Newcastle Linked With Argentine Striker

There are reports in France that Newcastle may be interested in Nice striker Dario Cvitanich, who only joined the French club in July of last year, after being at Ajax from 2008 through last year, and he had trouble in getting games in Holland and had to go out on loan for his last two years when at the Holland club..

Dario Cvitanich – are Newcastle interested?

Newcastle need to bring in a striker in January, after the club were unsuccessful in bringing in one of their top targets – Bafe Gomis of Lyon – over the summer, but it seems that Dario would be an odd choice, since he turns 30 next May.

Newcastle are supposed to be monitoring the situation with the Argentine, who started his career at Banfield,  and was on loan at Boca Juniors and Mexican club Pachuca, because he could not get a regular place in the Ajax side.

But Dario did have a good goalscoring season at Nice last term, when he scored 22 goals in 32 appearances for the French club, and he still has a full two years of his contract to run at Nice.

The right footed striker was born in Baradero, Buenos Aires and he is also of Croatian descent, but he has no caps at any level for either Argentina or Croatia, and we’d be very surprised if these reports in France have any truth to them.

What do you think?
