Newcastle Defender Now Doubtful For Sunderland Game

Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor hasn’t played since the first game of the season, and after being sent off in that first game at Manchester City,  he served a three match ban and then picked up a hamstring injury, and after training all week, he now seems to be a doubt for the game at Sunderland on Sunday

Steven Taylor – a doubt for Sunday

Steven came back to training on Monday, and until yesterday it was so far so good, but news in the local papers today he is now doubtful, so we assume that hamstring injury may be playing up a little.

With Yanga-Mbiwa suspended for the game, and Fab Coloccini back in Argentina with a groin problem, it seems that Paul Dummett would deputize, and given his performance last Saturday, it would be another great chance for him to show just how good he is.

But if  Taylor misses this game, there has to be doubts about this lad’s overall fitness, because for almost four years now Steven has missed at least half of each season with various injuries.

We should hear more from the Newcastle manager on the fitness front today, when we assume Alan will be holding his press conference for the Sunderland game.

If  Steven doesn’t make it, this will be a massive game for another local lad,  Paul Dummett, and we hope the 22 year-old can come through as he’s done every time he’s worn a Newcastle shirt this season.

What do you think?

Can’t pretend to be too disappointed at that news. He’s always an accident or daft moment waiting to happen even if in his own mind he’s as good as Messi.

Can honestly say I’m not that bothered. Willo and Stevie are way too similar players.

Why do I feel really optimistic about Newcastle at the minute?
Please help me, I have this feeling we are about to go on a run of unbeaten games.
I don’t know why I think this but usually when I do, we get walloped!!!

cant really say, Taylor has the experience but lately he’s been far too emotional in games and its cost us. Dummet isnt really proven – but i’d take a risk on him, every time he’s played this season he’s put in a shift and he’s only gonna get better each time he’s playing games. I think Taylor is increasingly becomming more of a liability, dont get is wrong in the past i’ve loved the passion he’s shown towards the club but that can be his biggest downfall.

It is a shame, being local lad and proper up for it.
Don’t really know what has been put in place in terms of his development?
However, the CB’s for this weekend have it all to play for to keep Colo n Taylor out of team on their returns.
Good to see cover in place (weren’t ready for it in past)
    Still saying we’ll win 0-3

i’m looking forward for the derby match and i think it’s a good idea to have Dummet starting as a CB and i only hope he becomes a 1st team starter now rather than later

Give the lad a break. He’s a decent player and gives his all
