Newcastle To Move For England U21 Winger In January

Newcastle were interested in 21 year-old Blackpool winger Tom Ince over the summer, but for whatever reason we didn’t get him to Tyneside, but since his contract runs out next summer, Newcastle may be able to land him at a cut price, and we all know Mike Ashley is always interested in a proposition like that.

Tom Ince

Tom Ince – Newcastle still interested in this player

The report does say that Blackpool will want a token fee for the player in January, so maybe that’s why Newcastle didn’t move to sign him in the summer – that seems like a possibility.

His price is listed at around £4.5M, and that’s hardly a token price, but it’s less than the £8M that was mentioned in the summer.

And of course it could even be that Tom signs a new deal at Blackpool soon, and his father, Paul, the former Manchester United and England great now manages Blackpool.

The Mirror is reporting that Joe Kinnear believes Tom Ince would be a good signing for Newcastle, but to us he seems very similar in style to 21 year-old Sammy Ameobi, although he has a lot more experience and is a better goalscorer, and if he arrived in January, that could limit Sammy’s first team appearances.

Ince’s representative is Chris Nathaniel and this is what he told the Mirror:

“Thomas now feels he is ready for Premier League football on a regular basis – whether that comes in January or at the end of the season. He is grateful for the chance Blackpool have given him, but he now wants to step up a level.”

There’s no doubt Tom Ince is a good player, and he was great in the pre-season friendly against Newcastle in that second half, when he was hard to contain.

Tom has made 96 appearances with 30 goals, since joining the Tangerines from Liverpool just over two years ago.

But do we really need another winger at Newcastle, when we already have a number of them on board?

What do you think?

Comment welcome.

Other teams will move for him as well, so why would he want to come here?

    @ Ed

I agree with matt on this one, wingers is what we need most followed by a replacement for Ba .

IMO we have 2 out and out wide men in Sammy & Obertan but neither are PL quality.

Ince would have a rather large price tag on him, also if he went for about 4 million and would love to come here MA will simply not pay the fee nor JFK & AP because they simply don;t know there football and are stuck with the knowledge in the 80’s

Hang on a minute, just a few weeks ago our beloved manager was stating that no players came in during the summer because the club did not want to go into debt.

In that case, if we go for Ince who will we be selling, Cabaye, Hatem or both perhaps?

I can see us selling someone, but JoKe failing to get Ince “over the line”.

imo Cisse should be sold, even if we got 2 of the best wingers in the world Cisse still couldn’t get goals and our goals would be heavily depending on the wingers acting as inside forwards

Lots of good young talent waiting to picked up by big teams Aaron Cresswell, Sam Byram, Lewis Dunk, Harry Maguire, Jamaal Lascelles, Will Hughes, Thomas Ince, Jordan Rhodes, Danny Ings, Harry Kane,
Will Keane, and many more ive forgotten we just need to invest in the right areas and we will have a team to look forward to seeing for the next 10yrs but we also need to give our own young talent a chance and not wait until they r 20+ yrs old they should be playing at that age if they r to make it in the prem

toonluvva I dont beleive we r in so much debt its more a case of MA not wanting to held for ransom during the summer the prices r sky high he prefers Free or low transfer but in quality and thats were the problem is no english talent like the ones I stated before will go cheap hence y we shop abroad for young talent it will always be that way unless he changes

i get your point mate, i wouldn’t want MA spending huge amounts of £ bringing in players, but there’s positions in our team that need to be strengthen for cover, we all see it were it needs to improve but why hasn’t the 3 stooges spotted this

Trust NUFC to get the type of Billionaire that has a jar for his copper coins rather than an oil tycoon or Sheikh that is willing to spend millions to make a Yacht a few feet bigger to stroke their ego.

    Such a shame 🙁 .

Black and White with an army lol If those players do go and we do have replacements already is that a bad thing maybe the young players on loan will come on strong and come straight in next year I for 1 hope they do rather than spending and not giving them a chance also we have 3-4 more in the u21s that r making good progress towards the first team so we may have upto 7-8 joining the first team with in the club

To be honest I would rather have success come from a brilliant academy or through brilliant scouting, but even then money talks.

Just look at Dortmund, Win the Bundesliga and get in the CL final despite nearly going bust a few years ago. Now they have had Gotze,Kagawa and by the looks of things Lewandowski sold .

It would be amazing to see the likes of Aguero, Silva,Toure, Kompany,Hazard,Mata,Oscar and many more pull on the black & white stripes and actually win something.

Even if it meant “selling our souls” .

Cabaye won’t leave… he won’t be allowed unless for silly money because without him relegation would be on the cards. He has been in great form the last few games including for France and in his current form makes us competitive. .

I think Sammy could be PL quality… he has stepped up this year but to date hasn’t been given much of a chance so its hard to tell.

We would definitely have a chance with Ince. I feel that neither he nor his father would allow him to go to a top team where he would just warm the bench. He will only go somewhere where he will get first team experience. If NUFC can give e him that then he will come. Given the splash of cash from similar teams to us in the last window they may reluctant to spend more.

Black and White with an army lol 2013. Come on man, get a grip, make your mind up

One minute you’re saying that any gain ed from selling the likes of Cabaye would not be reinvested but finds itself in Ashley’s pocket and the next that we could sell whoever and. use the money to buy this one ad that one. Ashley is an odd one isn’t he!

In reality does anyone see Ince joining us? I certainly don’t.

Why? Can anyone hazard a guess? Let me think out loud:

We didn’t buy in in the summer coz we didn’t want to incur any debt.

There’s restlessness about the natives and the promise of negative.press for the club, Ashley, Kinnear and Pardew. Tut tut, so very embarrassing and inconvenient

Does Ashley want negative attention from the media?

But Ashley will attempt to curry fans’ favour before the demo on 19th and what better softener that a buy or two…. that we all know we won’t be able to due to silly fees, agents being greedy etc.

How many times have hopes been raised and lost?

I’d love ince at Newcastle. I think he’s far better than what we have.

I like his direct style, more of a runner like Walcott than a dribbler like sammy (not saying he’s at walcotts level yet).

    Plus he scores goals too.

BPC…maybe that is the difference between being born in Newcastle and being a foreigner 😉

…you just want that trophy even if it meant selling your soul; for me it is all about the soul!

I just want a well run club in all aspects who aim for the sky within its means. For me neither MA, JFK or AP have anything to do here, because they strive for mediocrity…and when you do that you get what we have now!

Obertan is a winger but he does nothing in the end with the ball, given up on him making it at all.
Sammy must be feelin like it won’t happen under Pards, his last game he was exceptional in front of Dummet with some great tricks and crosses, yet he gets dropped for Gutierrez
Ok,I know he wasn’t playing against PL opposition but it was Leeds.
Think he’s ready to be fair.
Ince is a decent player and would be a starter I’d say.
Will Hughes is a better prospect in the long run I reckon

Does no one else believe we already have a top Premiership quality LW in the form of Santon, and two good young LBs in Haidara and Dummett? I wish Pardew would experiment here as Santon seems twice the player going forward.
