cup.”
France will play Australia in a friendly in Paris before next week’s final group game against Finland.
And then, as Yohan says, they will have to be in a play-off to qualify for the World Cup finals next summer in Brazil – we certainly hope France make the finals, and it will be interesting how many Newcastle players will make the squad in Brazil – even more than four is a possibility.

Comment #84fatman…Absolutely. I would welcome death but I am not convinced the curse ends there.
There’s a thought….an afterlife full of Newcastle drama.
Okay, a light hearted joke becoming somewhat depressing now…some help please.

Is Ashleys ex really a fan? Do you think maybe it’s due to that he wants to wind us up so much?
Lesh…What have I missed? It best be good, I’ve used up a lifetimes worth of sympathy on Kinnear.

Comment #94This team could be transformed with a good manager. Someone who gets his team passing the ball. Someone similar to Laundrup or Martinez. Poyet would have been great.
If we have to go English then Clark or Holloway would be better than Curbishley

Comment #96Ciaran;
“Remember69 What constitutes a true fan, just so I know what to strive towards as some are clearly not making the grade”
Alas, a TRUE fan would not have to ask – it is a liefestyle not a series of requirements.
As a TRUE fan your club is like a child with which you provide unconditional love and support, through thick or thin.
It is easy for some so called ‘supporters’ to jump on the bandwagon when clubs are doing well, but the TRUE supporters of NUFC stay the course.
When the going gets bad and others fall off the bandwagon, or resort to complaining like an old woman with gout the NUFC fan stands firmly behind his club. That’s what makes us different to the fair-weather Man Utd/Chelsea crowd et al.
Life as an NUFC fan is often frustrating as we all want the team to do well and actions are out of our control, but at the end of the day if we are TRUE ‘supporters’ we are required to live up to that mantle.
I’m sure some will disagree, but really can we say we support the club if every post is written to insult managers and playing staff? Is that being constructive?

Comment #97fatman….. Much appreciated and if needs be, I’ll be in touch.
Ibiza, you’ve missed nowt other than the dope-fuelled reminiscences of poor lost souls who admire Mrs Ashley for pitching up at Cardiff.
It’s remarkable that she should want to be close to Kinnear. It must be his charisma that does it!

Comment #99Lesh…You had me a dope fuelled….I actually meant talk of sympathy and possible need for medics…everything alright?
remember…The “true fan” debate is a little dangerous these days. No longer is at simple as people just being negative for the sake of it or just being unhappy because one player is being preferred to another. There is a rot right at the core and it’s hard for fans to see any light at the end of the tunnel.
We saw some light two years ago, only for the owner to start boarding up the exit as quickly as he could.
It is no wonder than fans are completely depressed and lost of hope. I’m not sure it’s possible to have a reasoned discussion of what makes a true fan.
If people weren’t true fans would they dedicate so much time to the cause, even if other people deem it to be a negative approach?
Granted there will always be some people that are never happy, that is part of life, but many of these unhappy fans were supporters of Ashley / Pardew not that long ago…but that belief has been beaten out of them.

Comment #100Fatman, jesperfuglsang, Sting, or Gordon Sumner as he was then, used to play stand up base with a local band Last Exit. They had a regular spot at the Gosforth Hotel on the High Street.
Annnnyywayyyyy, I remember him announce that he was gonna sing and he did, one number. At the time, it sounded awful and I remember suggesting that he should concentrate on becoming a teacher and stick with the bass!

Thanks for the abuse. Have you had a hard day or something?
I stand corrected. Pardew has a blinding CV and has been much loved wherever he’s gone.

when my gran told me the story about sting and the milk i just thought my gran was becoming a bit senile until i checked up, in them days you had to go to the library and read old chronicles and i found an article about the house we used to live in and an article about his dad owning the milk round where my gran lived so i just excepted the rest of my grans story as true. obviously easy to check now and it had been spot on although at the time i did not like his music now i do.

” Pardew’s just had a good result”. How often do we hear that? The fact people are always speculating who the new manager will be speaks volumes.
I’m worried now Poyet has gone down the road who else half decent is there? Ash will never have heard of Solksjaer or Bergkamp. We missed out on Blanc, Girard and Garcia and people don’t seem to like Di Matteo.
If English, Hoddle maybe – at least good football but Curbishley would be another backward step so is probably nailed on..
