Big Chance For This Player To Resurrect Newcastle Career

News today from Alan Pardew that Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa will play tomorrow for Newcastle against Liverpool, and that should give the Frenchman a huge opportunity to show Newcastle fans he can indeed get the job done at Newcastle.

Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa – big chance for this man tomorrow afternoon

It will be a surprise to us if Yanga-Mbiwa starts at center-back tomorrow, but that seems to be what Alan Pardew is hinting at, as he had this to say in the local papers today about the 24 year-old:

“Mapou will play. He came out of this team, but he has put in some strong performances for this football club.”  “Certainly, it takes time to adjust to the Premier League.”

“I remember Coloccini’s first year here. Sometimes it takes some adjusting. What we’ve done is give him some solutions to get the best out of him.”  “You are looking for a bit of character in a player,”

“He’s a player with tremendous pace. He has to utilise that. If he can do that, he is going to be a massive asset for us.”  “We paid a lot of money for Mapou. “

“We are hoping he can get Premier League football in a short period of time. He is growing as a player, and he will get better.”

Pardew makes a good point that Colo struggled in his first season at the club, which turned out to be the relegation season, but since then he’s been a massive player for Newcastle, and played great in the promotion season and just over eighteen months ago was in the Premier League Team of the Season, after Newcastle finished 5th in the league.

So Mapou has a good role model to help see him through what have been some difficult games for him at Newcastle so far, but he’s also turned in some excellent performances for the team too.

Mapou was dropped after Newcastle’s 3-2 defeat at Everton, when we looked completely hopeless in that first half, and Mike Williamson came on at half time for Mapou, and had a solid game.

The Frenchman is a first class professional who wants to improve his game at Newcastle, and if Newcastle are to get a result tomorrow  then Mapou will have to have a very good game.

We hope that’s exactly what happens.

What do you think?

I think we need to stop putting the emphasize on our defense. Before we bought Mbiwa, Debuchy and Santon our defense wasn’t exactly great – some would point out it was quite bad!

I would like to think the players we have bought plus Colo makes up a damn fine defense most PL teams would be proud of.

The beef for me lies somewhere else!

Mapou is a great defender against smaller strikers.

It’s such a shame so much pressure is being put on this lad
He has so much natural talent and physical attributes but he is simply not ready for the premier league and certainly not ready for liverpools sas
It is not his fault but I fear a mauling for him if he does feature tommorrow and that will do him no good at all look what Suarez has done to collo in the last couple of seasons
I relly hope I am wrong but it really feels like feeding him to the lions and there will be no way back if I a right

Sometimes you just get done by better players. No matter what defence we put out tomorrow we are running the risk of a spanking because of the mismatch of their forwards v our defenders.

I’d stick with M’biwa, only way to learn is by plugging away, he had one poor game against a bull of a centre forward. He’s the one defender most equipped to deal with Liverpool’s pace tomorrow. It’d be foolish for Pardew to leave him out.

I am not sure it’s only one poor game have a look at his record of mistakes leading to goals he tops this list
I do think he has potential but simply far too early
His positional play at the moment is frankly awful but I agree loads of potential but not in front of 52000 against the pool

This guy should be far better suited to taking on the likes of Suarez and Sturridge than Collo and Williamson – at least he has some pace to burn and should be able to match the Liverfool strikers in that department.

The major question is – Can Pardew mould the back four into a cohesive defensive unit? HE coaches the defense evidently, which speaks volumes, given how bad the defence has played so far this season. If the defence, all four collectively, plus some assistance from Tiote, actually work as a “Team” then we have a fighting chance agains liverfool.

North Atlantic Mag makes a great point, and both Liverpool forwards Sturridge and Suarez are small strikers, Liverpool play the ball to feet rather then in the heavens, so his turn of pace and reading of the game will compensate Williamsons lack of it

Let’s hope all your optimism is realisd
You do however need to be in the right place no matter if the striker against you is big or small

bit unfair towards him at the mo, not sure many cb with lots of pl experince will control lucakoo, we need all the pace we can get at the back against a liverpool side who will be full of pace and trickery, maybe the experience of taylor{im slaughtered for sayin that},against the sas there is no plan we have that will work they are simply great players. so attack is the only way we can win this or cut there supply, there is no room to carry cisse in this game, id chuck hba up there as hes not best at trackin back but when we get the chance to hit the ball out remy hba can leg it, cabeye will be key as sissoko will be if he can run out with it before it gos forward, not worried about fullbacks going forward as i dont think they are going to get the chance, pards has to have a plan to attack an hit them, theres no way we can not concede against these unless kruel has a screamer of a game, reny can score goals hba can score and beat players and not good at trackin back, hba is a better option than cisse for this game, then again shola probably has more chance of scoring than cisse. lukcaoo is the player we need he should be top of the list no matter what. attack is how we must play go down fighting how pards gets them to get ball out is another thing, as i think we have a steamtrain coming to st james this weekend and would gladly take 1 – 0 to them as a result right now, thats just the truef, dont slaughter the team this week end . a drw will be magnificent, a win would be well fffff………………….f……..f……f. this is a side that is in form have players scoring and play good footy the type of team we want to be. i still want us to win believe it or not just think the only plan will be to hoof for hba and remy to outpace them somehow. now go and beat them 4-0 and play em off the park lol

    South Coast
My best friend is a season ticket holder at pool
He is clear that the table flatters them and says stop Gerard stop the team
I guess that supports your view about how import the central midfielders are
Just could be a great game
