This Newcastle Star Was Best Player On The Pitch Yesterday

9:24 am, Sunday, October 20th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 15 Comments

Cheick Tiote is leading our poll for Newcastle’s best player against Liverpool, and Cheick must have had one of his best games ever for Newcastle, and if that’s the effect that captain has on the Ivorian, then he should now be the permanent vice captain to Fabricio Coloccini.

Cheick Tiote - played great yesterday

The top four players at the moment in the poll are Cheick Tiote, Yohan Cabaye, Mathieu Debuchy and Paul Dummett, and of course they all had good games as did Yoan Gouffran and Mike Williamson who are next in line.

Newcastle players worked their socks off yesterday, and showed resilience, spirit and courage in that second half with just 10 men, and to hold a strong Liverpool side  and come away with a point was simply excellent.

We thought a point would be a great result before the game, but to get it after we had Mapou sent off just before half time was even better.

We are proud of  all of our players yesterday.

Great game yesterday, a complete reverse of last years game.
Hopefully we can carry on ,upwards and upwards.
I see no reason why not ,as long as we keep it tight at the back,,as we have a great midfield and a good attack.
Remy has brought a real good factor to the team ,a little bit like what Ozil has to the Arsenal side.
The only negative thing concerning our side is that I would like to see a starting eleven that play week after week.

yep as much as i’ve called the lad in the past tiote was his old self yesterday and controlled everything.

debuchy had his best game for us yet and williamson suprisingly has turned out to be our best cb and a very good one aswell.

now if only cisse can get his form back !!!

I voted for Cabaye instead of Cheick !

Simply because Yohan gave up the Captains armband which was given to Cheick instead !
Plus i think Cheick was partly to blame for their first goal, playing Suarez on side before the through ball to him for the Penalty incident !

If you,d of told me friday that we would get a point against Liverfool at home this week i would of been happy!
Just hope we don,t pick up any injuries next week when we go to the Stadium of Shite !

well well we can play football pardew got it all right yesyerday and we looked a very good side going forward, and if that was a sending off well you know the rest, and to hear mr over rated owen going on about it made me hate the money grabbin little hobbit by the throat,we deserved to win the game and had it not been for the constant diving of bugs bunny we would of, it was a great performance against a very very good attackin team bring on sunderland quick as they wont stay on the pitch if we play like that again, sorry if im seem over the moon but went out to watch game at 12 and got home this morning so maybe i should watch the game sober lol

I think the manager deserves a lot of credit for yesterday. Playing Ben Arfa up front in the middle meant that our weakness on the right hand side was not so apparent although I was still horrified at how much space Gouffran and Debuchy gave to Suarez out there. Some of our passing in the first half was excellent and we really looked like a top six team – especially when you realise Colo wasn’t there. And a word for Willo – I know he’s not a fans’ favourite but he rarely lets you down.

Gerrard did well to get MoM and more particularly, get away without being sent off when the ref chose not to give him a second yellow!

Suarez’s dive was a disgrace – he chose his moment to go to the floor, a master of the art. Hr should be punished whenever he goes to the floor!

The ref seemed hell bent on giving Liverpool the game, no matter what.

Debuchy had a great game, too.

Man of the match? First he tried to chip their striker up close between our center halves which subsequently lead to Suarez having a decent chance and them choking up the pressure. A couple of minutes later the goal comes with Tiote making him onside. Yeb, clearly man of the match.

Credit where credit is due Johann. CT was awesome. So he got some judgement calls wrong in the heat of battle when decisions need to be taken split second. Bet you aren’t perfect in your day job.
I made Debychy my MOM but in truth my vote could have gone to anyone in a black and white top.
Cracking team and individual performances.. Pardew got it spot on again

    Debuchy!

I have said all along that with an on form Tiote you have a chance because he can win the midfield battle for you which he did yesterday, when Tiote plays well this allows Cabaye to play further upfield where he is at his best.
Debuchy and Santon both have questions marks about their defending abilities, quite rightly as well, but credit where its due against Liverpool and Cardiff beforehand neither has done anything wrong, lets hope it continues.

I would have given mom to remy for his sheer work rate he never stopped all day. Couldn’t see how tiote got it as said in previous comment he played Suarez onside

  • 13 Owldman // Oct 20, 2013 at 10:36 PM

@ 3 You have got to be joking Tiote was still injured when Sturridge played thecball forward no way could Tiote get backbin time to play Suarez offside , get real man .

  • 14 Brutooon // Oct 20, 2013 at 11:13 PM

The good thing about Tiote improvement in performance is that he will KICK OUT ANITA

Vernon Anita is sh*t. his passing is sideways and backwards, too light weight and will not succeed in the BPL

    Out trolling tonight Brutoon?
