There were a number of positives for Alan Pardew to take out of the game yesterday, and we’ll list just a few of them – but it was a game which will give our players a lot of confidence, especially the way our lads were so resolute in that second half – and deserved that little bit of luck in the last 20 minutes to take the point.
Paul Dummett – after scoring his goal yesterday
Here are four positives we took out of the game yesterday:
- Cheick Tiote had a very good game and is probably back to near his best form. And he made a decent job as Newcastle captain, and as we said earlier today, if this is the impact the captaincy has on his play, he should be the Newcastle vice-captain from now on.
- Paul Dummett again came on and got the job done for his home town club Newcastle, after Yanga-Mbiwa had been given his marching orders, and in that second half his positional play at center-back was good, and he did very well alongside Mike Williamson at the back.
- Yohan Cabaye apologized ro Newcastle fans for his antics at the beginning of the season, and said he would pay them back by what he does on the field. And that goal from nothing yesterday was simply magnificent, and long may Yohan be in the form he is at the moment – he was simply terrific yesterday for Newcastle.
- Every single Newcastle player – including the likes of Loic Remy who wasn’t in the game much, but would have slept well last night – ran their socks of for the cause. It was great to see the commitment, courage and resilience of the Newcastle side yesterday in the second half, when they were under so much adversity – they were simply great
Which are some of the other positives we didn’t list?
Sunderland have seven defeats and one draw in their first eight games, but this could still be a huge banana skin for Newcastle next Sunday – just like Hull City proved to be – and we must go all out to get all 3 points – but it will not be easy.
What do you think?

Comment #81That’s the spirit wolfshead mate. Hopefully it’s one of their nasty lot. Clattermole early in the first half would be perfect 🙂

The Last Time NUFC lost at Stadium of Shite, In the match previous we had a 2-2 draw against Man City and we had Beye Sent off.

making him captain when colo’s not there might be a stroke of genius on Pardews behalf.
Might help him to keep his head and concentrate on the game and being in charge of the other ten on the field

tiote certainly played a better game…he had his bite back which he had lost last year, hopefully he can make a return to the player he was. With sissoko not doing much so far maybe it gives anita a chance…pardew now has a good few players so he can actually drop those not performing and actually have proven players to come in as well….its good to see.

exactly my friend, there was a lot of people there, i don’t know why some put down the march just because they don’t agree with it…acknowledge it for what it was..a well planned and well behaved peaceful march against an owner than a lot of fans don’t like.
I would be interesting for Ed here as well as people like the chronicle to do a poll on whether fans want ashley to stay or go.

Comment #891. Never predict the score of a derby game Himanshu @86. 2. Always wait until just before the match to put your sweater on. 3.Only drink your tea with your right hand. 4. Dance round in a clockwise direction after all goals scored by us. 5. If absolutely necessary and we are trailing at any point put a curse on all mackems and their ancestors. 6. Drink several pints after the game no matter what the score.

So nice to read constructive discussion on this blog. Unfortunately it’s been a rarity lately.
Excellent point against liverfool yesterday and finally our big names are beginning to show their class. Cabaye seems to have settled, debs too. Can’t wait to see Remy, gouff and HBA fit click. It will be something special.
Tough game next week. As we know, form and the league table go out the window on derby day. But momentum is a massive thing in football, and we have it. Time to make it count!
Hope we are all well. 🙂

Comment #97If we play well and press them from kick off we will win comfortably we have better quality than they have ! Its as simple as that last season when we played them away from home we were on course for a 2 or 3 goal stroll till Tiote got himself sent off and even then it was a Demba Ba own goal that got them the points !
We just need to run at them like a train from the start would keep the same team except the new centre back but if Taylor and Colo are only going to be half fit then young Dummett can come in would even consider dropping Sissoko for Anita but I think it wont happen

Comment #98Just wanted to credit the lads on yesterday’s performance. I’d written us off but we battled like hell. Brilliant stuff and the save from timmy at the death was superb.
Going into the Sunderland game feeling confident although I think a red card in that game is a great bet such is the importance of the win.
I moan on a lot about pardew and Ashley etc but look down the road it’s a disaster. 1 point

Comment #99Yes you’re all spot on there. I have to move on. I took the extra precaution of actually cutting my left hand off after that debacle Himanshu. No more slip ups there mate but I am worried that my curses aren’t strong enough. Transfer I take full responsibility but Pards in on his own this season.

Comment #100Sage – I’m very well, sir. Thank you for asking. Yeah my time on here is limited just now as work is piling in (which is a good thing) but interfering severely on my social life! 🙂 How are you, my friend?
Himanshu – Been away a while, but are you the artist formally known as ‘Indian Magpie’? Apologies if not, I just recognise the name and wasn’t sure if I read it on one of your articles? There is always stuff regarding our club mate. I just have to be careful what I post and don’t post, now. We aren’t sat on our bums watching everybody else prepare for January, however. I can say that much. Hope you are well.

Comment #105Sage – Yes sir. I was maybe a little silly in how much I said. Although I did always post what I had heard from reliable people and got lucky that most of it was proven. Left myself open to criticism however so have learnt from my mistakes. 🙂
Geordie 2 – He isn’t as bad Of a person as some might perceive. Wouldn’t have been my choice (or many others for that matter) but I believe he was integral in the clauses regarding Loic Remy so that’s only a good thing. As I say, he wouldn’t be my choice, and should be kept as far away from the media as feasibly possibly, but he isn’t doing as bad a job behind the scenes as I expected him too.

Comment #107I would actually take a point against the mackems.
It certainly won’t be an easy game, certainly not as easy as some people are making out.
This week will be the first time Poyet has really worked with them. due to the international break.
Add the fact that he’s tactically out thought Pardew on a few occasions already. I’m not that confident lol

Comment #109If we get an early goal and sunderland fold the atmosphere there will be every bit as poisonous as the 0-3 defeat. Might not be horses getting punched but I wouldn’t like to be Phil Bardsley when some nutter jumps onto the pitch to do him in

Comment #111What a refreshing delight it is tonight to read good blogs from the likes of Bills son ,torq toon and the rest of the lads talking about football.
This week , the old butterflies will be kicking in ,so it would be helpful if we can talk about the derby and put all that sh@te about Ashley @ marches to bed .

i personally can’t wait, have a lot of mackem friends and can’t wait to get bragging rights back…fancy us to really spank them.
our lads will be fired up after last year and if we start well we will crush what little spirit they will build this week and the fans will get on their back
we could really root them to the bottom of the table with a heavy win
